  • Very bad new's i think my engine is screwed Don't know how it happened i maintain the oil level correctly and use only the best oil (motul 300V)---Still my bike lost all the power suddenly struggles to cross 60 km/hr and takes a lot of time to hit 78km/hr that's the max it goes.

Showed it to the head mech in the HH SC he says it could be a bent valve---
So i took the bike to this well known superbike mechanic in chennai (this guy is an expert in unicorn and he was servicing a red colour R1 super bike in his garage ) so he took a test ride of my xtreme and said the bike has lost power he has to take the engine apart to find the problem He too say's the carb and the clutch are ok.

My bike has completed just 24000 kms .

Buddy... There is a scheme in HH You can increase the warranty to 5yrs for very minimum amount... Then later ask them to change your engine... Don't go with engine repairs man it will cost a bomb and wont last long too...

          • Guy's i am really surprised as to how my engine got screwed in just 24000km's.I really want to know what went wrong....i dont rip my bike,i warm up the bike correctly etc but still....

As far as warranty goes i have not availed any of the paid service and the last free service so no warranty for me i am afraid.

Yesterday i completed 300km ride in my ****ed up bike--- the engine is not over heating ,no visible smoke coming out of silencer....I am really hoping the fault to be a minor one the head mechanic said it could be a bent valve and i really hope he is right and i dont want to open the engine.

@noel you are correct about the engine repair thing...recently a local mech "repaired" a friend's bike it went kaput again in just 6000kms.The quality of the service in HH "Screw" Room is not far behind that's the reason i am really afraid to give my bike to HH.

It's also the reason i am going to this superbike guy i think it should be a cake walk for him...i hope (in his garage i saw him working on the engines of 2 "beefy" looking superbike's...dont know the make they were all opened up ) .

The tuner said i should call him next week as he is really busy(he was busy riding a R1)...hope he spare's some time for me.... soon .

              • ^^ Damn everyone saying dont open the engine .I only got 2 options :

1)Take it to HH and try replacing the valve (the head mech was pretty sure it is the valve)

2)Take it to the superbike guy (He say's he has to open the engine)

The HH SC is like 70 kms from my house(the local SC suck's)

                What you guy's suggest i do .

sarbon so sorry for you bro..what i tell is somehow try to claim warranty if its not possible do the repairing job in sc itself because if you later feel some problem again you can hold their collars i dont think the same is possible with the roadside mechanics....

                      • @sarbanoxley: This sounds like a case of bent valves. Don't worry, this is somewhat common with a few batches of Xtremes-my friend has also experienced the same problem&his bike stalled one fine day. This is the same friend for whom you purchased and sent the speedo hub!
He also had a gase of leaking gasket (in turn engine oil) due to the inner screw's threading giving way. Both the times the engine head was opened up&the problems were rectified FOC under warranty by HH SVC&now his bike runs like brand new. No side effects whatsoever.
Go to HH, they are well trained to identify these problems&will do a good job. Try to get it done under warranty, state some reason for not availing the last free service-the paid services are not mandatory for warranty claim. There is also a goodwill warranty, that is if the period is slightly more than 2 years since purchase of the vehicle.
In the worst case, i.e., they do not accept warranty claim, still I say pay for it&get it done, it will not cost you more than Rs.1500&peace of mind will be guaranteed after that. You can go back to them anytime if you feel they have not done a perfect job. But I doubt if you would need to do that.

                            • If the bike is idling smooth and normal, valve and valve train is OK. if the valves are bent, leaking or deviating, then the first thing will be impossible normal idling. Any problem with valve would affect the idling first and top end in the last. And it seems almost impossible to run a bike at 5-6k rpm at 70+ kmph with bent valve while idling remain unaffected. How is the idling?

Most probably, it is an issue of carbon built up in the head, wrong timing due to slipping timing chain or screwed CDI. I have read here and some more, about heavy carbon built up in Unicorn piston/head chamber.

I understand the pain bro, but why I'm telling to take it to a proper HH SC is that they are trained and they service tens of Xtreme's a day. So I would suggest enquire about best HHSC even at nearby places and give your baby to them.
