purchased genuine valve set of Xtreme (Part No. 24K170S), which included valve seals as well. After my Mech opened the engine head, the new valves along with head were sent to lathe for grinding. In the meanwhile, Mech scrapped off the carbon deposit over Piston crown and cleaned the carburetor jets. Then he re-assembled the head with new valve set and seals and adjusted the tappets. I told him to apply anabond sealant between the head gasket and surface.

Now, my ride has become smooth again, and I feel that Power and pick-up has been restored
It has been around 2000 Kms since the Head job, and bike is running absolutely fine.
I am currently using Gulf 4T Synth engine oil, since it comes in 1L bottle.
I'm facing similar issue. Thinking to do the same soon. How much did it cost you including labor charges ?

Here is the breakup:
1. Valve Set 390.00
2. Valve grinding labour 100.00
3. Mech labour 400.00

*Apply gasket sealant like Anabond over all the packing/gasket to prevent oil leakage

Thanks. My CBZ was losing pick up and having acceleration drag issues. Got it checked with my mechanic, he said it's due to clutch kit wear and that needs to be replaced. So got the clutch kit for 1350/- Honda brand. Now the pick up has improved but not completely. And the engine also vibrates slightly after 50kmph and is not that smooth. Not sure what else might be the problem. Please suggest. Btw my bike has completed 56k on odo.

Now got time. Once again extremely sorry.

As for your problem, you messed up your sayings. You said you opened engine six times.

But actually your engine was opened once. All those clutch case opening and tappet cover opening are part of general service and doesn't constitute engine opening nor you can count one.

Also using unicorn gaskets has no problems as its the same, just price is almost double for the brand name. Else everything is same.

And that unicorn camshaft holder is same. Except that extreme ones would have cost RS. 636. Unicorn ones cost Rs. 800 obviously for brand name. No difference.

Now your questions and my answers:-

Doubts:
1. Now the engine pull seems fine but there is a noticeable drag/lag when the throttle is twisted. Is that related to the spark plug or to the new camshaft holder??

Check the timing of engine. While fitting the camshaft the timing sprocket would have been opened. The timing would have been missed. Get it re-set.
2. Do i need to follow a short run in period now that the holder is changed??
No need. Get the timing checked. Also tappets adjustments.
3. From the beginning itself the engine sound is not as smooth my friend's and loose chain hitting the cover like sound comes from silencer while running .Its not like the the "tikkk tikkk..tikikk" sound when silencer cools. It seems the engine is getting hot very quickly not sure though. What could be the possible reasons??Reaches 49km/hr at 4k rpm.Compared to my friend's bike Engine feels stressed at 60km/hr

Get the engine re-tuned. The mixture is not correct.
4. Till now only Hero oil is used.Veedol is not available here. Motul 10w30 is available. Shell and Gulf also might be available. Which one to go for?? how is Honda oil??Day after tomorrow iam changing oil.

Use motul. But try to get veedol. Many are using and are immensely satisfied. i think all oil companies will sue me for decreasing their sales.

Adjusted the timing chain.but still there is lag.only 50% reduced.put the bike in neutral and twist the throttle the engine doesnt growl along with the input (slight delay)

Above the speed of 55 the rocker arm beating noise is very loud and bike feels strained.

I got a good mech but i need to give him suggestions else he wont look into.

Sibun seems to be busy. Anyone else can help??pls!

I need your input on few points.
1. New clutch is of Honda Unicorn or Hero Xtreme?
2. Grade and brand of current engine oil.

2. Recently got my bike serviced at an Hero service centre. Not sure which oil they used.

My xtreme is going strong at 28k on odo and 4 years. Bike runs as good as it comes out from factory.
Anyway need a tyre change for rear due to a long nail pierced through the tyre and made a hole on the sidewall. This is the 4th time rear gets punctured.
Replaced rear shock absorber bushes and handling feels better now. Old bushes were torn badly.
New bush

Next work is to replace the faulty carb float valve. Bought new valve from hero spares

Is it advisable to install the NGK iridium spark plug instead of OEM? What are the advantages of iridium ones over stock ?
Is it necessary to have split fire cable for iridium spark plug ?

Not worth the money spending. Advantages are long life no cleaning required and cold starts will get better due to strong spark. You wont get any noticeable difference by using this in our 150cc's. Stick to stock or get the G power plug or bosch twin spark plug. Iridium plugs are not available specific for xtreme/hunk you may need to put any other bike's plug.

Check carb tuning or clean carb thoroughly if not touched more than 10k kms. For the rocker arm beating noise, adjust tappets using feeler gauge.
