Hello guys, small update.. Had a small unfortunate incident with my extreme yesterday. My bike was parked beside a small pole. An old lady who was driving Scooty lost balance and hit my bike and it fell on the pole and the tank got a good deep dent on the right. Luckily the lady was not hurt and drove away. I realised that the tank is damaged little later.

And it's pending repair. Can anyone please let me know the cost of new tank n also the charges for denting job? Will get it repaired over weekend. Thanks!

Thanks!
Its the rocker sound. Get it properly checked. Else there is some problem in assembly.

But its the rocker sound.
I heard it repeatedly with my headphones. The sound is from rockers. Get tappets properly checked.

Its a LED projector. Its mounted on leg guard and is only 10 W.

I am searching for a used coil of extreme. Will rewind it and will do some upgrades which i will post.

I can't say of uni 160 bore kit. Will see the bore kit at friends shop and take measurements and will then tell.

I checked tappets again & also set it again. Still the sound comes. They are brand new rockers.

Another thing has happened: To double check, I tried to remove the rockers, but rocker shaft (of exhaust side) is struck!! and not sliding out of the cam holder. So the rocker of exhaust side cant be removed. I dont understand why this happened.

But the sound used to come before too.

Change both the rocker shaft. They have worn. If it is not coming out, then get it done in lathe rather than applying brute force. Your rocker shaft are worn. That's why the noise. Alternatively get the bike inspected by a good mechanic. Since i am not present near the bike can't help much. So get a second opinion from good mechanic.

Thanks, I will get them removed. But I am not getting rocker shafts 14451-KRM-840 anywhere & dealers are not accepting orders.

Does the cam holder wear out? I had recently got its threads (where head cover bolts go) re-threaded.

Another observation:

1) If I change the spark plug to NGK, the noise is increasing.

2) If I use thinner oil like 10W30 noise is increasing. So I put 20W40, noise decreased.

3) Leaner carb tuning increases noise, richer tuning slightly reduced it.

Use Osram SilverStar . Highly rated bulb with good results. Use AUX lights powered from Alternator ( you will require circuitry to regulate it ).

Why not Osram Night racer plus? I am using it and its superb.
Anyway i believe Hero bikes headlight reflectors are of poor quality. Why? Current gen hunk/xtremes & trigger coming with same bulb - Phoenix. But trigger provides better lighting output. Just my observation

Thanks folks. I will consider changing the bulb to the ones mentioned. Are these two bulbs direct fit ? RohIIT , please share more information on AUX lights and the required circuit diagram.

On 20th January, 2016, I complete long, loving five years with my bike.

A person's first bike is very special. It holds a special place in one's heart. A place that can never be taken up by anything else. All these feelings are just amplified in a huge automobile fan.

Finding the right bike took a few weeks. A number of test rides and pouring over brochures.

Finally, I decided on the bike that the heart and the head wanted - The Hero Honda Hunk.

I still remember waking up at 5:30AM on 20th January, 2011 and aimlessly staring into my compound. Dreaming about how the compound would look when a bike I could call my own would be parked inside it.

The battle between black and red was long drawn. Finally decided on black and then headed to Prakash Motors. That feeling will never come back. No words can describe the excitement, the enthusiasm that filled me that day.

Was accompanied by my best friend, my mom and my brother to make the booking.

Got the bike that evening and I thumbed the electric starter, as the engine thrummed away, I smiled. This was my bike. My own.

As I started moving, I glanced over at a friend who had accompanied me during the booking and the delivery. He gave me a thumbs up. I had never felt more content.

While I was getting the registration number, I remember the feeling. It almost felt like how I feel during exam results. Nervous and scared. This number would be my bike's identity almost. And I got 3264. Perfect for the geek inside me. (32 and 64 bit )

Days turned to months and the months turned to years and the bike chomped up kilometers with zero hesitation. Be it a half day dash to Hogenakkal and back, or a laid back ride with friends.

As it stands, the bike has travelled 45,349km in 1826 days. That comes up to an average of 25km every single day for the past five years.

I share a special bond with my bike. One that has made me seek shade during parking, one that has made people scratch their heads in irritation and one that has gotten me in trouble. But it is a bond that I will never feel ashamed of or regret. Ever. As anyone who has asked me for my bike about what I feel about my bike. It will give you fair idea.

People say it is an inanimate object. That it has no life. But a look back at my best memories of the past five years and I will be hard pressed to find a memory where my bike is not involved in some way or the other.

We've had our problems. I've regretted my decisions sometimes. But I eventually understand that this was the best decision for me.

Here's to a lot more riding!

I didn't ride 16 hunk , but wait till second service it will reduce vibrations over time. I have a 11 hunk but it only gets smooth in engine and gearbox after clocking some kms

Wait till 2nd - 3rd servicing. To become super smooth, it takes long, really long time. Also do not use synth oil till 10000

I also had a test ride of Xtreme sports........I felt the same. Lots of vibrations (more than regular xtreme/hunk) and refinement have also gone down and the acceleration never felt like 15.6BHP.
Hope that it will get smoother and refined as it piles more kms.
