Ji,..This is why I asked for your help.....what you have pointed out is valid and relevant.....Originally posted by Pinaki View PostNo no , not wrong in any way at all , 20w40 is plenty fine from 0c to 45c+ generally... I was just taking into consideration three other things .
i) his engine is pretty new , low wear and tolerances will be close enough for a thinner oil . Those piston rings are quite tight and compression is high now , some fast wear is desired in his situation to set in his new engine now . 20w40 may actually protect too well to give him that fast wear and bedding of parts
.
ii) while min temps in his city doesn't dip below zero .. it never climbs above 30 (usually) too , that too rarely near 30 ... he can get away with the 10w30 . He'll actually get better cold starts and flow at morning crankings ... it gets cold in mornings in bangalore , specially if it's raining like now . I've lived there for sometime
.
iii) his riding style is sedate .. he is unlikely to stress out the 10w30 oil beyond it's limit .
He doesn't have a oil problem however .. I think his carb mainly needs retuning for the air pressure difference owing to altitude change . And a replacement for the broken choke lever .
Yes at 3,000 ft above Sea level he is running rich, and his AFR needs to be adjusted to lean.
Thank you for the valid points. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

If you go through your User Manual for the bike, there will be a page with "Specifications" written on it..In that page the maximum speed of the bike will be mentioned....So you try not to go above 80% of this Speed..For example if Max speed is mentioned as 100 Kmph, then you don't exceed 80 Kmph for engine reliability and longevity.Originally posted by bikekrazy View Postsir can you pls explain what do you mean by this statement.
sir i am concern bcoz after driving 2000kms on my New CBZ now i am exploring new RPM bandlimits.
i usually drive between 6500-8000 RPM which in turn show top speed upto 105 kmph.
my odo is at 2300 kms currently.
what measure should i follow to make my machice-dream machine for many.
i am current getting 65 kmpl fuel millage till 2000 kms.
Fuel average after 2000km-2300 kms (usually High Speed driving) is yet to be calculated.
plz Share you experince guys!

Sudden Hard increase in Engine RPM and speed always leads to higher engine wear, change engine oil every 2000 Kms if it is 20w40 and every 1500Kms if it is 10w30.Check and clean Air Filter every 1000Kms and keep the chain and sprockets clean and lubricated every 800 Kms or more depending on the condition you drive in.
Never lend your bike to others, and Ride Safe..Last edited by psr; 08-23-2011, 11:39 PM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Very nice Aneesh , that photo you took is well worth over a thousand words .Originally posted by Aneesh@4GHz View PostClean it during every service and if you are living in a dusty area, clean it every 1000kms,and replace filter every 10000kms or earlier as per the condition of the filter....
How many of us just forgets about maintaining the air-filter just because we don't see it ever .

Kalli'jee , That procedure you just explained is Engine Braking . I guess your bike is relatively new and the engine will be more noisy & harsh now .. specially when you are engine-braking or accelerating fast or have ridden for sometime so the engine is hot . It is normal . It'll take about 5000kms of riding & several oil change & services to fully smoothen out , by my own experience . Motorcycles are noisy machines by natureOriginally posted by Kalli12 View PostOk u started u r bike u put on first gear and then went on to second upto max like u r on 30kmps and now without gear shifting u stopped acceleration so that you can slow down while u didnt accelerate do u hear any sound from engine?
. Engine braking is very good for the new engine infact ,it creates good friction & bedding of internal parts exactly where it is needed , without any high rpm stress on it .
welcome ..Originally posted by psr View PostJi,..This is why I asked for your help.....what you have pointed out is valid and relevant.....

i usually drive on Highway (No BRAKE used..NOT EVEN once Inmy complete 18 kms ride) with constant speed of 55-60 kmph (4.5-5000 RPM limit) any i manages to get above 60 kmph.

Next tym this happens ,dnt try to shift gears straight from 5th to 1. just move slightly in 5/4th gear and slowly change the gears as u move forward...Originally posted by ATHUL4R View Postohhh man yesterday an alto crosing the road with out looking the road and i hit on front and back brake suddenly and escaped, after that i tried to down the gear the gear lever is moving but the gear not changing for about 30sec. after trying many time to down the gear atlast it works it happens some times on me some of my friends saying that its gearbox problem my bike only clocked a total of 90km.
i hope this works out for u..give it a try on empty road and feel d differencesigpic

Ok heres a new problem i changed the engine oil around 4 days go and since the next day when ever i start the bike wouldnt start even if it starts it will run for 5 seconds and then suddenly stop or when i change to first gear it stops i need to accelerate it so that it doesnt stop.... and the oil changed to is gulf 4T 20w40 and its heavy rains here(Maybe this got something to do with it) or the is it the idle rpm problem?

Ew: Starting Problem
yes dat is one of the factors responsible.Same happened to me but make sure to initially accelerate (slightly so that it doesnt stalls) and keep engine idle for 2-3 minutes after u start the bike.and when engine is hot, also check the IDLE RPM, it myt b showing less than that u have tuned it to.mine was automatically changed to ~1200 from ~1500 after oil change from 10W30 to 20W40.Originally posted by Kalli12 View PostOk heres a new problem i changed the engine oil around 4 days go and since the next day when ever i start the bike wouldnt start even if it starts it will run for 5 seconds and then suddenly stop or when i change to first gear it stops i need to accelerate it so that it doesnt stop.... and the oil changed to is gulf 4T 20w40 and its heavy rains here(Maybe this got something to do with it) or the is it the idle rpm problem?
Aside this u wud definitely feel the difference in engine sound now, trust me on this.
