Don't do that next time people with less knowledge would think you are right. And a thicker oil cools better because it carries heat from hot parts of the engine to cooler parts more efficiently.
First think you are special then work towards proving it.

No need , just buy motul/gulf from shop and save 20 bucks . Gulf is even giving scratch card discount now . I get yamalube mainly because I frequent the YASS place for my yamaha bikes ( know them since the 80s ) and I trust only one other shop a bit far from me . I confirmed that shop to be a genuine motul dealer by calling up the motul regional manager , the first time there . He confirmed . I am so paranoid that I do all my own oil changes myself , hot oil on hands be damned .

I was looking for you sarban ..... tell me ... 1) when you got your centrifugal filter ( and mesh filter too ? ) cleaned , how much grit did you actually find in there ? ,2) Did they need to change the clutch side gasket or was able to reuse the same one ? ,3) anything else interesting found ?
I haven't been able to coax the HHASS to open/clean mine upto now ... so .

            • Getting my Dual Disc Hero Honda Hunk today, can anybody tell me how should i handle it in its initial run in stage to ensure longer and smoother engine life and optimum fuel efficiency?

              • 1) run it at 45to max. 50 Kmph
                2) do not sudden accelarate
                3) try to use both the brakes.
                4) first change the engine oil at 100 Kms, then 500 Kms and then at 1500 kms. After that regular interval
                5) try to vary speeds, do not run constantly
                6) mileagewill be less initially so do not tell the svc or any other mechanic to tuning your carb. DO NOT LET ANYBODY TOUCH YOUR CARB even at servicing
                7) maintain proper tyre pressure
                8) do not use any xtrra premium or any other typre of fuel. fill only normal unleaded fuel.
                9) ride safe, wear all gears and maintain traffic rules.
Don't research too much while purchasing, else you will commit blunder

                      Got my bike

Only thing i cannot do in this list is to avoid pillion, rest is fine, and I feel a little vibration in all gears except 5th, is it normal?

Also first servicing is at 500km according to the manual, is it good to change the oil at only 100kms?

I don't agree with that part because if anyone sudden throttle under 4K RPM, then it is OK.

                            Congrats on your new bike...
Change oil at 250 or 350 Kms...
Never drive at constant speeds....warm up the engine in the morning and ride around 40 Kmph for the first 1 Kilometer, thereafter run it at less than 5 K rpm...do not accelerate suddenly, use normal petrol.....avoid additional load(pillion).

                            • Low mileage- Please help

Guys my hunk is 1 yr old. Just got it serviced. Changed the oil and tested the mileage 3 times. Before servicing i got a mileage of 24 (K&N installed & insane riding), 28 (stock & sane riding) and now after servicing 35 (Stock and sane riding, at the range of 50-60kmph).
By the way i ride in bangalore and these figures are of city riding conditions.

How much do u guys get in city? I guess 35 without ripping is a bit less right?

                              • I don't know if I make you laugh, but I have to ask this.

Can someone describe how to put a bike on center stand..?

As of now, I need someone to pull from behind. Saw some videos on YouTube, but not working for me..
