well i was facing very low mileage problem ever since my day 1.i am getting 35-38 Kmpl on my ride.1.2K on oddo.mostly city biking.never drive >50-55, rpm <5K,(seldom take it upto 6-7K). I was facing high power in 1/2 gears and lesser in 3-4-5. also i was not able to ride @ 20 Kmph in 3rd gear,bike wud give hiccups at this sppeed.
I have checked the spark plug few days back,it was dark black and den only i came to know about all dis trouble,i went to SVC and they tuned the carb fuel screw setting for me,lets hope i get something outta it... how much mileage can i xpect right now? around 50?

Mileage in Tec & math terms is a variable affected by many parameters.

Today I would like to pen down these observations. Morning 4am I started a trip to Palani hills in Tamil nadu . The only pump open was IOC so forced to take petrol from there.(From day one I take HP Brand Only and rec my mileage of 60km & 55 Km)Today riding style was the same , Kms done is about 390. and mileage is a meager 50 km/ltr. Disillusioned I took HP petrol again when I became reserve. Done only 60 km after the next reserve I can confirm brand superiority.

I live in KOCHI where there a refinery and HP is having a Depot and co. owned pump, near my house . There petrol quality and quantity seems to be OK . These two are very important for getting mileage.

Get a good spark plug. and change for a trial as the electrical characteristics in real time can change inside and yet escape our notice.

Keep ur air filters clean .

Playing with carb is a dirty job as when one parameter is boosted other ones will lag Perfomance and mileage are like the pans of a common balance when one is boosted the other will surely go down.

To sum up Understand your vehicle(have the feel ) and ride accordingly .Always remember the machine has no inteligence But the man who drives is intelligent so handle intelligently.

And how come you never use Indian Oil???? Have been using Indian Oil from day 1 and have'nt faced any problems.

CBZ-X 2007 Disc plate urgently needed in Hyderabad!

@All Hyd/ Bangalore owners: My friend is desparately looking for a disc plate for his 2007 CBZ-X.
He has placed order in several SVCs here, but none is able to get it.
He has been managing with worn out plate/pads&now his wheel is getting locked every now&then. The noise is also unbearable.
Could someone please guide us as to where we can get the part?

From silencer? If yes,its because of bad petrol.

You checked oil after riding or after keeping the bike in middle stand for a few mins?



If the SVC had set the AFR Screw too lean,it will leads to engine overheating and premature death of spark plug,feeling knocking @ higher rpms,not so smooth at higher rpms etc. .

Guys anyone tried adding the aluminium brake and clutch levers(like on Apache) on hunk??
I want to try that.. First gonna try if apache levers fit properly.

Mileage issues!!!!

Hi i am getting low mileage on my bike around 30-35 KMPL i took it for servicing the mechanic tuned the carb and also put a few drops of oil on the spark plug ,after that when the bike was started smoke came from the exhaust for some time but stopped after some time,i asked the mech reason for putting oil he gave some weird answer. So i wanted to know does this really help or does it do any harm to the bike?He also said if still there is low mileage we have to check the piston as the bike has been driven for 42000kms.
Also any tips to obtain max mileage

10W40 Engne Oil ??

please suggest a good 10W40 engine oil for my ride,as i m quite happy with castrol 20w40 but having cold start problems in morning.. so is there any good option available for 10W40 so that i can get the problem solved.U know winter is coming and its freezing cold in morning here in uttarakhand,that too near mussoorie :P.so suggestions wud b appreciated.

@ Aneesh : can i go for remote start kit?? would HMC guys wud provide me and if they dont and i get it done outside wud it void my warranty??

I'm using shell ax7 10w40 and its a very good oil.

How much it costs?? and would it solve my problem of cold start in morning as winters are almost here...

Yes,Xenos has very good range of security items for two wheelers guess it will void warranty as it needs modification on electricals,not sure about that.

Why don't you try 10w30 Motul / gulf / Shell or even the HeroHonda 10w30 itself . That'll give you easy cold starts and good lubrication in freezing winters (upto -10C) there for about 200 Rs . No need for a 10w40 unless you expect hard and long rides or summer-like temps sometimes too .
