sibun Thanks for your quick suggestion. I'll do the test and report back. FYI, my current battery is Exide which is 15 months old. I've quoted the relevant post as well.

Note: Below post is dated 06-10-2014, when I used the twin electrode plug for the first and last time. There was no performance gain whatsoever. So according to my experience, it's not worth trying.

Details of job:

1. Replaced the battery with Exide XPACK XPTZ5. This is a 4AH VRLA Battery with same dimensions as stock and fits easily in the battery cage. Got 36 months warranty on this

2. Changed engine oil with Veedol take off premium 10w30. Last oil was Gulf 4T 10w30 which was used for 2700 kms. Using Veedol for the first time, and I hope it will be better than Gulf

3. Replaced Air Filter and Choke cable and got the throttle cable lubed.

4. Got the drive chain cleaned with petrol and lubed with gear oil.

My hunk has completed 1 year 10 months already with no battery problem whatsoever.

What i always do is that i charge my stock Exide battery every 5000 kms at authorized service center and charging MF battery to local shops wont be a wise idea i think.
Many people say MF battery doesn't require charging but i think it does.
I have also installed 2 pulsar horns.
My dual horn sounds loud and clear even when my engine is idle, headlight & turn indicators are on. Extremely happy with the quality of battery.

For the headlight issue, I have switched to Osram Night Racer Plus 35w and the lighting output is far better compared to stock.

Hi guys,
What are the causes of compression loss in extreme???
A really bad incident happened to me today. I was driving normally, after I stopped at traffic signal bike suddenly shut off, I tried with self but its not starting.(only cranking sound) Kick pedal was also very smooth and it goes down easily. Its very embarrassing. But after trying for half an hour it just started normally.
Bike was serviced regularly and covered 8500 kms.

This happened to my Xtreme(2007 model)quite a lot of times, and even i could not figure out the problem. The kick slips and the starter does not work, even in neutral. Surprisingly, bike starts after it is allowed to relax/sleep for 2-3 minutes.

Since you said your battery is one year old i would not doubt it, but if its amaron then can't say as some amarons show fault earlier.
Get the battery checked at a battery svc.

Else do these tests. Press the pass light, switch on the indicator, press brake light and then self start it. Tell me the results.

Your low light is also the reason of above problem. Solve the above problem and your low light problem will go.
Hello sibun,

When I pressed the starter button while keeping the pass and brake light ON, it started in just one click. Checked the same thrice, and result was same every time.

What's your view.

That means your battery is good and rectifier is also pumping voltage.

Check the voltage at battery end while revving the bike. See how much Voltage it is giving. On idle it will show 12.8-13.2 volts. At half accelerator it will show 14.5-15 volts.

Have you checked the earthing and negative terminals. They might be corroded.

There are three earthing:-
1. Near rectifier,
2. At starter negative
3. AT engine head- But this is for spark plug.

Clean these.

If not improving then will have to check coil.

Take the bike to any automobile electrician mostly that works on cars. They will test all and tell what is problem.

even happened in my friends unicorn , removing spark plug and putting back solves. Is this normal by design or really piston ring is gone?

Its the valve sticking which is letting compression leak.

Cause- Due to bad fuel valves have gummy deposits.

Solution-

Change to better quality fuel station.
Use IFTEX fuel additive or else use ADDON additive available in Indian oil pumps.

And gun the engine to 8k rpm once in every fortnight.

And for solution at time of problem.

When you see valves sticking then open full throttle and crank with choke open.

After three to four cranks bike will start. Immediately close choke and keep throttle open 1/4 for 1 minute.

Adding a suggestion from my end too.
If nothing works, try pushing the bike in second gear, probably in a downward slope. This has done the trick for me once, when I faced this problem.

This happened to me many number of times, and added to that my bike doesn't have kicker. What i used to do is just leave the bike for 5 mins and after that it will start with the first press itself . if i keep on trying without giving 5 mins break , it wont start and even pushing the bike in gear wont work. the more i try to start without gving break the more the time it will take to start. this happened even while going at good speed in 5th gear ( but not at stand still, mostly at greateer than 40kmph).But fortunately this problem got vanished a year ago but i dont know how. This happend to ZMR also as per my research.

Have you change any bike parts for this problem and what are the actual cause of this sticky valve.

I tried researching for the reason but could able to get the answer . But i never change any parts for this and i didnt even mention this in service.

Iam not sure sticky valve could be the reason. AFAIK, some of the causes for sticky valves are oil entering the combustion chamber, over heating of engine or dirty engine oil.

I have seen many ZMA owners reporting this in ZMA thread, and remember someone referring to this as Honda sticky valve problem
Looks like many similar incidents are reported on Honda engines as well.
