the picture i posted of a part, is this a air valve?
Finding a fault in a carb is bit difficult as there are so many things that can go wrong . Please answer to following ques
    1. Are you facing any horrible performance drop or lower top speed ?.
    2. Is there any signs of physical damage ?
    3. Was TPS removed from carb ?

Since you said you are getting a mileage of 45+ , let us assume carb is okay . Only way to make sure carb is gone is to do a carb swap from another vehicle . But get that vacuum issue fixed first .
Thats the pipe for secondary air injection . Check that if its faulty of broken , most probably not . A grey hose is slightly out in the pic , push it in and ensure there are no gaps.

      1. only frequent drop in pickup, didnt drive bike more than 60KM/H yet because if getting good mileage.

      2. i think there is no physical damage

      3. TPS is not removed yet.

also i TPS was checked by technician by voltage meter, it's working

Last month I changed my cbz extreme's both front and rear disk pad from ASC and even after riding of 700-800kms the response from brakes were not at all gud , so I again went to ASC , they changed the brake fluid with dot 4 did bleeding and gave the bike . After this the front one was gud but still rear was not working as it should b .
Guys wht more I should do to get tht initial bite from the disk brakes ? Any brake specialist around thane/ Navi Mumbai who can help me out with this disk brake which works like drum brakes ?

have you tried another cbz extreme to check if its rear brake feels like yours if yes then you can curse the hero motors otherwise search the DIY section.there you will find beautifully written articles about brake fluid replacement ,bleeding and disk pad replacement.Meanwhile you can leave the rear brake engaged over night by putting some weight over brake pedal. In case you find improvement in the morning then there is air in your system

There is no defect in carburettor.

Do this following steps and report back:-
            1. Adjust the tappets using feeler gauge. Use 0.06 mm for inlet and 0.10 mm for exhaust. This is the most important point.

            2. Check the spark plug and its gap. Use feeler gauge and adjust to 0.8 mm.

            3. Check the choke piston if it is rusted or spring is rusted. Change the choke piston and spring. Also if cable is not changed then change it.

Do all these three and then report back. Most probably your problem will go. Else i will tell the next steps to check.

Check the rear disc pads if the mechanic had fitted with greasy or oily hands. Rotate the wheel and check if it free.

Else loosen the rear axle, rotate the wheel and stomp the brakes. With brakes stomped tighten the axle. Check and your wheels will be free. After that ride and check the brakes.

Ok now updates on my Bike. Long time and no updates:-

My bike is at 44.3 k kilometers and rapidly inching towards 45k kms.

My bike was last serviced at 41k kms and it has been 3000 kms and bike was not serviced. Since i had exams on three sundays i couldn't service it.

In a single month bike has touched 3000 kms.

            The problems were:-

            1. The bike was feeling strained and vibrating a lot after 5k rpm. Also the engine was screaming after 6k rpm.

            2. The top end has reduced to 115-116 kph with bike taking longer to hit the speed.

            3. Mileage was surprisingly good at 54-55 kpl with all highway running.

            4. Brakes were requiring three fingers and more power to bite.

            5. Low end torque had gone for a six.

            6. All in all was not feeling like my extreme.

So this sunday thought of servicing the bike.

First the engine oil. Since the bike had run 3k kms without an oil change and i had used Veedol take off 4T premium 10W 30 oil.

This oil is the best for extreme. Have been using it for last 25k kms and haven't used any other brand.

This oil even after running 3k kms didn't show any decrease in level nor did the engine overheat. And my running is 100 % on highway with speeds hovering in between 80-90 kph.

The only indication was rough engine, noise has increased and bike was screaming after 6k rpm. Also the gear shifts had become notchy and was making sounds.

Drained the oil and the oil was still brownish when seen in light.

The air filter was opened and cleaned. Was dirty and the reason for bikes top end decrease and pull.

Also the chain had gone slack and the reason for dismal low end torque.

For the front brake the pads were removed and cleaned with emery paper. The rubber boots on which calliper pins slides were changed and was lubricated with TVS girling Brake grease bought from Maruti dealer.

The brake bite is back to two fingers.

Was thinking of going for 5 W 30 shell Helix that i saw at Maruti dealer. But that oil had API SL rating and Jaso SG+ rating. Fearing clutch slippage didn't go for it.

Went for the trusted Veedol 10W 30 oil. Was thinking of opening the clutch chamber and cleaning the centrifugal filter but didn't get the time. So just replaced the engine oil.

Now bike is back to its best. Feeling smooth.

On my way to my posting place on highways the bike felt smooth, eager to pick speed and noise and howling has decreased. Also gear shifts has become smoother and brake is good.

On another note today i got to ride our bank vehicles owner new extreme. It has run only 5.5k kms. His bike had tappets tightened by SVC guy. So mileage was less and had no pick up.

Adjusted the tappets and bike has changed character.

Some thing i noticed different from my 2011 model to this 2014 model extreme:-

            1. Kick is there. So the front footrest are not spring loaded like mine.

            2. Obviously paint quality is better.

            3. The front brake is from Bybre. This has more play that my brakes but is lighter to apply than my brakes. Also the bite is far better than mine and same pressure as mine is locking the front wheel.

            4. The ignition mapping is different as this bike has better low end torque and also the sudden rush of power is not like mine. May be it is new bike so the low end torque is more.

            5. The pull after 5k rpm is more than mine may be because my bikes clutch and bore has slightly worn than that new bike. But after 6k rpm my bike goes far quicker.

My bike will soon require a set of tyres and clutch change. The clutch will last another 10k kms before requiring change.

Also the rear shocks need repairs. Have caught hold of a guy who works and overhauls Gas shocks of bikes and cars.

During the service, the Cam Chain Tensioner was changed. The noise from the engine has reduced drastically, but there is still noise. I want to get the cam chain checked, but the mechanic insists that it is too early for the cam chain to go kaput.

Also, I begin to get a feeling that Honda Throttle is too heavy for the engine though it is 10W30. I am not able to source Veedol Oils anywhere in Bangalore.

If someone can, could you please get me the Veedol oil shipped to Bangalore? I will do a NEFT transfer to your account for the cost of the oil, the shipping and any other expenses you incur to do the same. I would love to try this oil everyone is raving about.

My mighty Hunk is going to complete 20K this month. Its 2.5yrs old.
                  Performance is awesome till now.
I changed only rear brake pad (its a drum brake), clutch and throttle cable, spark plug and air filter. Also changed to Osram Nightbreaker for better illumination in night. Nothing else.
I am getting continuously 45kmpl in mixed riding. I ride mostly at higher rpm >6k in highway.
Please suggest if I need to look in any specific area in next service since its touching 20K km.
I am also planning to have Bosch twin spark plug. I hv hard that it increases engine temp. is it true? Any experience with this type of spark plug in Hunk?

Too much fiddling with air screw would damage it AFAIK.
Your bike is already returning good mileage figures, then why ?

actually i want to have good pickup. i made it much richer and i loved the acceleration, so now i want to balance the acceleration and mileage.

but now since you said iam going to settle with the default setting, may a little richer for acceleration sake.

Exchanged Carburator with friend's old extreme.

bike showing good and constant pickup and i can feel change in running bike

but but still engine showing RPM down to 1100 rpm, very less frequently than my original carburator.

Valve set, seal and guides changed just week ago, so local mechanic set them loose because new valves need to set in their seat.

will tight them after ten days

                          ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

so can i go for newer carburator? Or

My bike 3 and 1/2 years old, can i go for newer Hero Xtreme Model?

                            Hello Friends,
Got my xtreme serviced today. (Odo reading 46300 kms)
Fluid of front forks was replaced with Bosch fork oil by pouring 160 ml in each fork. Fork oil seals were replaced with genuine ones. Now the response and damping is really nice

                            Air filter was cleaned.
Used Veedol takeoff 10w30 engine oil again. Previous oil was used for 2400 kms, and it really performed well.

My Mech opened the chain cover for chain cleaning and found that 2 teeths of front sprocket were broken! He suggested to replace only the front sprocket since rear one as well as chain were looking fine. Chain set is of Diamond make and approximately 25K kms old. But, I could not source genuine front sprocket, so bought an aftermarket one (14 teeths) of average quality.
                            Will this setup work?
                            What do you guys suggest?

I am also planning to have Bosch twin spark plug. I hv hard that it increases engine temp. is it true? Any experience with this type of spark plug in Hunk?
----- Can anyone please help me with above queries?
