Which oil is recommended for Hunk as fork oil?
One thing I noticed irrespective of old or new engine oil, engine becomes very harsh while driving in back to back traffic for a considerable time period. Then when bike gets some breathing time like more than 2 hrs or so, and if I drive in a highway, its again smooth. is this normal for Hunk?
Veedol, Gulf, Motul - you have so many good brands for fork oil.
Regarding engine harshness - this should be normal for all air-cooled bikes not only Hunk. In stop-go traffic the air cooled engine doesn't get enough air for getting cooled.

Ok got it. Can this be mitigated by using non mineral engine oils.. like SS or FS oils?

NGK G-Power plug costed me around 180/-.
For front forks, I am using Bosch fork oil which is really good. Pour 160-165 ml in each fork for soft damping.

Guys, rear shock absorbers of my xtreme(46.6K kms) have gone very stiff.
They are gas- filled GRS ones, and now I'm experiencing very bumpy ride, which is taking a toll on my back as well
Is it worthy to go for reconditioning of GRS shockers? Whether it will work?

P.S: After clocking 40K kms, maintenance cost of my xtreme has really gone up:banghead:

I personally don't think after 46k kms the shocks are worth fixing but if you're on a budget then I guess it can be done. But the feedback will not be the same as stock.

I'm on the same boat
The ride has become stiff sometime back itself. Now one of the shock absorbers started leacking.
I checked with couple of dealers, the shock absorbers are out of stock. The approximate price is around 4k for a pair! Even the old Xtreme shocks(conventional oil filled) costs around 3200 for a pair.
I haven't got the exact price. May be will check in a week.
I have seen couple of Hunks with Pulsar shock absorbers in the rear, they are cheaper, less than 2k for a pair AFAIK.

SS/FS is said to be giving more smoother rides. I haven't tried FS, but currently on Shell SS, engine runs slightly smoother.

Also, I begin to get a feeling that Honda Throttle is too heavy for the engine though it is 10W30. I am not able to source Veedol Oils anywhere in Bangalore.

I would love to try this oil everyone is raving about.
Did you try Veedol ? Would appreciate your feedback. Veedol has a stocking center in Yeshwanthpur. If you call them up , may be they will give details on where you can buy .

Thanks mate for your suggestion!
If I'm correct, Pulsar shocks are also gas filled, and they are of 'Endurance' brand. Are they direct fit to xtreme/hunk?

Yes, Pulsar 150 shocks are of Endurance brand are gas filled.
To be frank, I don't think of going for Pulsar shocks, but was just mentioing what I saw.
But I think they're direct fit. My mechanic also suggested this once.

Just called up Hero spare dealer chennai - price confirmed - GRS 4000 for pair, old Xtreme 2800 for pair.
I remember Sibun mentioning somewhere that old xtreme's shocks can be fitted in place of Hunk's GRS ones.

nishesh and satson- You both can go for new Shocks and 45k kms for a shock is quite good. Although gas shocks can be repaired but it is doubtful. Here in Bhubaneswar i got a guy who repairs gas shocks and i have seen his works and he is truly master in the work.

But same cannot be said about anybody. So better to change it if you do not have access to good mechanic.

The Grs shocks are Rs. 3800 a pair and the plain one Rs. 2600 a pair.

You can very well use the Non Grs model and they last longer than GRS model.

Fitting pulsars shocks is not an option as Pulsars run softer shocks while extreme runs a lot stiffly damped shock which lent it a balanced ride and exceptional handling. Fitting pulsar shocks will make the handling go for a six.
shariar- For your vibrations you can check the Handle racer as from my experience in this bike if the racer is loose by little then it will send a lot of vibes to handle.

Also Hunk comes with plastic bar end weights. You can change those to metal bar end weights from Extreme/ hunk for better damping of vibrations.
nishesh- The maintenance doesn't go up. At around 50k kms every bike will need some maintenance to run.

I have decided to do do the following maintenance at 50k at one go:-
1. Change the tyres,
2. Change the rear shocks,
3. Change the clutch plate( doubtful on this as the clutch feels still the same the day i bought the bike).
4. Change the master kit and caliper kit of the disc brake.

ANd some other normal running work. I do these at a time to make the bike run like new for every day.

Ok i will check handle bar racer on my next servicing.
Where do i get metal handle bar end weights? can i fit one from pulsar 150?

For the last 2000 or more kms i am getting very low mileage (30-35kmpl).....which was previously around 40-45kmpl. Spark plug color is great and its been tuned using ur carb tuning method
Am i missing something bro?

So, I'll not go for Pulsar shocks.

As you mentioned, non GRS shocks of old model xtreme are also fine, can I go for endurance make non GRS ones for xtreme(aftermarket), since one of my friend's relative is an auto parts dealers and Endurance product stockist. (I'll get them at very good price)
What do you say?

I don't think this is catching up yet. Although I like the idea of retrofitting a low cost ABS on a bike, I would be worried about its dependability and serviceability. For a few days there was a red colour device in the market which was fitted near your spark plug or carburetor which claimed to increase your fuel efficiency. Is this something like that ?
