I think 110/90 shouldn't have any issues. Someones else have mentioned about using 110/90 on Hunk without any mods in our thread itself.
I am also using same tyre as giridhar from last 4K kms now, on touring and bumps sometime I was feeling like it is touching the upper chain cover and I got adjusted it and now its doing great, no drop in mileage or top speed not a single km checked many times wonder but true. Its a dam good looker too...

But now I want to shift to block pattern tyres, front and rear both, for touring purpose...

Which front tyre were you using with this rear ? about block pattern tyres, they provide good grip on all kinds of terrain but cornering wouldn't be so much fun as it is now

Edit : What kind of adjustment was done, will do it to be on the safer side!

I am using the stock on the front still, completed 31K and it still looks fine, those are hard compound tyres and last for long, we dont have much options for front with this kind of pattern like Zapper Q so now I am looking for block pattern, feedback is very good, got feedback from fellow riders, it does cornering very well and have immense grip on wet & dry surface and very good for hill and off roading too...

I got chopped my upper chain guard from where tyre was trying to touch...

And about 90/90 front, will it be bit more rounded than stock?, because that is what I am looking for, stock seems to have very little surface area to lean on, which restricts lean angle by a good margin. Your advise on this?

Need inputs for the front guys, please help me out!
AFAIK, the rear 110 section wont give any trouble for the stock setup until u maintain proper tyre pressure. but for front, it is better to stay away from 90//90. though there is no difference in height from stock which is 80//100, the increase in width will hamper handling. if at all u want to increase u should be changing the rear to 120 section

Any personal experience with 90/90, because currently I am running on stock front tyre and profile is not round enough to let me use the rear tyre properly, i.e Lean angle is close to what I used to get on previous stock 100/90 section tyres. I don't mind having heavy front, will be using Hunk only for trackdays and touring. For city riding I have RX100 with stock size tyres, its as nimble as a bicycle

I dont have any experience, but its the basic technical.for touring no issues, but for racing it will hamper cornering compared to stock. if u keep front as stock size and increase rear, there will be a boost in handling.
In general, the front shall be atleast two size lesser than the rear and also the lesser the tyre height the more will be the handling for both the tyres..

if u increase the front tyre size, then the truning angle for front will become less compared to stock. in ideal condition the turning angle of front shall always be higher than the rear. in order to achieve this the front shall be atleast two size lesser than the rear.

Believe me, the best tyre for the front is the stock Zapper.
And If you guys remember, for the rear, I got Dunlop Geo Cruiser 100/90-18 (TL) before my Ladakh trip. It is a superb tyre. Gives the impression of a 'fat' tyre for those who want their rear tyres beefy! Handles great. Great durability and road grip under all conditions. Myself have ridden it on snow, ice, water, slush, sand and normal tarmac. In fact this was a stock tyre on earlier Xtremes before Hero decided to switch to shitty Zapper Ys.

Spooky Tyre Story
Since the past 2 days, some weird 'rubbing' noise was coming from the front tyre/wheel. The tyre was certainly rubbing against something but I couldn't find out the source. I went a SVC thinking that maybe while mounting the front tyre, some dust particle was rubbing against the axle. But by hearing the noise they said my front disc pads were gone! I told them instantly that boss, I take very good care of my bike. Stop fooling me. The brake pads certainly have much life left. Moreover the sound emanating was more like the tyre rubbing against something. But spookily, there were no friction marks on the tyre/rim as such. This morning I took it to a different SVC - they too were at a loss as to where the sound was coming through!!??!!
The EUREKA moment: One guy suddenly discovered that a small polythene sheet had got stuck in the gap between a joint under the mudguard which was the main culprit! We all had a good laugh after that.

Rocker Arm/Tappet Issue

This guy pointed out on hearing the engine sound that my tappets were 'loose' and needed adjustment. And in all probability, my rocker arms were gone? I was like rocker arms? The last I adjusted the tappets was around 10k kms back so they might have been loose but rocker arms? I'm not sure. He also mentioned maybe the valves needed changing. Guys, some help needed here. How is the sound of damaged rocker arm? For a past few thousand kilometers though, my bike has a continuous (very faint) khussss sound while running. The sound should be more muted and bass-y I feel. What are your insights into this?
I'm getting a mileage around 45-50 kmpl. Air filter changed last week. Running on Veedol 10W30 since the past 1800 kms. Spark plug dry and light brick colored. Chain fantastically clean and well lubed.

Rockers do not need changing.

Reset the tappets using feeler gauge.

Rocker arms will sound like crank noise but half intensity as they rotate half times the speed of crank.

Do not touch the valves and all other things as bike is running good. Just adjust the tappets and run.

sorry dude...i confused every one. it is 3 size for best result. what i actually meant is, if you do upsize front by one size, then do rear by two size. this

means for hunk u must have front 90 and rear 120 compared to stock. so the final size would be 3 step difference .

btw if at rear spec 110/80 is available then it will provide the best handling compared to 110/90.

Not sure if 110/80 is available, had to try very hard to get 110/90 Zapper Q, which is widely recommended for 18 inch wheeled bikes.

Regarding Hero Hunk Vibration and Oil Grade

My Hero Hunk has completed 12,000 kms so far. Currently experiencing a lot of vibes (Unbearable if I slot my knees to the petrol tank) from 4.5K rpm to 7k rpm. Vibrations mainly occurs on petrol tank and handlebar. Petrol tank fitting is ok and vibrations are coming from the engine thats for sure because I have checked the bike by revving in double stand. After 7K rpm petrol tank vibration goes away, so definitely not a tank fitting issue. Is there anyway to reduce these vibes??

Another query is, Currently I am running Motul 300V/7100 10w40 oil and I am planning to use it forever. Does it have any long term effect on engine? I want nothing but longer engine life. In Bangladesh we have only the options of Hero engine oil (MAC) and havoline 10w30 engine oil and after using motul 10w40 these oils feel crap. But still if Xbhpians suggest to use only 10w30 then i will switch.

Awaiting Xpert Xbhpians expert suggestions

• Engine Sound of Hunk-Advice solicited

Guys here is the engine sound of my hunk. Went to the svc today. The mechanic on hearing the sound and after having a ride told me that there is much vibration. He said, could be that the camshaft bearing, etc. need to be replaced and tappets adjusted. All this ll b under warranty so I may not have to pay anything. It is true that the engine sound is not smooth. Last month on a highway trip, I tried to check the top speed but bike wouldn't go above 112kmph. Max I have touched is 119 kmph and that too very easily. This time the bike felt a lot of stress in touching 112 kmph. Road was smooth, not much headwinds, crosswinds... I crouched... Maxed out at 7.5k rpm on each gear.

I'm confused and afraid if the mechanic will fiddle unnecessarily. Even after tappets adjustment, the engine sound remains more or less same.
Carb untouched since day of purchase. Not tuned even during ladakh. Didn't get any problms. When it ain't broke, don't fix it...my mantra.

Chain is spotlessly clean and lubed as always. Air filter is just 400kms old. Engine oil veedol 10w30. Running 1800kms. Mileage is 45-50. Bike has run 21000 kms. No oil leakage/smoking issue. Spark plug is close to brick red.
Between kms 12750 - 21000... I have changed oil 2 times and currently running on 3rd change.
1. Veedol 10-40
2. Gulf 10-30
3. Veedol 10-30
Say, we keep the oil change aside, will changing the camshaft bearing be of any help? Moreover it ll b under warranty so I will not have to pay anything. Warranty expires this 18th. So I want to get anything changed or replaced which has even slight problem.
Idling RPM is 1100 cold to 1400 hot.
