Today I tried to tune my afr as per Sibun's guide. I did everything as told, set the screw at 1.5 turns out, removed the pipe and all but as I started tuning, my rpm was barely increasing. Any ideas why?

Did you warm up the engine before tuning? Cleaned air filter?

Air filter was cleaned a week ago. And I went for a ride before trying it. I set my rpm to 2000 when I started tuning and did not see gradual increase in rpm. The needle was rarely constant and the highest I got was 2500 rpm but it was not constant either.

Ok then, rpm will increase very slowly that is not an issue hear to the engine sound and note the position where rpm is maximum. Stop at that point. In my case rpm was increased to 3.7k maximum and got a tuning of 1.85 turns. If things are not going good then check for air leakage from carb and air hose pipes.

Will do that now. Thanks. Do you think low acceleration is because of afr problems?

Cannot finalize it because of afr problem.. Afr problem will create vibrations, less power, low fe,hard gear shifts and also low acceleration, misfiring etc

So I dit it again and acceleration is much smoother I can now go at a decent pace at third gear and keep it below 4k rpm. Thanks for your help. By the way, which gear and what rpm range is best for city riding?

There is no text book for riding and gear shifting.. Just ride according to the conditions. But make sure to take care of your bike..

                    • re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk

                      Hi Friends,
My xtreme has clocked 40,000 Kms till now.
Visor was vibrating a lot and was producing weird sound. Also I was not satisfied with the performance of Makino Front disc pads.
So, today morning I went to my mechanic to sort out these niggles.

                      1. Visor: There are two rubber grommets fixed at the two ends of the visor. Both of them were not looking in good shape, so they were replaced. Now the vibration issue has certainly reduced but still it vibrates a bit @ lower gears

                      2. Front Disc: I had replaced the front disc pads with Makino ones around 2 months back. But of late, braking performance was not satisfactory. Also, it was constantly rubbing the disc plate even after filing it with sandpaper, due to which there was screeching sound coming which was very irritating.
Luckily I found a Bosch Retailer and purchased Bosch Front disc pads. Now, the braking a has improved and bite is back. I observed that the thickness of pad was less in Bosch pads as compared to Makino pads, so they are not rubbing the disc plates as well. While installing, my mechanic just filed it slightly and that was enough.

                      3. Engine oil: My xtreme was running on Hero 4T Plus 10w30 engine oil since last 1500 Kms. Performance of this oil was quite good for the initial 1000 Kms, but after that I felt a dip in performance, may be because of the heat of Delhi. So, reverted back to my favorite Gulf Pride 4T Synth 10w30. But I must admit that my bike's engine was revving nicely on Hero oil.

Below are some images for reference.

Is it functional normally or required some calibrations. <br />

If you disconnected it, there isn't any problem. But if you unscrewed it and removed it altogether, you will need to recalilbrate it.

I don't remember the procedure, @sibun had posted it somewhere earlier.

Initializing of TPS is done to match the TPS output with CDI so that optimum map is selected for firing.
Unicorn and extreme runs DC CDi and these CDI unlike other CDI has micro chips. Or in other words it is like ECU but slightly less brain that ECU. It has as many has 10 firing modes and varies. So if tps is not initialized optimum performance cannot be obtained.
For initializing the TPS follow the procedure:-
                          1. Keep ignition switch(key) in off position.
                          2. Fasten the throttle sensor to the carburettor and connect the connector.
                          3. Remove the pulser coil coupler( there are two coupler coming out of magnet- one is neutral switch coming from front sprocket and other is coming from magnet- open the magnet one), and give 12 V supply from battery(by separate wire from battery positive) positive to blue/yellow wire(blue wire with yellow stripe), which is going to CDI.
                          4. Put on the ignition and the tachometer will shoe 1000 rpm(do not start the bike only ignition key is on).
                          5. Give full throttle and tachometer shows 2000 rpm.
                          6. Close the throttle and tachometer shows 3000 rpm.
7.turn throttle to full and tach shows 7000 rpm.
                          8. Close the throttle again and tachometer will show 5000 rpm and then will show 7000 rpm immediately.
                          9. Switch off the ignition and refit the coupler.
                          10. Complete each operation within 8 seconds.
                          11. If tachometer shows 10000 reading at any stage repeat the process.
                          You can thank sibun.
As for my bike, I did carb tuning and tappet adjustment today as I found my bike to act as if it was short on fuel at speeds of around 70 kmph. Will know the result of my changes tomorrow. *fingers crossed*

Special thanks to sibun who helped me through the procedure.

As the bike sounds now, it sounds better than it did before. I'm not sure if that is a placebo effect of it is the real deal.

Either way, bated breath till tomorrow morning!

I was browsing through AliExpress and found this to be quite interesting:

Front and rear disk pads for Rs. 1260 odd. Any idea if they will fit? Curious to try them :P

My Hunk's headlight isn't responding to the switches. It is stuck in high beam. I cant get it on low beam or turn it off without shutting off the engine. Any help please. The bike was in a rain shower today is that the reason for this?

No its not available in tubeless, but now the days most of the tube tyre are same as tube less so its upto you to use the tube or fit the tyre directly on your rim, I think your bike rim must be compatible with tubeless tyre if its not one can not use tubeless tyre.

No modification required for 110 section, you can fit it without any hassle and yes to avoid any problem I have bought a bottle of liquid to avoid/minimize tyre to deflate in case of any puncture and poured it in the tyre from air filling hose...
