The following are speeds in fifth gear:-

3k RPM- 38 kph
4k RPM- 51 kph
5k RPM - 65 kph
6k RPM - 78 kph
7k RPM - 91 kph
8k RPM - 104 kph
9k RPM - 117 kph
9.6 k RPM - 124 kph, yes i have hit 124 kph when rev limiter kicked in.

The in gear speed varies by 1-2 kph for difference in tyre pressure.

If the front tyre is inflated more than recommendation then speed shown will be less and if less then speed shown will be more. Similarly if rear has less pressure then speed will be less and vice versa.

Now my bike is showing 1 kph less than normal due to wear and tear of tyres. Time has come for change of tyre.

Also speed will differ for tyre brands as curvature of tyre changes from brand. The 100/90 tyre is having a height of 90 mm when normal, but when it is mounted on rim and inflated, it gets curved and the height increases because tyres get curved at center. So take that as factor while calculating.

There is still a certain lag in pickup. The engine is screaming in higher rpm's. But no mismatch in rpm-Speed ratio. Still doing 64 kmph @ 5K rpm in 5th gear. What should I check now.
Guys, I need some advice on following issues. Will be visiting my mech's garage this Friday.

1. On Monday while returning from office, the 15A fuse blew away. I stopped and replaced the same with spare one, but that one was also blown. Finally had to push start and ride 14 kms without light and horn to reach home. Will get the wiring checked.

2. As mentioned in my last post, my bike is suffering from low pickup despite replacing air filter and cleaning the carb just 500 kms ago.

3. The engine is screaming a lot @ higher rpms. Engine note has changed too.

Looks like my testimony after reaching 50K didn't went well with my bike, and now she is slowly going down

Please help me in restoring her.

You are just worrying too much.

For wiring check the wiring thoroughly, must be sorting with chassis somewhere. Best way to know is check the chassis by removing the tank and panels, and search along the wiring, where the wiring is sorting most probably it would have worn out the paint at that point.

As for the low pick up, just do a full service of bike.

Full service include:-
1. Change engine oil to 10 W 30.
2. Clean air filter and check the filter box for any obstruction.
3. Adjust the tappets. Adjust the inlet to exact 0.60 mm and exhaust to exact 0.10 mm.
4. Adjust the chain and keep slack at tightest point approx 25 mm.
5. Check the clutch freeplay and adjust propery.
6. Check the spark plug and see if it is worn or not. Also check if bike is running lean or correct.
7. Lube the chain with SAE 90 grade oil and if dirty clean chain with kerosene and pressurized water.

Do all these and bike will once again feel like new.

how much pressure u maintain guys.?

Since my usual road is good i used to maintain front 30 rear 40. ( indeed its over inflated but i didnt think it will affect too much in oddo.

But sibun, whatever u have mentioned as speed in 5th gear, iam able to achieve in 15T sprocket only.

So far noticed on 15T :

3K - 40kmph
4K - 53kmph
5K - 67kmph
7K - 93kmph (Surprisingly u can achieve it closely on 14T itself ...!!!!! )

on stock 14T :

3K - 44.5kmph
4K- 50kmph
5K - 62 kmph

My Stock 14T as well as custom 15T speed follows almost exactly as the gearing commander values with slight variation of 0.5kmph.

Thanks a lot Sibun for your detailed reply.
I have been following everything mentioned by you since long except Point No.3 i.e adjusting tappets using feeler gauge.
Since I am yet to see any mechanic(outside SVC) using feeler gauge, I'll buy one and ask my mech to adjust the tappets using them.
I think there is some typo as Inlet valve clearance should be 0.06mm and not 0.60mm. Am I correct?

@dineshaugustin: I keep 32-33 PSI in Rear and 28-29 PSI in front usually.

yes buddy. me too the same as yours and its 2011 first ever digital model.

dont know how this high speed is possible without sprocketing and tyre change.

even with recommended tyre pressure my reading was similar as yours.

thanks. me too followed the same initially. but for the sake of longer gearing occasionally started keeping 30, 40 . but my current usual would be 27,35.

The difference is that you own a Hunk and I own an extreme. Ask any Extreme owner and he will say the same speed as mine. Be it RohIIT, shoeb2015, or any extreme owner.

Hunk owners will agree with you.

Its because the first three gears between Hunk and extreme are same, but from 4th and 5th the gear ratio is different. While the manual gear ratio is same but there is difference in them. Even in spares catalog the gears teeth on 4th and 5th have not been given.

Recently i had to open up the engine for gear problem(will post details), and managed to see all the gears. I counted the teeth and the gearing is really different.

As for the 15T sprocket, then extreme when using 15T the speeds are:-
1. 3k rpm- 42 kph
2. 4k rpm - 56 kph
3. 5k rpm - 70 kph
4. 6k rpm- 84 kph
5. 7k rpm- 98 kph
6. 8k rpm- 112 kph
7. 8.5k rpm- 119 kph.

Haven't gone beyond that in 15T configuration.

The first model extreme and second model both had same gearing as Hunk, but in the digital model Hero has without any notice changed the final gear ratio of digital extreme.

The final gear ratio was such that per 1000 rpm the speed increase was 12.5 kph.

But from digital model extreme the change was 13 kph for every 1000 rpm. Now do the calculation and see. You will find the answers.

The inlet valves will be at 0.06 mm and exhaust at 0.10 mm.

The reason for your bike performance and so much problem is tappet adjustments. This bike is too sensitive when it comes to tappets adjustments.

If the tappets adjustments in extreme/hunk is not done properly, bike will feel very bad.

You yourself sit and get it adjusted by mechanic, overlooking the work. Its because mechanic feel it cumbersome to adjust using feeler gauge.

wooow....I never knew this...till now i was thinking both are exactly the same machine.

so as per the difference in gear ratio in 4th and 5th gear, the hunk should literally be faster than xtreme due to short gears.? and xtreme should have more top speed.!!

We have discussed this long back - but asking again.
Recommended tire pressure for first gen Hunk/Xtreme is 25-32 (front-rear).
But why a higher front tire pressure is recommended in the newer models with tubeless tire?

Got my cbz a new head light bulb.

I was using Philips premium 60/55 for over 2 years.

Now bought Philips H4 12342 Blue Vision Ultra Headlight Bulb (12V, 60/55W). and installed.
They said it will be pure white light, but its kind of yellow on low revs and when it reaches 2.5k rpm, it becomes more white. pass switch gives a little more brightness as its DC.
Any way I like the old one. Blue/white not good

ZMR ones are expensive cause they use those needle bearing kinda bushes, and they would definitely last longer than the rubber bushes, though thats the case with opting for ZMR's bushes over ZMA's, I'm not sure in the case of CBZ's.

Have you thought why the extreme handles so well.
Its because it uses needle bearing and bushes in swing arm. In the stock set up there is a single bearing and a long bush in arm of swing arm.
I have changed it and had also done a little modifications. In stock it wears out quicker because single bearing in centre supports the complete bush.
Get a new bush for both side and a new bearing for both side. In total you require two metal bush and two needle bearings.
Now open the swing arm and take out the bush from both side, then push out the bearing from both side. Clean the old bearing and grease it. Grease the new bearing. Now put the old bearing in the pivot of swing arm. Push it to one side. Now both side of swing arm have a bearing. Then fit the new bearing on the other end of hole on both sides of swing arm. Now grease the new bush and fit.

In other words instead of one bearing in the centre of one bush we have two bearing supporting each bush at two sides of bush.
Do this and the bearing and bush will last longer and the handling will get more tighter.
