Now for the Xtreme Sports :

2015 Hero Xtreme Sports Review
The reason is that when the bush is supported by single bush at its center, then the axle of swingarm is in contact with bush and body of swing arm is in contact with bearing.

When we turn the swing-arm will be flexing as it is pivoted at a single contact in bearing to the long Bush.

But when we use two bearing on both side of bush the bush is rigidly held to swing arm and thus cannot flex at the contacts of bearing.

Just imagine a long plank supported by a single support at center. Now it will be un stable. Now instead of single support at center we use two supports at two end. How does that add to the stability factor.

So why every review claims that both these bikes have top speed of only 110kmph max.
even the same is said for the new xtreme in every review. why??
Its because they test brand new bikes and also tuned from factory which are tuned very lean, when my extreme was new, almost till 7000 km i found it hard to cross 110 kph.

Now i have crossed 120 kph many times. In-fact since my running is always on highway, i have to constantly adjust speed as at a particular accelerator, the speed will slowly get increasing and i will have to manually slow down the accelerator. My bike has gone free like superb and picks speed like crazy. In-fact after 80 kph and till 110 kph the tachometer needle climbs like it has got a turbocharger.

Unfortunately that is not the case with Digital Hunk and extreme as they share the same sensors and wheels for speedo. Also i have checked it on GPS and the speedo is bang accurate.

All those testings are done on new bikes which have barely run-in. In-fact when overdrive tested the extreme the bike had run only 419 km.

And once they test it they barely test it again . They just copy paste the spec sheet from first test.

@ sibun. Whats this gear oil used for?( lubricating chain?)
I am planning to install 18w x 2 led cree in my Xtreme.. am i need to add any relay? Will it be a load to the battery... will use only at above 4k rpm. which relay to ise any specification. .. is there any water proof switch availailabe for extra light...?
Any other suggestions also welcome..
I need to travel safe at Ni8 rides..
Is Tensioner replace without opening head? Some times i am hearing taaar taarr sound... is there any problem in this situation for riping at 80-100kmph. last time i changed tensioner(super splendor tensioner not orginal one available i think. The OEM spare part shop gave me wen i as xtreme tensioner, but my mechanic told me that its super splendor one but fitted).

sent from Galaxy Grand 2
It is a gear oil produced locally here. The grade is SAE 90. It is used for lubricating chain.

Yes you can install the LED lights. they can be used. Just use it on Highways only.

Tensioner can be replaced just plug and play. No need of touching anything.

The super splendor tensioner will not last long. The best replacement tensioner for extreme is from Acheiver as it lasts way long. But finding it is difficult. Also get extreme, else Unicorn tensioner, will do.

One thing i noticed that the the MRF tires that came with my hunk are very hard compared to my 2010 xtreme. Even in slight wet road rear tires skid and in xtreme cases front tire also skids.
My tire pressure is also as recommended. Does the new hero 150cc owners feel the same?

Its not the tyres, but the seating geometry. The Hunk has less load on front wheels than extreme which is naturally more forward biased.

So what you can do is at high speeds just lean a little forward. DO this and report me for changes in stability feeling.

Ok UPDATES ON MY BIKE:-

My bike is slowly approaching the 50k mark. Those who follow my Joys post will remember some problems with my CBZ.

Ok the story goes like this:-

One sunday my father had come to Bhubaneswar, and we decided to go to hospital where my fathers' sister is admitted. Since my father would go first and i will go a little late, so couldn't take the car.

The hospital is 27 km from Home, so my father didn't take the Pleasure. SO he took the Joy and he and mom went. I with my cousin brother went on my CBZ.

Went through the airport road, after turning to airport road, gave the beans in fourth gear, and shifted to fifth. There was a sound and the gear slipped, i reslotted, but same thing. The gear was perfectly shifting but not locking. Tried three times, but no luck, so rode it in fourth and went to mechanic.

Since it was a half day for him, and next day i had to go back to office on monday, i sat there opening the engine. After opening the engine, we were disgusted as there was no wrong in anything we found. Now we were left scratching our heads.

Next day took the Joy and went to my office. My mechanic was waiting for me to return on saturday, to fit back the engine.

Returned on saturday, and we decided to change the fifth gear pinion as it had some marks, and fifth gear fork.

Completed the work by 12 at night and i return to home. Next day took delivery of bike. The fifth gear was running good. I was still skeptical.

On monday rode to office and mid way on highway, same problem returned. I was really angry. Completed the trip in fourth gear and returned on saturday in fourth gear.

In one week rode for full 400 km in fourth gear with speeds reaching 100 kph.

As if this was not enough my mechanics family member went ill and so he was engaged in hospital. I was also busy.

So the bike had to be given to SVC. by that time i had talked to Bibhu, and he was quite instrumental in helping me with the permutations and ticking out the check list.

Now my procedures of finding out the problems is:-

1. There are three things that helps in shifting the fork. The gear shifter shaft, the forks and the gear drum or changer.

2. The gear shifter shaft is ticked out, as if the shaft is problem, then gears will have problem, moreover in universal pattern, the neutral finding gets difficult.

3. Forks is ticked out as there are three forks, One shifts the first and third gear, while other shifts the second and fourth gear, and the third forks were changed just now and even that one was not worn out.

4. Now the drum is finalized as it is responsible for lifting and locking the gears.

So i reluctantly gave it to SVC as i know they ruin good bikes and i cared my bike. I gave them on saturday and they promised delivery by 12 noon wednesday.

Went to office on tuesday on JOY.

By 11.45 on wednesday got a call from SVC that bike is ready. I was indeed surprised. I expressed my in abilty to collect the bike till saturday evening. They said that workshop will remain closed from friday till sunday as they have a company camp going on.

So bike was away from me for 15 days. Longest time for me to be away from my bike.

Got the bike on next sunday. The bike was pleasantly clean and they did a polish also.

Tested the bike and all was ok.

Paid the bill and upon seeing the part confirmed that they have found the problem.

Now coming the SVC experience:-

1. Was amazed by their timely delivery. Before the mentioned time got the call.

2. Mechanic was quite polite along with staff.

3. Billing counter, they know me so that was a good experience.

Now coming to the bad bits:-

1. First the idiot mechanic had looted the engine oil. Billed it and taken and used old engine oil. Even if he had used the old engine oil from my bike it was ok as it was also very good and besides my bike i change oil before it goes bad. But idiot has filled oil which looked like drained from 40k run truck.

2. My bike was not having the same feeling as before. On investigating, recently found they have not fitted the carburettor properly to the intake hose. Refitted it and the idling increased by 400 rpm!.

3. Had touched the carburettor tuning, even me reminding them not to touch it.

Now enough of talking some photos:-

The culprit. Thats the gear shifter drum. The fork are made of aluminun and they slide and lock in the grooves as seen in the picture.

The piece of metal is hollow and cost around Rs.340. Way cheaper than my Joy's Rs. 870.

In my Joy in 4 lacs kilometers i haven't touched the thing. While overhauling engine just take it out from casing, clean and fit.

A photo of the Joy/splendor gear drum:-

PIcs courtesy: paul.1911.

Here paul has opened it. I have never opened it in my bike in 4 lacs kilometers. Unlike CBZ this unit doesn't have the fork just placed on two shafts and sliding in the grooves. Instead the forks are fitted with the locks seen and secured with a cir clip.

And the metal is solid piece. No wonder the splendor/passion/cd/joy as so tough ones.

So next time if any of your extreme/hunk/karizma/unicorn/trigger/dazzler has this problem of gear shifting but not locking into place, you know where to look.

• CBZ xtreme Idealing and cold start issue

Hi
I own a CBZ Xtreme 2009 version. Its 24k on the odometer. After i toured a snowy area and had to live the bike outdoors for a night i started having this cold start problem. But the bike started with choke on. Now the bike has idealing problem. I mean the bike is good when its warmed up( and its a lot of time to warm up). But even a 10 min stop start is drops the ideal rpm.. i crank the ideal rpm up when i start but it becomes too high when warmed up. i then set it to lower range and i have problems when the engine is cold. Also my bike emits white smoke when the engine is cold. its good when warmed up..

Any kind of suggestion would be extremely helpful

Remove rear seat / seat assy. Then you can see the snorkel going to air intake.
Remove side air filter panel and pry the snorkel out from pushing it out from filter side.
Job done.

Dear All please check the attachment and provide your feedback. Completed computerized checkup of my bike . Carb was previously tuned using Sibun Bro's method....and got CO level of 1.4 later on using CO analyzer tuned the carb to 1.2 but considering Bangladesh's poor fuel quality i think 1.3-1.4 should be ideal CO level. I guess CO2 level was also ok.Click image for larger version

Water may enter to air filter area, but no damage i suppose, sound will be different.

Your question is wrong . What you should be asking is - if there is any advantage in removing it ? It's really not sensible to remove original parts related to the engine for what you want . Paper element air-filter , once wet is useless and have to be replaced immediately .

thanks. actually i dont suppose any advantage ot it other than sound...but i want to know if there any cons. water entering could be an issue.....!!

Never knew finding 10W30 oil (other than Honda & Hero OE) is so difficult. I was mainly looking for Veedol Take Off or Super swift, since it is highly suggested oil here. Checked in almost 10-15 stores, but Veedol oil was found only in two stores and that too 20W40. Finally settled for Honda 10W30 OE by Idemitsu. Hope it will hold good for atleast 2k kms. Previous oil was Shell AX7 10W40 which ran for 3400 kms.

Veedols are readily available here in the east - since the company is in kolkata . You can use gulf synth 10w30 , gulf pride 4t+ 10w30 or motul 3000 4T+ 10w30 instead - I am using these and they are excellent too . Bad news is that the Honda OE 10w30(idemitsu) is worse than Hero 10w30(tide-water) and doesn't quite last 2000 kilos .

May be I'll change the oil bit earlier this time. Will try an aggressive search for Veedol again.

Went for a 40km highway + city run and engine felt smooth and gear shifts too, atleast for now!
Not sure if it is because I am back to 10W30 from the thicker 10W40, acceleration felt slightly better. Hope mileage also improves :P
Actually, I had looked for Hero OE, but all the checked samples were manufactured by Bharat Petroleum, thats why thought of going for Honda.
Regarding other brands like Gulf, Motul, Castrol etc - they're all available in 20W40 grade only. Shops are not stocking 10W30 since they're less sought by customers I think. Most of the mechanics suggest 20W40 and they'll make their customers buy that only. Also, most of the other bike manufacturers like Suzuki, Yamaha recommend 40 grade oil.
