If you have Hero passport card, you will get 5% discount there, hope you are aware. But don't expect any other discount there.
I don't have it, but had checked with them on this.

My hero hunk has completed 21k kms. Going for servicing tomorrow. Please suggest me things that should be done apart from regular servicing.
For your information front wheel bearings and cone set changed once. Spark plug and air filter changed on time.

              Hero Hunk 2014 7000kms done
Had to open the engine for over 6times.

              1st time in June 2015 :
Became the owner at 1270kms and it had crack a at the bottom of right crank.Total cost 3900rs including oil change and labor. Had slight vibrations, more on right handle and on the tank from 4k rpm.Till 4k my Hunk feels like Honda Unicorn.

2nd and 3rd time in July : From here all the probs started......huhhhh.
Gave it to nearby svc for oil filter cleaning.Replaced the side cover gasket with Unicorn's as the svc didnt have any stock of gasket with them which costed 114rs compared to hero's 72rs.Following that service i rode around 300kms bike lost the punch and the engine became rough.Suddenly the ride quality of my old Passion felt infinite times better than this tractor of a bike Tick-tick sound was coming from the engine like loose tappets(i learned about tappets from this thread only) and cog wheels getting jammed like sounds were also coming.Went to a relative bro's home(he is having Unicorn and do all repairs by himself) adjusted the tappets with feeler gauge and then we found that oil was not pumping to the upper part.Drained the oil and opened the side cover, a bolt(dont know what it is called) of the oil pumping wheel was missing(About this missing part(bolt) i came to know only when i had to buy them a new oil pumping wheel from Honda spare shop which had this bolt and it was not there when i opened the engine the day before which means the idiot at svc didnt put it back after cleaning the oil filter and his name is Shakthivel). Refitted everything and the engine sounded like a tractor with the new valve clearances.
Next day took Hunk to SVC and the supervisor whom i knew from my days of Passion Pro understood the seriousness of the issue and did the complete work by himself and he had to lie to me that the pumping wheel was damaged and needs to be replaced.Costed around 240rs for the unicorn one's. I told him that i have no prob in spending for a new gasket to avoid a leakage in the future. He said it was fine.Bike was back to life still vibrations were present. All this time from 1270kms i was riding it in the recommended speeds.

4th time in October: Oil started leaking because of the worn out right side cover gasket, bike lost the pulling and huge drop in mileage dropped below 50 and before i was getting a healthy 56 -58kmpl.This time before hitting the SVC i compared the engine sound of my bike with that of my friend's new 3000km old Hunk. The sound of his bike was soothing to the ears and for the first time i rode Hunk/Xtreme which had little to no vibration between 4k to 5k rpm.His chain was so loose that i could hear it hitting the chain cover every third second. despite that the bike was pulling so good felt no loss in power at all. At this point i am desperate and sad-frustrated for buying an used bike.
Went to SVC, the supervisor friend replaced the side gasket and adjusted valves and clutch. He is a bit lazy but a nice guy, had to request him to make use of a feeler gauge though .The next day i checked the new setting extensively and found that pickup was back ,engine was reviving well but the sound was not as soft as my friend's Hunk. Couple of days later met him at svc and asked if the engine noise is from the rocker arm...or it may have developed a play because of running without proper lubrication for over 300kms some months before??!

5th,6th and 7th time in November: To my wonder spare of rocker arms was available with them and he agreed to change those for me in the warranty.Hitting the self start wont start the bike only "glitch-glitch" sound comes and to my wonder again spare of relay was also present!!
The supervisor friend gave my bike to a new mechanic and left as he was going out for some work.I could see this new mechanic idiot working on my bike from where i was sitting and sometimes standing impatiently anxious. In between i would go inside and have a chat with him in a friendly manner. All my fears turned out to be true, he is going to ruin my bike.He previously worked at Bajaj svc and joined Hero for better salary.I could feel it he was not doing anything properly. The worst was when he tried to rotate the fly wheel in clockwise.Told him in particular to adjust the valves only with a feeler gauge and waited outside.Few mins later he was going to fit the engine top cover, i rushed to him and asked did u adjusted the tappets with a feeler gauge or not??His reply was "he doesnt need one". Blood was rushing from my feet to head.Just because i asked for feeler gauge he did some timepass with it. I couldnt stand that anymore went outside and waited. He set the tappets tight and timing chain like noise was also coming i was not sure. The supervisor friend is leaving his job at SVC and starting his own workshop at a place 25km away from my home. Not going to S.R motors Nedumangad, TVM again.

Opened the engine at relative bro's home for adjusting the tappets.Unscrewed the top bolts, along with it the threads of camshaft holder also came out.Total disappointment
Adjusted tappets and closed headcover. Engine was rough, hard gear shifts and the top was leaking

Today morning checked in all major shops at TVM none of them had camshaft holder of HUNK.Bought the unicorn one's(800rs). Cleaned the new holder with engine oil and fitted it.While we were putting everything back spark plug got dropped from my hands and the tip hit the floor and bend. With a player adjusted it and put back.

              Doubts:
              1. Now the engine pull seems fine but there is a noticeable drag/lag when the throttle is twisted. Is that related to the spark plug or to the new camshaft holder??
              2. Do i need to follow a short run in period now that the holder is changed??
              3. From the beginning itself the engine sound is not as smooth my friend's and loose chain hitting the cover like sound comes from silencer while running .Its not like the the "tikkk tikkk..tikikk" sound when silencer cools. It seems the engine is getting hot very quickly not sure though. What could be the possible reasons??Reaches 49km/hr at 4k rpm.Compared to my friend's bike Engine feels stressed at 60km/hr
              4. Till now only Hero oil is used.Veedol is not available here. Motul 10w30 is available. Shell and Gulf also might be available. Which one to go for?? how is Honda oil??Day after tomorrow iam changing oil.

If it doesnt come good by the next oil change or another 1000kms i dont know what to do.Giving the bike to SVC without knowing someone there in person is like giving the bike for torture with consent.I will be forced to sell him if i fails to diagnose and rectify the issues which i dont want to happen (

All suggestions welcomed. Thanks for reading (:

I was fed up with my front disc performance, so I've changed my Hunk's front disc master cylinder with Pulsar one. The bite has increased a lot and brakes have become kind of progressive. There was no change required to install the Pulsar kit as it was direct fit and it came with a complete assembly including Master cylinder, Brake lever, Master cylinder kit, Brake light switch. So it was just to take off two nut bolts and put the new assembly on the handle bar and just need to connect the rubber brake line to new assembly and new DOT 3/4 oil needs to pour

Hi, First i would like to thank you for this wonderful post. Though i haven't done your Carb tunning method yet but i am pretty much sure that it will work. I understand all the part you said except for one thing, Your point number 1. I am really confused about this Carburetor Insulator part. Now i am gonna ask you for a favor. If it's possible for you to post a picture of the Brass pipe you are talking about for me & for others it'll be a great help. I am really waiting for this so that i may begin my tuning.

Now my main question to you is, I am using Hero Honda Hunk 2012 model (Without Kick). Some days back i noticed that my bike is consuming huge fuel and the spark plug tip is black. I tested then for fuel consumption and found that it is only 22-23 km/per litter. Now if i follow your method to tune my carburetor do you believe that my bike will consume less fuel and will i get near my factory tuned performance?

I am eagerly waiting for your reply

                      Thank You

After trying for 30-40 minutes, he told me that new cone set might not fit since it's not from Hero. But I was sure that VKWY-63001 (SKF Part No.) is the correct one, since I had verified the same from the SKF catalouge which was available in the shop, as well as the shop owner himself. In the catalouge, it was mentioned that VKWY-63001 cone set is suitable for Achiever/Glamour.
So, after my re-assurance, mech tried again by filing and greasing the tee section from inside. And finally the cone set got installed successfully. I must say that the quality of SKF set is really good. Now, there is no kat-kat sound and handling has improved as well. Below are the images for reference.

                              Old cone set:

Handle was making kat kat sound even if small pothole was encountered. Finally concluded that handle cone set were at fault.
Last time they were replaced @ 35K with SKF ones, and my Mech had a tough time in installing those. I've quoted my post of 12-04-14 when the cone set were last replaced.
So I purchased genuine set this time, and as expected there was no issue as such while installing.. Now the handling is fine again.
