Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
I think i also have the same issue.Originally posted by Krishna3450 View PostMy old hunk was a good bike with excellent fuel efficiency but it was messed up by the svc. From that experience i learned a lot.
My new bike had loose tappets sound on the first start itself but i ignored it to have an optimistic feel about the new bike. The next day ride confirmed that the outlet valve is loose.Went to svc, adjusted the outlet valve and came back. Two days later i went again and told the issues to supervisor. This time the outlet valve same as it was set before. Changed rockers and camshaft. But hot engine produced noise again. Did clearance at first service. Now the engine note is crisp.
They tried to shoo me away saying tappet sound is normal in hunk in the beginning.
Dont panic, in my hunk the noise was more than the acceptable level. The issue was with the bearing of shaft
So only changing the camshaft will do the trick or will it require to change rocker arms too?

The problem was camshaft. I think rocker arms were changed along with camshaft as a combo.Originally posted by ShahriarXtreme View PostI think i also have the same issue.

Bike is having some problems now.

When tappets were adjusted at first service, engine sounded great when cold but hot engine produced noise again. but the very next day cold engine also produced noise and my inlet valve always gets loose. I will let the SVC adjust tappets again and then i will claim warranty.Originally posted by Krishna3450 View PostThe problem was camshaft. Anyway my bike has done 1400kms so far, its smooth till 6k after then engine has not become free and vibe kicks in. Mileage is around 50kmpl.
What problems are you facing?

It was all happiness for about 300kms after the camshaft change and a second tappet adjustment. No cold/hot engine noise.Originally posted by ShahriarXtreme View PostWhen tappets were adjusted at first service, engine sounded great when cold but hot engine produced noise again. but the very next day cold engine also produced noise and my inlet valve always gets loose. Slowly the sound began to change. Now with the husky engine note there is a "drrr...drrr" beating like sound(like rockers beating at high speed not like when the bearings have play).
One more issue, i'm climbing a sloppy road and half way through i have to downshift and when i accelerate "krr krr lich krr" sound comes (like cog wheels are stuck/ or they are not able to hold on together)
Mileage is 55~58kmpl riding below 4k rpm. Above 50km/hr it is noisy and engine screams which i hate hate. 1,100 kms doneLast edited by Krishna3450; 07-11-2016, 09:26 PM.

That is a good 12k-14k cheaper than Gixxer, Hornet etc. I believe yours is single disc version.
And AFAIK, Hunk (almost all Hero bikes?) comes with necessary accessories like saree guard, leg guard fitted from factory.
Hope you will have the probs recitified soon.

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Hi mates,
Recently went to Hero showroom to check out 150cc models. 2016 models are overall smoother, BUT engine camshaft noise is present. I started 4 brand new to-be-delivered bikes. All have this noise.
Why? It is because Hero has bumped up the compression ration to increase output BHP, but without properly executing/testing the R&D work. (same thing happened to 2014 Karizma r/ZMR) This is putting extra pressure on camshaft & rocker arms. Already xtreme/hunk are notorious for dependancy on rockers for optimal performance.
My advice to you all is: Always buy brand new bike only after PDI & test-starting it with a petrol bottle (hear the engine noise) expert ears can very well pick wrong noises.

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Hero must have done proper R&D to eliminate the cam noise. From Hero this is not expected. Except for the sound everything feels great but when i hear the sound i immediately feel, If honda were here then they would have never allowed to do this. If they increased compression even then they would have eliminate the noise. Hornet also has higher compression ratio but no cam noise.Originally posted by marmiteminer View PostHi mates,

Heard Hero has rectified the issues of karizma twins on the later models. How?

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Well you can do nothing mate, coz you already have bought it. Live with it as long as possible. If you want perfectly problem free bike, you have to buy proven & long running model like Unicorn 150.
Well Hornet too has its own problems like: all metal parts, Including chassis are rusting in many hornets. Also it has tiny 4AH battery incapable of delivering a solid load. Some bikes had defective alternator. But Engine is very reliable as any honda.
Nope, Hero could not rectify the problem, that's why they stopped the production of ZMA/ZMR. Karizma twins too have camshaft & rocker issues, much more serious than Hunk/Xtreme. We have to wait & see what happens to that legendary "Karizma" name.

I think you don't need to worry much.Originally posted by Krishna3450 View PostWhat can be done now? I should have gone for hornet

The new Hero bikes come with 5 year warrantly right? If problem gets worse, you can always report and get the problem rectified/parts replaced.
If Hero is confident in plonking this engine in both Xtreme and Hunk after the big failure of new ZMA, I think they would have done good research.
I have seen couple of reviews of the new XTreme sports, none of them reported poor engine refinement or so.

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
I can always report the issues but for them its nothing. I have reported a krrr krrr sound on climbing slopes ,they said its normal engine knocking but i don't feel so.
Already changed camshaft and rocker arms under warranty.it was noisy before that. Now from 4k rpm engine feels unsettled and a subtle drrr drrr beating sound.Last edited by Krishna3450; 07-13-2016, 10:41 AM.

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Well said. No one is talking about refinement, everyone is concerned about the cam noise. When bike is parked somewhere, people stares at you for such kind of noise, me too face this issue almost everyday. But except for this everything else is better than earlier hunk/xtreme, the reason why i bought sports after selling hunk.Originally posted by SatSon View PostI think you don't need to worry much.

Re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
The problem with Karizma was a high lift cam with higher compression which lead to noisy and un-refined engine...It had not been sorted out...The easy fix for this was to change the cam to Older design cam ,which was Honda designed....Collaboration with EBR was actually a catastrophe for Hero Honda....Hero failed to realize that track and road engines are made differently and design values of one cannot be exchanged for the other.....Originally posted by ShahriarXtreme View PostWell said.
