Hero SVC has gauge which they plug into spark plug hole and crank start bike, it gives reading , manual says compression is 9.1:1 , So lower than that means bike is loosing compression. They will charge nominally or nothing for this checking , but is suspect whether they have a working gauge or not.

Had been to a Hero Showroom to book a Hero Maestro for a friend yesterday. I had a good look at the new Xtreme, Karizma-R and the ZMR.

1) Karizma-R: They have mutilated the old legend. The bike looks disproportionate from most angles. Especially the size of the semi-fairing when compared to the tank. Same old instrument cluster as well. Honestly, ugly.

2) ZMR: Restores a lot of respect to the Karizma brand; but isn't enough to say it looks better than its predecessor.

3) Xtreme: Looks to have lost all its character. The tank, headlamps don't like they belong to the premium 150cc segment at all! I asked the Sales Advisor if the chain and chain case of the Xtreme can be used on the Hunk. He told me no. I asked him since all the mechanicals are the same; he replied by saying that the Xtreme is an APDV engine while the Hunk is ATFT engine. I decided not to pursue the matter further. :P

That being said; we planned on booking the Maestro this Friday. We were leaving from the Showroom when a sales advisor ran out and told us that prices were increasing by 4% from next week. So if we get the invoice done today, it will be available to us at the old price. Paid Rs. 2000, selected a red Maestro, finished the formalities and left. Super service from Hero looking after its customers!

Compression using the gauge is measured in psi and not as the compression ratio.
Usually the workshop manual would have the recommended compression specs.

Guys help me...
Miscalculated the depth of water in a water logged culvert and rode my xtreme through it, the engine turned off after reaching the middle point. I pushed the bike ashore and after a while tried to start the engine but I couldn't. I pushed it all the way home
And after reaching home OpenID the airfilter and found water in it but the filter was dry

Tried to start it in the morning but that turned out to be a futile effort. What shall I do, SVC is long way from my home, is there anything I can do??

I think you need to check carb and spark plug also for water . ask normal Mech to do it if your bike is out of warranty

Cleaned the spark plug and drained some petrol from drain bolt near the carb and after much effort, bike started

Thanks for your advice bro. Is there anything that I need to lookout for?

Hi Guys,
My bike had a fall in the parking, when a car hit my bike while reversing.
There was no apparent damage as such, but later I found that while riding when I leave the handle, it starts wobbling.
What could be the issue here?

Hi Guys,
My bike had a fall in the parking, when a car hit my bike while reversing.
There was no apparent damage as such, but later I found that while riding when I leave the handle, it starts wobbling.

Nishesh ji, if possible do a front end alignment. Firstly apply center stand and keep handle straight forward , from a distance of 10-15 mt see the front of vehicle.
If alignment is off , tyre will be offset from mudguard . You can tie stone to both end of a string and use it as a guide too.
If it is confirmed alignment is off then you need to re-align it.

To re-align front end , here are the steps.

1.Loosen axle bolts (only loosen so that nut can be rotated with fingers )
2.Loosen fork pinch bolts near front number plate #13 no
3.Loosen 2 #15 bolts on handle and 2 #12 no. bolts

now slowly move the bike and make it hit a wall at crawling speeds ~1-2kmph , this will center the forks in T stem.
Now in a cyclic order start tightening bolts in by 1/4 round at a time. This will ensure torque is divided properly.

If this works then good , else you need to check for bent forks or beading of tyre.

Thanks a lot RohIIT bhai for your detailed explanation
I'll try this method in the weekend and report back.
Sometimes I feel that the wobbling issue is just psychological, since I feel no other issue such as hard handling etc.
