This is fine buddy. Your bike is doing 61kmph just below 5k rpm, which is fine.
Please read Sibun's post again, he mentioned 65 kph - 5k.

So you didn't do Chennai trip on your bike?

hey guys, have been out of xbhp for a while,Did the longest trip to leh on my bike,in the month of june, the bike fared well throughout, just that it needed some tuning during the high altitude passes in ladhakh, but overall the ride was fantastic, now i m facing a problem with the chain, its noisy as hell and also when i ride it at a particular point it feels like its getting stopped at some point,my bike has done 29400 odd kms till now...

Maybe the problem is with the worn out chain set as a whole? confused about the problem, want to rectify it in the next service....

Congrats for getting Leh buddy, how was the roads specifically for CBZ was if too difficult for bike to cover means how will you rate the bike performance from 10 to 1, specially in the bad wet uphill roads of Leh, I am also planning to Leh next season as the engine of CBZ and hunk is same so I will get a idea of whether bike can do this stretch easily with everything stock like tyres and all other stuff please let me know in details and yes where is the pictures and travelogue...

see if your chain set is worn out which suppose to be at 29K, your chain will get loose and noisy more often to compare earlier and also you can check it if the teeth in the sprocket are not in the shape, then its time to get a new chain set.

Ran into a small little problem with the bike today.

The fuel tap was pointing to reserve. And everytime I hit speeds of around 70, I could feel the bike stuttering very often. When I opened throttle a little more, the stuttering would go away. I'm not sure if this has to do with the bike being on reserve because I didn't attain such speeds when the bike wasn't on reserve.

As the ride went on, the stuttering seemed to get progressively worse at speeds of 70 odd. But when I went back to around 40-50, it behaved normally.

Any ideas as to why this is happening? (NOTE: The Service Center gave me a CPR6EA9 plug when I asked them for a Hunk plug, still using the same one)

Also, I fear my slow jet is clogged as bike switches off on blipping the throttle a little bit after a little idling, yet mileage I get around 43-44kmpl. Here are pictures I took of the spark plug from 2 different sides:

Could you link me to the post where you posted the "engine oil" of Ap1-sm grade available at shop and other peripherals. After putting 20w 50 , my bike feels so slow at speeds above 50kmph and seems like crawling. As you said, my tappets have to be adjusted, could you give me a date where you'll be available at bbsr so that we can adjust tappets and change to that premium grade oil.
Oh! there is nothing to be thankful. Any problem you face with the bike come to bhubaneswar and my mechanic will help you. Also do not let other mechanics fiddle with bike. Oil change, chain tightening and all you can do at other places, but for major work you may come to my mechanic for getting better service. As for the oil i had warned you not to use 20W 50 oil as it will kill your bikes performance. Ok for your oil next time we will change to Veedol 10W 30 premium which is API SM grade oil. Yes on test riding, your bike feels so tight that it is not revving freely. Also the rpm is climbing slowly. We can meet any sunday to get the bike rectified. Will check your tappets, check air filter and change the engine oil to 10W 30 and your bike will fly. Call me any sunday when you are free and i will be available.

The reading is correct, nothing to worry. Bike is absolutely correct.

Congrats on getting Lehed, i am thinking of going to LEH and even marmisk-la. Today itself i was reading the travelogue on Marsmik-la on team bhp of the scorpio and i was tempted to go to LEH. Glad you all could make it. I will do someday itself in this life. For your high altitude, the oxygen deplets quickly and the main jet will supply excess fuel as a result the bike will bog down and smoke. What you can do is insert copper wires in main jet to narrow it down, or else take a Honda unicorn or Achiever main jet of 112.5 size. Our jet of 128 makes it too rich at high altitude. A smaller jet of unicorn will help to avoid the engine loosing performance. As for the chain it must be gone as in Himalayas it will be subjected to huge stress and the 29k running has worn out the chain.

Your plug is correct or infact a little rich as you are running CPR6EA9, which is hotter plug, but still it is not coming white. The color that is now on plug should come on the stock plug which is a colder plug. You can lean the mixture by 1/4 th of a turn. As for the missing, check the tank as there will be dirt at bottom. Also clean the jets by opening the float chamber and cleaning the jets. If i am remembering correct you are running on Big bore, how has been the performance till now.

The roads are super awesome if going to Leh via the Srinagar side,Only problem is the Zozila pass, the non existence of roads will make some efforts for the bike,Otherwise the entire Route after zozila is pure bliss, little bad roads till pandrass from zozila but manageable. The wet roads didnt make any problem since i changed my rear tyre to Dunlop Geocruisers before heading towards Leh.
Could not complete the whole circuit Coz While coming down from Changla the cold took a toll on my health and Nose got blocked and chest congestion started,so i decided to return via flight.

Thanks for kind wishes. You can very well do the enitre route and even marsimek la provided you carry enough winter wears with you,Coz changla and pangong are famous for unpredictable weathers.

Otherwise in total bike faired well, without any problem,it was just the cold weather which was making it tough to climb the changla while returning from Pangong.

So will it be better if I switch to CPR8EA9? I don't like using a plug that isn't optimal for the bike. (Yes, I am a little paranoid. :P) :/

Or can I just lean it out a little bit and stay with the current plug?

As for the Big Bore, it is lovely. I have a gala time in 4th gear after 5k RPM. Absolutely no issues till date. Couldn't really test top speed with the Big Bore and the 15T Sprocket as when the opportunity presented itself, I had a pillion on both occasions. :/

Rear tyre was good till it had a puncture on the way to Pangong,But since it was tubeless i continued without getting it fixed even though i was carrying pncture repair kit.
NO problem whatsoever, except on sand on the road which made the bike skid but since i was going really slow over the sand the grip was okayish...

On tarmac it was great, though when i had saddle bags on,cudnt lean more than 25 deg since the added weight made the rear tyre slip a few time when leaned more.

Thanks for the compliment. Yes you can lean the mixture by 0.25 turn and continue with same plug. The plug is that of super splendor. As for your problem, clean the tank thoroughly, change the filter on the petrol tap and clean only the jets and not the whole carb. While changing the petrol tank filter be sure to get Hunk/extreme filter as shop keeper will give you splendor filter, which may look same but will not let petrol flow from tank in reserve. The part number for the petrol tank Jaali is:- 16952-KVE-000.As for the big bore, i can feel your excitement as my stock bike goes ballistic after 5.5k rpm when throttle is opened. I am thinking of big bore and again having seconds thoughts because of new ZMR. If he meant by 0.875 inches in diameter, then all bikes have same dia handle bars as it is a industry standard. Whatever the size of handle bar diameter, it is same from splendor to Hayabusa as it is an industry standard.

                              • Hunk: Problems after clocking 50K Kms

                                Hi,

I am user of Hunk 2008 model completed its 50K kms. Although I have budget to get new ride but then too I want to stick to current one. Reason: even I don't know.

Right now problems I am facing are,

                                1. Lots of vibration noise post 5K RPM.
                                2. Slightly low pick up, can be noticed more easily with pillion.
                                3. Mileage I am getting is 32-38 kmpl in city (avoiding slow traffic routes) and 40 if ridden at 60kmph all the time.
                                4. Cant cross 95kmph on speedo. (I know it may be speedo error, but at the same time Pulsars overtake me while my engine is at its peak).

Work I had done in engine so far.

                                1. Replaced clutch plates with OEM, 20K kms old.
                                2. Replaced valves with OEM, valve grinding done, decarbonised head and tappet adjustment about 10K kms before.
                                3. Replaced chain sprockets with OEM, 2K Kms old.

                                Current Situation.

                                1. No white smoke from exhaust.
                                2. Spark plug colour shows ride is giving optimum mileage. (bread brown color)
                                3. Pickup hasn't dropped much so as to doubt clutch plates.
                                4. I had used ride more than 10K kms without battery. Just now installed one. (I doubt it might have damaged CDI)

Please let me know the solution/cause/troubleshoot of the problems listed.

                                Thanks.
