If the scratches are not deep you can use the new pads. The new pads will slowly rub over time and smoothen the disc.

Re: What tips should we follow while riding a new bike?
Congrats for your purchase, run-period is very essential for engine life, don't cross the 4k RPM mark in any gear for first 500-600 kms, don't just be constant with throttle in any gear keep varying the throttle, if you are around hills, hills are the best place to complete run-in period because you constantly changing gear and throttle movement, drain the oil at 500-600 kms and get the bike serviced from SVC and then till next 1000 kms don't cross the 6k RPM mark in any gear and follow the same procedure as earlier, make a habit of warming the engine always in the morning for about 2 minutes don't give throttle during this period and then start riding...Originally posted by jithosh View PostHii all,
I just took a Hero Hunk. What all precautions should I follow during the first few Kms ??

50K on odo, have ridden it around 7-8K without having working odometer.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostIdle RPM increases
No matter what engine oil you use, idle RPM never increases. Have you checked out why such huge fluctuation in idle RPM?
Recommended 10W30 oil is Mineral, so the heat felt will be more. Switch to Semi-Synthetic or Full Synthetic and you will surely feel a change.
How many kms on odo?
Cheerz!!
yeah, understanding is correct.Originally posted by kusmaker View PostI think what you are trying to say is that when you come to a halt the idling of the engine is high at that time and after some time it starts to decrease. If engine is idling fast after riding in hot conditions then the idle is increasing due to heating up of engine, plus it is also a sign of very lean mixture get your carburetor tuned optimally not too rich not too lean, check your spark plug the colour shouldn't be white.
i have kept afr to medium, spark plug is showing bread brown colour. i cant post pics as i use office internet and there is no medium to transfer data to system.
according to me its tuned correctly.
if marks on disk are smooth, replacing disk pads will help. use of new pads will reshape it according to disk. it happened with my RX 135 having pulsar's disk setup. more than 20K kms and its working perfectly.Originally posted by ashwin.terminator View PostReposting.
Over ran the usage with my rear disk pads. :/
Disk rotor has scratches on it now. :/ Can I safely just use new pads? The scratches are visible, but not very deep when felt with the fingers. So I assume it's ok to just use new pads.
Would like a more experienced voice to guide me though.

You can use it, bite will be good but pads will wear sooner than expected.Originally posted by ashwin.terminator View PostReposting.

Dear BroOriginally posted by sibun View PostOk do as you want and if not satisfied, change to OE settings. Vibrations will reduce after you pile on kilometers. As per speed to rpm ratio, i do not know why members are posting different speeds, because in my bike the speeds are as following in fifth gear:-39 kph - 3k rpm52 kph- 4k rpm65 kph - 5k rpm78 kph - 6k rpm91 kph - 7k rpm104kph- 8k rpm117 kph - 9k rpm121 kph- 9.4 k rpm. I do not know about others but my bike shows these speeds and is constant from the day i purchased bike. Other members may check there bike and report.
tried to tune using your carb tuning guide and mileage increased from 40kmpl to 46-47kmpl along with outstanding throttle response. I think i still need to try few more times for the tuning to get it correct.
My bike has done 3400kms till now and from 2700kms I am getting the feeling that the bike is breaking in and every single kilometers that i have crossed from 2700kms the bike has given me new feelings.
It has become sooooo smooth and the exhaust note has become very throaty...
overall a magical feelings.....

Problem with engine oil
Hello, I'm joy from kolkata. I've a problem with my hero honda cbz xtreme 2012 model without kick starter. I've used the hh OEM 10w30 engine oil for first 1k kms. Then I changed it with castrol power 1 racing fs 10w50 oil. Bike lacks its initial pick up with this oil. But engine sounds very low. Then I switched to honda OEM engine oil 10w30. Bike became so smooth but engine became noisy. Recently its 15k in the odo and I'm using motul 5100 15w50 and bike lacks pulling power and engine is noisy. Plz suggest me what to do to get rid of this. Should I stick to the grade that manufacturer recommend? Thanks a lot in advance.

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Monsoon is back in odisha and coupled to that the low pressure, it has been raining day and night here from friday to tuesday. On Saturday when i went home the entire route i faced rain. The funny thing is that on route a car overtook me and looked back as it was raining heavily and there was no bike except me. Due to too much moisture bike was loosing out some power and also bike was feeling tight to ride. Then on monday when i returned similarly heavy rain on the entire way. Bike is now very dirty and needing a service with chain cleaning. Also the carburettor needs to be tuned as it has been 2.8k after rings replacement and bike was tuned after ring replacement. Will tune the carb and will also clean the chain. Also next week will give the tank to my painter to correct the clear coat on tank as it has been damaged. So next week will ride the Joy to my place of posting. The joy will be first time taken to my place of posting. Pretty excited about it.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Had to change the Rear Disk Pads today.
Cost me Rs. 1090 at the Authorized Spares dealer.
@sibun: He said they didn't have the strainer screen fuel you had mentioned earlier. I will look around further.
I remember you saying your friend was a dealer for Hero parts. Could you please ask him one thing for me? I wanted to know if the rider footpegs of the CBZ Xtreme are available as a complete set. I mean, with the spring and anything else that I would need to replace my bike's footpegs with that of the CBZ's. Few more things, the choke has become a lot harder to pull down now. And sometimes, the bike just refuses to stay switched on. If I don't accelerate and hold the clutch, the bike dies immediately. Then, to switch it on, just using the self start doesn't work. I need to accelerate for the bike to turn on. Post which it again refuses to stay switched on if I stop accelerating. But sometimes, it idles like normal. What is wrong?
Here are some pictures:
You can see here how there is nothing left of the old pads:
Here you can see how the disk rotor has been damaged due to the old non-existent pads:
This is how the old pad looks at the end of it all, notice how there is nothing left!:
This is how the water beads on the water tank after some waxing with Formula1 Carnauba Wax.

Re: Problem with engine oil
Pls don't use any oil other than 10w30 grade in xtreme. Since you are using 15w50 oil which is heavy for xtreme the bike will rev lesser and gives low fe. Vibrations and noises will be less but actually you are killing the engine by using heavy oils. For noisy engine, adjust tappets at asc and stick to any good 10w30 oils from gulf, veedol etc or use hero oem oil made by tide water co. I think this will solve your problem.Originally posted by jjee97 View PostHello, I'm joy from kolkata. I've a problem with my hero honda cbz xtreme 2012 model without kick starter. Re: Problem with engine oil
No need for a ss or fs for xtreme. Those are useless for this engine. Just go for veedol take off 4t 10w30 or gulf pride 4t plus 10w30. That's enough. If you want a fs then go for honda throttle 10w30 or motul 7100 10w30. For ss you can try motul 5100 or valvoline champ 4t ( both 10w30)Originally posted by jjee97 View PostPlz do suggest some good 10w30 ss/fs engine oil.

The fuel strainer will be little difficult to find. As for the foot pegs then the required parts are the pegs, spring and the pin of the pegs which holds the pegs to chassis. Ok i will enquire and let you know.Originally posted by ashwin.terminator View PostHad to change the Rear Disk Pads today.

As for your problem change the choke cable. Due to the cable being hard sometimes due to handle movement choke is engaging and not closing. So change the cable and problem will go.
And water beading is quite good with Caranuba wax. But i think the best caranuba wax is from collinite. Re: Problem with engine oil
As u said before just now checked tappets at hh asc. They are fine and dont need any adjustment. Will inform you after replacing engine oil. By the way what is the drain interval of a ss or fs oil. I usually change oil at 1k kms. Thanks a lot bro. Have a good day.Last edited by jjee97; 07-24-2014, 11:21 AM.
