Also what oil hero uses is tender based, means quality us regulated by hero itself

It will be better if you stick to hero oil for 5000 kms , draining at 1000 km

Just think how cheap and effective hero oil is , even today for engine run in ppl use hero oil as it is that good

Castrol is almost fake in most places , shell and veedol are good . Use 10w30 grade strictly any higher will be detrimental on engine.
Found no leaks today.. Kept the bike on side stand..
    Worry free now!

Will change to shell 10w30 after 5 k kms..

Thanks buddy.. Just cleaning the pads is pending.. this weekend it will be done!

    Cheers!

I wanted to fit the new model HUNK's LED backlight in my 2009 model HUNK. but as the new model HUNK uses only 12V 4AH MF battery, so, if I fit the LED backlight in my 2009 Hunk which use 12V 9AH, will it work or just blow? Thank you for your expert advice

You can plonk it. My Xtreme used to and still runs on some cheap LEDs which is installed 4 years back in Console and pilot lamp.

I am using Shell AX7 10W40 just for change and heard it has good amount of zddp . I have been using it for 400 kms and it here are my views

                  1. Oil is smooth on engine, sound of engine is deepened and vibrations are lowered upto some extent

                  2. Early morning starts are quick and engine warms up easily, no shutting offs

                  3. This oil takes away the punch of extreme in almost complete rev range

                  4. You can feel slight lower acceleration while nailing the throttle mostly in 6k rpm and above

                  5. In lower rpms oil is good and holds consistency even in red lines

So if you are city rider and enjoy revving this might not be best oil , though for constant high speed rides this will aid more protection

For my next oil change I will seek for Shell rimula R3X 5w30. It is oe oil for Swift . Being hdeo couple of oil changes will certainly clean engine nicely.

How much does a sproket kit costs??

My front shocks are not doing there job recently. Should I change oil now or wait a few Ks of kms??

Whats the life span of clutch plates?

Changed to shell 10w40 ss, its superb, was using veedol takoff 10w30 for 3~4K kms, vibration reduced to at least 1/3

                        1. Carb afr screw have no idea about it.. how to check the perfect position for afr screw?

                        2. It is not water droplets.. It seems like oil/petrol leakage.. I checked the under belly part of the bike.. from where the carb wire is left down.. its sticky and oily.. black sticky material stuck my hands..

                        3. Service guys showed a place to put water.. after doing it the noise increases... he even says to change the brake liner..

                        4. My ride has clocked 2020 kms as of today. Only first service done. Second service is at 3k kms. Never crosssed 70kmph yet.. Till how many kms should i run-in the bike.. till 3rd service which is at 6000kms. Uaing hero oil as of now. The oil used in service center itself.

                        5. Chain adjustment was tight after first service. Which was rectified the other day itself of the first service. Clutch play is proper.

                        Thanks again.

no need to touch AFR yet. 2020km is nothing yet. let it run more before u try to adjust AFR.
Adjusting AFR is not so easy even. it comes from experience. What we usually do it increase the ideal srew to upto 3k rpm then adjust the AFR screw to get most highest rpm level.

It would take 10k kms to get the engine completly free and set. You can drive at full throttle but it wont clock more as it would do after 10k kms.

Proper adjustment of chain is very important to get the best performance, mileage and life of chain. Dont get it adjust by any mechanic outside because they always overtight it. so it always better to do yourself. and dont forget to lube it properly. mechanic use burn engine oil to lube the chain which is very bad for chain. burn engine oil wont protect the chain from wearness. Always use new 80-90 gear oil to lube the chain. Your owner book will tell you everything.

For engine oil, go for 10w30 only. go for veedol which is much better than shell oil. Only use mineral oil upto 6-7k kms not syth or semi-syth, only mineral.

The front sproket of my bike was worn out (3 teeth completely gone) the 2 sprokets chain cost -900/- I got it for a discount at rs800 (original). My bike had done 27500km.

For a longer service life of chain sprokets, need to adjust chain 1 to1.5 inches lose/play. And thoroughly clean/wash and oil (with gear 140 grade) chain sprokets every 1000kms, this way it will give more life.

The life of the clutch depends on how one rides the bike.

I wont touch the afr screw.. as i dont have any knowledge related to it..

Now which oil did service center guys used i dont know.. it was of 10w30 grade.. they filled from the drum.. had a pipe attached to it..

Till when should i maintain the 5k rpm limit.. I feel the need to accelerate the bike on highways between 80-90kmph.. but never cross 70kmph.. thinking of the run-in..

I am thinking to change engine oil after 3rd service gets over.. as heard from many that it lasts only 2k kms.. not more that that..
Chain adjustment is proper but was over lubricated.. the oil was leaking previously.. now its all ok.. no leakage.. the extra pumped oil leaked out i think..

But the mileage part is still the same..
I am getting mileage of 36kmpl.. which is low.. before first service.. i used to get 41

                            Thanks!

No need to maintain 5K RPM limit as your bike has done more than 2,000kms, just accelerate gradually and there shouldn't be any problem.

Check the slack in chain by removing the rubber cap on the lower part of the chain cover. When you push the chain up, your finger must touch the upper part of that cap hole that is it should have around 1.5 inch of slack.

If using barrel oil then change it within 1500kms, oil from sealed bottle (Made by Tide Water or Savita oils) is good for 2,000kms.

Change the Petrol Pump and do a tankful-tankful mileage test.

Are you saying 26k is good or asking.

At 26k if you maintain your bike chain will not require replacement.

My bike has crossed 27 k and still the sprockets are as blunt as new sprockets. May be because i lubricate with SAE 90 grade gear oil and never open the throttle suddenly to give the transmission a jerk.

Fore front shocks change the oil with Escorts or endurance fork oil.

Regarding clutch plates then they can run for anywhere 20k to 80 k depending on usage. My clutch still feels new like the day brought because i never use the clutch only for half a second to change gear and never ride the clutch.

I have used 10W 40 Veedol super swift, and shell Ultra fully synthetic. The main problem with 10W 40 oil is that it blunts the punch that extreme is famous for. Use 10W 30 like Veedol or Gulf and bike will be smooth.

Wait for some days as HX 250R will be launched and before that Hero will launch 10W 30 fully synthetic oil from Tide water and those having warranty will be able to retain warranty and will be able to use Fully synthetic in showroom itself.

                                +1

Quite well said as adjusting AFR is not easy in fact most difficult among all bike works and more so in CV carbs.

Yes engine will take 10k rpm to be free as before 10k rpm my bike will struggle to cross 105 and the most will be 110 kph but now my bike at 27k and last week i tested the top speed at 118 kph( true speed as speedo matches with GPS in extreme as sensor same as ZMR and wheel also). Would have touched 120 if wind was less. I have touched a true top speed of 119 kph a couple of times.

Chain maintenance will prolong the life of chain, not only chain but everything. Proof is my Joy kit lasted for 98k kms before replacing.
And you have said right owners book has a lot of information.

For engine oil always use 10 W 30 in extreme.

                                Thanks!

For mileage check air filter, the donkeys at service center would have fitted someones else air filter by mistake.

For Hero oil from bottle drain period is anywhere between 1000-1200 km and not more and the barrel oil maximum 800-1000 km.

                                Ok some for my bike:-

My bike is running beautifully and has crossed 27k, bike is pulling much better than before and accelerating very rapidly towards redline.

Climate in ODISHA is very extreme as in winter the temperature drops to 8-9 degrees in night and morning and in summer temperatures hovers at 46 degrees for 15 days.

So during this winter when i would return to office on monday i will be completely dressed in winter clothes like woolen inners for legs, a shirt then on it a sweater and then a jacket on it and i used to wear two gloves, one riding gloves and other a thin woolen gloves.Since i start at 6 AM in morning it is very cold and even in this much protection body gets cold. After riding for 90 kms i stop near a station named SOLARI when the sun would be shining and will just park the bike and grasp the engine with the gloves to put back heat in the hands.
