Help pls... My xtreme has a strange behaviour after the plug change. It does not start in a single clik. And when it get started rpm will be at 750 rpm but after a few seconds it will be 950 rpm. I adjusted rpm at 1.3k when bike is hot. Also rpm is fluctuating. Inspected plug and it is dark brown in colour so i think afr is correct plug gap is .8 mm

Hi sibun and princesirohi

I own a CBZ Xtreme 2012 (No Kicker) model and I am planning to go for Full DC conversion. I've been running on a HID (with stock reflector) for about 4 months now without full DC setup and now I'm experiencing a definite fall in battery. I've a few queries (probably naive) and I want your advice on same. I read in the forum that you've done it successfully and probably the first one to do it in the new model. Please help me on following:

1. Is the stator coil setup in CBZ X oil dipped? Do I need to flush the engine oil before opening stator?

2. Which side of the bike is the stator present (left or right) considering I am sitting on the bike in a normal position?

3. Do I only take the output from the lightning coil and feed it to APE RR or do I make the lightning coil and charging coil as a continuous unit and then take the full output?

4. If it is the second case, then how many turns of wire per stator pole are required and what wire guage will be good? Any special wire brand in your suggestion?

5. By default, what is the Ah rating of the stock battery of CBZ X? Wherever I read on forums, they mention -4AH. Probably they've copied from Hero website but how can it be negative (In that case, CBZ owners will be proudest of the fact that their battery gives output for free and will never die ). At some forum, I read it is 7Ah.

6. Since my bike has no kicker, will this mod cause any problems with the starting mechanism?

7. This one is specially for princesirohi. Considering that you're closest to Pune who's the first one to get this mod done successfully in your bike (Pulsar?) I want to know where did you get the stator winding done in Pune? Whichever mechanic I asked, they look at me as if I am asking them to build a Rocket! They had no clue what I was talking about. If you've done it yourself, can you please guide me doing it on my bike? I can ride down all the way to Lonawala as that won't be a problem

A. I have a Hero Honda Hunk. So it is applicable to you too. And yes, you will need to flush the engine oil.

2. Which side of the bike is the stator present (left or right) considering I am sitting on the bike in a normal position?

A. Left side as far I can remember.

5. By default, what is the Ah rating of the stock battery of CBZ X? Wherever I read on forums, they mention -4AH. A. 4Ah.

6. Since my bike has no kicker, will this mod cause any problems with the starting mechanism?

A. I've been using this setup for close to 18 months now. Have only experienced problems if I try starting the bike when the lights are turned on.(I use a 55/60W bulb by the way)

Thank you guys in Advance!

Can I fix this relay?
cbz switch controls +ve?? but relay needs ground. Anyway
What you got is a heavy duty relay used in cars especially ambassadors and jeeps for fixing those big steel horns from roots.

This relay works by using the ground as negative and the good thing is that our bikes ground is negative, so nothing to worry.

There are two wires from our horn button. Check the continuty between both wires and ground. The wire that shows continuty with ground is negative wire and the other is positive wire.

So connect the battery to relay at B point with a 1.5 sq mm wire of preferably finolex make. Connect the positive of horn button to the S terminal and connect the other wire to ground.

Take two wires from the H point and connect the two wires to both the horns in parrallel. The other two points of both horn connect to ground and your horn is good to blow.

I always use 4 point relay as it is best for bikes and i will post my bikes relay wiring on weekend when i connect to broadband at my home.

I didn't try full throttle though. I could sense some blank spots on acceleration and there were blank spots on deceleration too.
The bike misfires occasionally on deceleration after speeding for 60+kmph for few seconds. The bike heats up a bit more.
Also, the mileage is still 38-39 kmpl in city. Sadly, I have been getting almost this mileage even before overhaul.

I suspect if the exhaust could be a problem here. The bike was run for almost 10k with smoking exhaust that could've completely clogged exhaust.
Mechanic had told he has cleaned the exhaust with Kerosene, I don't completely believe, because there is hardly any engine sound coming thru exhaust even now.
This is just my assumption, pour in your thoughts please.
Take the exhaust to a good quality Gas welder and get the cat con cleaned by burning the silencer over the Cutting flame. Also get the partitions cleaned properly. Much the same way as two strokes bikes exhaust are cleaned after every 10k. Take it to a reputed welder who is an expert in bikes exhaust cleaning.

Man 10k with smoking exhaust, that silencer will have all its partitions and cat cons hole blocked with soot and oily carbons. Get it cleaned with the help of welder and after that get the carb tuned properly.

Check the mixture setting as the new plugs firing is better and if you have adjusted the mixture on old plug then it will need re-tuning.

Please help me on following:

1. Is the stator coil setup in CBZ X oil dipped? Do I need to flush the engine oil before opening stator?

Yes, extreme stator is oil dipped. No need to flush the engine oil. Just complete the work and use new stator cover packing. After running the oil for some time drain the oil and fill new oil.

2. Which side of the bike is the stator present (left or right) considering I am sitting on the bike in a normal position?

The stator is to the left side of the bike. near the self motor.

3. Do I only take the output from the lightning coil and feed it to APE RR or do I make the lightning coil and charging coil as a continuous unit and then take the full output?

No only taking the lightning coil and making DC will cause severe power lose in AC circuit. You can make the coil as continuous one by removing the center tap and joining the coils in series. Then taking the output from the both ends of coil to APE RR unit and then connecting it to battery. You can connect the yellow wire of AC after rectifier to DC through ignition.

Yours is new model and pumps 140W OF POWER AND will be easy to run.

However if you want more power then what you can do is re-wind the wires in clockwise and anticlockwise by using 19G wire which will increase the amperage of the output. Then what you can do is follow the same step as above using APE RR unit and you can effortlessly run 60/55 W bulb along with one auxiliary lamp on leg guard.
4. If it is the second case, then how many turns of wire per stator pole are required and what wire guage will be good? Any special wire brand in your suggestion?

The number of turns depends on the workmen as how closely and better he is at winding. A good winder will pack in lot of wire. Use 19g or else 17g if you want more ampere at low RPM.

There are no brands as such, just ask for good quality copper wire in fan binding shops. Also buy a 100 ml of insulating varnish.

5. By default, what is the Ah rating of the stock battery of CBZ X? Wherever I read on forums, they mention -4AH. The old model had 7 AH battery and after the alternator power was boosted it was changed to 4AH battery, will not cause any problem unless you use lights particularly 60/55 w and auxilary lamp with engine turned off.

6. Since my bike has no kicker, will this mod cause any problems with the starting mechanism?

No will not cause any problem to starting unless headlight and auxilary lights are used with engine in off state.

7. This one is specially for princesirohi. Considering that you're closest to Pune who's the first one to get this mod done successfully in your bike (Pulsar?) Replies in bold.

shoeb2015- Remember i had told you that on 8th of march had filled petrol from unknown pump while returning home and bike slowly lost power and vibrated badly.

Also on 10 th when i returned i couldn't fill from my regular pump at bhubaneswar and filled on the highway. The vibration reduced but the engine heat and power problem was still there and was decreasing but not upto required quantity.

On 16th i got the Joy tank repaired and touched it up at my painter. At that time decided to use 2T oil at the rate of 1ml for every litre of petrol to prevent rusting of tanks. Decided to do it in every bikes. So bought two pouches of Servo 2T, as my friends shop was closed due to Holi , and also Servo 2t are semi synthetic and JASO FC grade.

My reason for going for 2T was that normal engine oil will foul the plug, short it and also deposit carbon. So 2T will burn clean, will not cause carbon deposit, will not foul the plug, will prevent the tank from rusting, and also will not cause gummy valves.

So filled the extreme with 10 liters of petrol, 10 ml of IFTEX SYSTEM G, and 10 ml of SERVO 2T. Also did the same for Joy and pleasure.

Now on tuesday while i was returning, i could feel the difference in some 20 kilometers.

Some differences are:-

1. Bike felt way smoother almost like a ZMR while returning. I was almost concertrating where to find vibes, but it was almost negligible.

2. Bike was sounding smoother. Since my bike is at 30k (almost) and head is having carbon deposits so engine was feeling streesed in mid range. That thing is almost gone, heck surely gone.

3. Could maintain higher speeds with same throttle opening with cruising at 85-90 kph comes effortlessly.

4. Bike was not heating and was also pulling revs very smoothly. While pulling hard i was watching the rev meter and it was climbing so smoothly that i couldn't even feel the engine working hard.

So my doubt is can 1 ml of 2t be so beneficial. Also not to mention two other factors as 1. Filling from my trusted pump of 8 years, 2. Adding of IFTEX SYSTEM G with 2t.

I think the 2T along with SYSTEM G had worked on the engine. Had opened plug today and to see if carbon is there and i was glad that finally the brick red color of my Joys plug is on the extreme plug.

Have read the benefits of PIB in the 2T oils and its benefit.

Also had stopped using system G some weeks back to note the difference and the difference was the throttle response was not swift, bike was feeling rough and also sound and pick-up was smooth. So i think the IFTEX SYSTEM G along with 2T has done a world of difference.
psr sir any inputs from you will be helpful.

I have been listening to this since childhood that pouring half pouch of 2T oil in full tank of petrol will keep engine healthy never believed until this, If sibun has tried it and is affirmative on that regard i guess its safe to use, since i dont have IFTEX available here, gonna try wee bit of 2t oil and report changes here, never knew fuel would make such a drastic change in behavior of bike.

I think you haven't completely read the post properly. My main objective was to prevent rusting in tanks and also protection of float sensor from damage due to corrosion. 2T oil was used because any engine oil you use, will cause carbon deposit, short out the plug and will also cause sticky valve and compression leakage. 2T oils are made to burn with fuel and they burn clean with no residue. All 2T comes with JASO FC certification which is semi synthetic oil with low ash content and has PIB. This ensures that it burns compleely with no residue or carbon formation. Moreover with the 2T oil the petrol will have lubricating property in it for valve trains and top of bore. Also you forgot that i used only 1 ML per 1 L that is 1:1000 ratio which is negligible to cause any damage. At the most spark plug will get sorted if used more. The PIB in the 2T ensures that fuel is atomized properly, and also prevent sudden burning of smaller molecules of air fuel mixture thus ensuring better combustion and healthy power. Also i have opened the spark plug after riding 200 km and spark plug is clean like before and the color is reddish which indicates 2T has not left any carbon residue. Try adding 2T in 1ML for every litre by buying a small pouch from indian oil pump and then report.

Kya yaar! tum bhi. If sibun has tried that means it ok. Man you are just crazy. As for the IFTEX then go to big BP petrol pump and ask there, you will get it else ask me i will ship it from here.Yes add 2T @ 1 ml per litre and be sure to use JASO FC oil. Buy from indian oil pump those 20 ML pouch and use in 20L of fuel. But my experiments are not yet over as i have done the same in my Joy and have not ridden afterwards, will ride it on weekends and then will post a clear verdict. As my Joy is always filled at my known pump and always uses SYSTEM G. So benefits will be known now, this weekend. But 2T is not a substitute for system G as system G has a lot of benefits which i have discussed before. 2T oil just prevents tank from rusting, protects float resisitor and also keeps the fuel molecule standardized.

Ha HA! good sense of humor. Man engine doesn't explode, you are saying as if using Nitro Methane in engine instead of petrol.Man 2-3 ML, seriously i think it is more. I am safe at 1 ML or at the max 1.5 ML per litre. Also i forgot to ask you, why this promotion from Karizma to Discover 100.

Yes exactly, but a good welder knows where to cut so that a single cut will give access to all the partitions and cat con.

Usually the oil burning stains are sticky and doesn't leave easily. What he will do is burn the carbon with blow torch which will make the gummy residue to get burned and fall off as powdery carbon.

I had been using the Castrol Super TT(2T) for the past 12 years in my car and also in ZMA since 3years. I use it for the same reason as Mr.Sibun had mentioned and also to get a better smoothness.....
System G is a cocktail of different additives.....from what I heard of similar additives used in foreign countries , the contents are supposed to be a mix of Acetone, Toluene, Kerosene ,ATF , and coloring agents...the mix levels or Ratios are not known. The Acetone and Toluene help in good homogenous combustion while the kerosene and ATF helps in lube of upper cylinder ... This is what I had learned so far..still reading and trying to learn.

The oil kept my slide happy so didn't bother much about it.

They got me a Discover 100 4G, the upside is I can ride to college and back home for just 650~1000rs. Where as with ZMA I would've had to spend a fortune on fuel.

But on the downside one side is around 15hrs on the saddle, where as ZMA would've covered the same distance in half that time.

But I thought ZMA was the king of highways , heard it had FE = 40 - 50 kmpl ( approx. ) on highways ... , No ?

Ya sometimes we have compromise on some aspect.

Not only you would have spent more on fuel but also on maintenance.

But ya the time would have been half and the comfort level will be nearly 4 times than that of discover.

Moreover not to forget engine life as Karizma will go on and on.

Yes Karizma is still unparalleled on highways but the mileage is not that much.Mostly in the region of 38-40 kpl. Its the ZMR that beats all when mileage on highway is calculated because of that FI engine.

But that is not the main point, but the main point is the seating position, the huge torque spread and the super smooth engine is what makes the karizma a great tourer and king of highways, and what it lacked in performance will be filled up by the new models, which will once again prove a tourers delight.

If I ride between 60~70kmph on the ZMA then 50kmpl on the highway isn't that hard to achieve, and at the same time if I ride the Discover at speeds of 40~50kmph 80+kmpl is also not that hard to achieve, but in reality, my ZMA never went below 115kmph on TN highways and a for the Discover it would be buzzing at speeds of 75~80kmph, which translated to 35'ish Kmpl on the ZMA and 50'ish kmpl on the Discover.

Irrespective of the cost I would prefer the ZMA, but then my family's completely against the idea. I was about to get my ZMA's front end fixed to ride it to B'lore when mom called me back inside the house and within the next half an hour got me the Discover. But irrespective of the bike, a biker is always a biker no mater what the circumstance, hence I now tour KL~KA on my Discover

And Sibun bro, as for the seats, 500rs spent at an upholstery shop, redid the seat, now its comfy like a sofa.
