re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Thanks a lot PSR Sir and Sibun for your advice. I'll follow a run-in for 1000 kms for sure. I'll drain this oil @ 500 kms.
Can you guys suggest any particular mineral oil. IMW I believe Gulf pride 10w30 is a mineral oil only since its not possible to get a SS oil in just Rs. 200/-
itsmevini123: I reside in Laxminagar, East Delhi, and this mechanic has a small garage nearby my flat, but there is no sign board on his shop. I can share my number with you, if its convinient for you to travel to Ramesh Park, Laxminagar.Last edited by nishesh.kumar; 08-28-2013, 10:36 AM.

Nishesh - It would be nice if you could share the price at which you bought the spare parts.Originally posted by nishesh.kumar View PostHi All,
My Xtreme (ODO-28 K) was consuming engine oil since last 6 months. I had to top up with 200-250 ml of engine oil after every 800 Kms.
Ultimately, I became fed-up with this thing, since the mileage also decreased from 45 to 38 KMPL along with engine oil consumption.
Then, I consulted PSR Sir, who listened to my problem and suggested to go for new cylinder kit, instead of ring replacement.
So, today morning I visited my trusted mechanic. After inspecting the bore, he also suggested to go for complete kit, as the old rings were busted and there was gap between the rings and bore which was more than the service limit. He also told that re-boring jobs are cost-efficient, but success rate is low due to faulty workmanship of lathe guys. He also suggested to change the Valves and Valve seal. Valve guides were fine, since no play was found.
Then, I went to the famous Karol Bagh Market, and purchased following parts;
1. Original Cylinder Std. Kit (Part No. 21K180S)
2. Valve set (USHA)
3. Valve steam seals (Part No. 12209-GB4-685)
4. NGK CPR8EA9 Spark plug
5. Gulf Pride 4T 10w30 engine oil
I returned to my mechanic @ 04:00 PM. He sent one of his worker with the cylinder head and new valves to lathe workshop for re-seating of valves.
In the meanwhile, he installed the new kit, and after 30 minutes his worker returned. Then he installed the head and checked the valve clearance along with tappet adjustment.
At 05:30 PM, my bike was ready
@ PSR Sir: I am really thankful for your guidance. You listened to all the problems very patiently, and I must admit that all this thing couldn't have been so smooth and trouble free without your guidance. Thanks a lot Sir...

Now a few queries from my side;
1. Should I follow a run-in for 500 Kms, to allow the new bore to settle (My mechanic told that there is no need to follow any run-in
)
2. When should I change the current engine oil. (Early or after usual interval of 1800-2000 Kms)

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
A few months ago my engine got sound like loose tappet.
I thought it was loose tappet, but went to SVC,
they told the bearing of cam shaft was damaged and need to replace. they quoted me 3500/- and I paid nearly 3200/-
On the bill there are several items out of that only one item was ~2500/- I think it was that bearing.
Now I doubt as cylinder kit costs 2824 only, then does a bearing costs 2500?

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Hi All,
I am Guru, from Chennai. After a long search and analysis, i bought Hero Xtreme 2013 Model on June 24th as per my friend suggestion.
I was happy with my decision in initial days, as my bike was super smooth (Never rode above 45KMPH).
The joy of riding my bike tempted me to complete the first 500 KM in 5 Days
. After 4oo KM, Gear shift was not proper, i had faced many false shifting, but then my friend told it will be resolved in first service. As like he said after my first service Gear Shifting was smooth, but then other problems were identified
1) Whenever i ride for more than say 10 KM, Engine becomes so rough, such that i cant ride the bike , particularly @ 45 - 65 KMPH the bike became so worse that vibrations were so much my hands will become NUMB (An accident would have almost happened due to this
. I m just alive because still i feel my bike loves me )
2) But the engine power remained same like even at the rough time, when i go past 70 KMPH bike became smooth, but riding in chennai city, its impossible to go in that speed always.
3) Reported the same to service center, first they accepted that Bike has too much of vibrations and roughness. They told they will resolve the problem, but after 2 days i got a call saying that my bike is absolutely fine and no problem . I was like
. Remember this is not 2 nd service My bike had done now 1000 Km. I was worried so much, after 5 years i got a chance to ride a bike, my OWN bike. I am travelling to office daily for 20 KM, i can see this issue, also i feel Gear Shift became hard day by day. No body in service center is understanding the Bike problem. I m just telling them in simple manner.
First 5 KM -> Super Smooth Ride
Next 5 KM -> Roughness of the engine starts
After 10 KM -> Lot of vibrations and roughness felt (btw 45KMPH to 65 KMPH). Engine sound becomes different and i am hearing some rolling kinda sound which was not existing before.
But still they were unable to identify what is the problem.
Seeing my RAJ (my Bike name) like this, i m feeling like hell. I m not good at Bike Mechanisms, but then following are the things i followed
1) I didnt RIP my bike anytime
2) Checked Engine OIL level
3) Asked mechanic to check Air Filter and to check carb.
Serviced in "Adyar Motors, Chennai".
Please help me in this problem. After all I love my Raj.

welcome to xbhp,
When I read your post i thought I am reading my expereince.
xtream will behave like this till 5000kms, gear shift problem will disappear after 2.5k
After that vibrations will disapper to an extend but it wont completly disapper.
My problem was also same, i used to ride on 55~60 where it vibration is worst.
you have to go long rides and shoot ip 80~90 after the run in , it will make the engine more smoother.
also try 20w40 grade oil after run in. it will reduce the vibration.

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Switch your engine oil to 15 w 40 or 20w40 ...you can go for a Mineral oil of the following make.... Gulf, Motul, Shell AX 5, Valvoline,....the acceleration will be marginally less but engine will feel better..Originally posted by GuruXtreme View Post

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
I think its better to stick to hero recommended oil till run in or at least 5000
you can buy oil from any local lub shop and oil change can be done by a mechanic.
