re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Hello, all. My last post was when I crashed my bike. Got it back around 2 weeks back. I posted the whole story, but internet connection was lost and all I had typed was gone. So dint bother to write it all again. Anyways, they took a good 3 weeks to restore her totally[mind you, only cosmetic damage]. I dint bother much, as I was busy with exams and project work. Here's my bill.
The LHS grip was late, due to accountant's mistake. He printed RHS grip and hence, the part was rejected in the second inspection.
Only this that irritated me to the core during my ownership so far-Engine Head Gasket.
First replacement-1410 kms.
Second -1957kms
Third-2433kms.
Bike crashed at around 2949. When started riding, at around 3100 it started again. Met Riaz at a g2g, and he asked me to change the SVC, yet I went back to same guys. SVC said, it was just a splash[or the word he was using:chim??]. Washed it and returned. At 3500 I noticed, oil had spread to the second fin from the top. Pissed, went the SVC and blasted em, big time. Got my Engine head block changed under warranty today. Here's another interesting convo.
Me: Itna jaldi a gaya part?
SVC: Order kiya toh 15 din lagtah. I will remove new bike's head and replace yours. :|
Din't speak further, was getting my job done. And, also got my LHS grip only today :|
My service was due on 7th. So got it done today. Asked them not to change oil, as I had switched to Veedol just the day before crash[600 kms ago]. They charged me a bill of 84Rs, with 75 as Kerosene costs. Again, din't argue much there. Veedol Take off is surely an amazing oil. I am loving the way bike is cruising at 60-75. Reduced vibes[close to nil], engine revvs well too. This is just the first oil change I made[to a new brand ie].

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Hi Guys,
I have rode 300 kms since the engine overhaul of my xtreme. Bike's performance is satisfactory, and she is giving average of around 45 kmph. I' m also following the run-in, and have never taken her above 5 K rpm.
NOTE: Today morning, I went for PUC test of my bike, since the last one had expired. The measured CO2 level was 4.2%, whereas the threshold is 3.5%
Then I consulted my mechanic, who told that it's normal for new cylinder kit, and the increased CO2 level is due to the carbon deposited in the silencer. He also told that he'll tune the carb in the next servicing and there is nothing to worry.
Whats your take on this.

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
hello! to all xbhp members..
well i have been a proud owner of CBZ extreme since 2007 (birthday gift
!)
have been regularly getting my bike serviced from the ASC and have been draining their crap engine oil (after 800 to 1000 km) n swapping mostly with shell AX7
I am totally in awe of Sibun sir and Blogging wheels as have come across their diy's and posts as the most informative
my bike's been quite satisfying till 36- 37K yes there were those annoying tappet noise(which i have come to know as the tappets are marginall loose)
now for the past 500 km or so(my bike's currently at 48k) the throttle response has been giving some problems
the problem is that when i twist the throttle the engine responds after a time lag like there's a void and then there's the response
i haven't got my spark plug changed ever and also the carburettor is same as it came the whole bike is untouched ( i feel a great deal ashamed on saying this)
also theres been a clitter of nut from the bike at around 4- 5K rpm mark
those efffin ASC mechanics haven't been doing ny thing and i am going to service and rectify these problems on my own please people help me out !

i don't really think the mileage would increase using the HHO / oxyhydrogen kit although would be happy to know the experience of people who are using this MODOriginally posted by ATHUL4R View PostSome saying that it will increase milage.
would requet the moderators to make a seprate discussion on HHO kit (if there isn't one also i haven't come across any)

The procees is as follows:-
1. Both the side panels was removed.
2. The tank was removed and kept on an old tyre.
3. The secondary air pipe was removed from head and kept aside.
4. The head cover bolt was opened, one got slipped while opening. This is bound to happen as the thread are made on aluminum and that too only two to three threads are
there, so it will most probably strip when tightening or opening the bolts.
5. Next the head cover was removed and kept aside. I didn't touch any o-ring be it head bolt o-rings or head cover gasket or AIS o-ring. If you fiddle with that then new
o-rings are gaskets are required.
6. The flywheel was rotated and timing was matched. The the rockers were checked and tappets had huge play. No wonder they were making a racket when hot.
7. Inlet valve was adjusted to 0.06mm and exhaust valve was adjusted to 0.10 mm.
8. Next what to do about stripped thread on one side of cam shaft holder which holds the bolt of head cover. There is three way- first is to insert a thin strip of metal
from PAN masala can and tighten the bolt done that on sis pleasure and still working and bolt became tight like factory, next is new cam holder or third is inserting
a metal bush and re-threading in lathe. We decided to try for adhesive and if it didn't work then mwtal strip.
9. Placed the head cover properly on head gasket and applied rubber adhesive on the threads of the bolt. Then inserted it in the side that has stripped threads and
tighten it so that it hold up. No pressure was applied on it. Next the other side bolt was tightened. Remember to tighten the stripped side bolt first and then the good bolt.
next everything was assembled reverse of dis-assembly.
.
sir i don't get the 8th step of the tappet noise part
also sir do look at my post on page 801 of this thread need ur help

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
what i think has happened is that the mechanic has given a rich mixture for the run in period (recommended) thats why the emission level is higher than normalOriginally posted by nishesh.kumar View PostHi Guys,

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Hey guys..
Can anyone please tell me what is the actual difference between hero hunk and honda unicorn..
Except from mono suspension and 1.1 bhp more in hunk than unicorn..
Why everyone suggests Honda unicorn whenever someone asks "Konsi bike lu?"
Mileage of uni and hunk is the same..
Power of hunk is on a greater side.. both share almoat the same engine.. and hink also supports ATFT technology..
Comfort wise which bike is more reliable..?
Long life touring and city ride considering all aspects.. which is a better buy?

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Internally there's alot of difference between hunk and unicorn, hunk has more power and hence quicker pickup than unicorn but has lesser top speed in comparison. Unicorn gives more mileage about 5-10kmpl more depending on the way u ride. U can also check out Honda trigger.Originally posted by AmanZ View PostHey guys..

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Hi All, after the 2 nd service, my bike now again became worse, as i mentioned above (in quotes), gear shifting is hard at times.Originally posted by GuruXtreme View PostHi ALL, for the last 200 KM, my bike is not so rough, but i dono how suddenly it became smoother, may be as you guys said, it will be better day by day. But i have found that Gear shift became hard when riden @ congested traffic, like for example sometimes from 4th to 5th gear the shift happens like "tik tik" and at times only a smooth "tik", what may be the problem?.
Checked the oil level, its fine. Also after some 5KM ride, i m hearing a rolling kinda sound from engine
.
Someone please help me in this. Thanks In Advance

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
my 2011 cbz xtreme, creating lot of problem. cold start in the morning, idealing is not right (RPM not stable), excess amount of noise from engine. Now another one added in this list. ridden on rain for some while(5 min) bike got stalled. not able to start with normal way. got start while using choke but turned off when i released it.
After facing those many above mentioned problems in bike i gave it to ASC. they said, rectified it. But problem still persist. feeling horrible while drive my bike

ATFT is marketing term. Xtreme, Hunk, Trigger, Unicorn, Dazzler have same engine and same technology but different tuning. All these bike are reliable and durable and their life depends on how carefully you maintain them.
No one can give his perspective on YOUR comfort on the bike. Have a test ride and you will know. But still, all these are comfortable enough. I did 650kms from Bangalore to Hyderabad in 10 hours, reached Hyderabad, went to movie, had dinner outside, played some on PS3 and went to sleep. :P
Pick the bike which your heart says to. Mind will adjust according to it.

Idling at morning after first start will be varying a bit, but it will settle down.Originally posted by vrm_venkat1 View Postmy 2011 cbz xtreme, creating lot of problem. cold start in the morning, idealing is not right (RPM not stable), excess amount of noise from engine. Coming to the bike stalling in rains. This pretty old problem and there is a workaround for it. Stalling causes because of water getting blocked in the drain pipe. And the workaround is to remove the pipe that comes out underneath the carburetor for some time and bike will be back to life. This was issue in 2007 models.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme
2008 - Yamaha YZF R15
2009 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme
2013 - KTM 390 Duke
2017 - Yamaha FZ25
