Gulf oil i am using is actually greenish in colour, but the stock oil is dark brown. Once i told the svc guy to change oil in front of me, he filled it from an portable container-it was powered. He pressed on it and it displayed .900 L it had 2 tubes emerging and a brass tip which he put it into the engine oil orifice. For 180 bucks, the quality of that oil was pathetic and i had to put a new bottle HH 4T very shortly. Since then i change the engine oil my self. Consequently i have'nt had my bikes oil strainer screen and centrifugal filter cleaned since long . If now i ask svc guys to clean it the they will drain the gulf oil and hence might lapse my warranty...

Get it cleaned at small service center. Those guys usally dont care about what oil is used. Give them money. They will do the job.

But I can still hear that noise while driving. Pls comment...
Go to the place where you bought and complain to svc head/dealer personally......else complain to regional office www.herohonda.com, complain on toll free number too...

Dude, go to your dealer and threaten to shoot them or bomb the place if the manual isn't given to you pronto. On a more docile note, you could ask for a manual and photocopy it immediately... tell them they can send a mechanic along, if they want. Or catch a Hunk customer who has come for free servicing and photocopy his manual.

I dunno why HH isn't bothered to put up softcopy manuals on their website...

                • I am very curious to know-I have heard cases that well maintained unicorn/cbz-extreme/hunk when sanely driven at constant speed of 50-60 will give mileage of about 60 and also 65 in some cases. But R15, a bike weighing about 17kgs lighter than the former ones, and also equipped with FI rarely gives more than 50 or 52.Why so? BTW Glamour FI gives more mileage than Glamour carb about 75 kmpl vs 65-70 kmpl.

                  • ^ r15, firstly generates around 3bhps more and secondly is a high revving machine, thus to extract the best and keep it in ts powerband you need to be rev-happy with it, thus the lesser mileage.
whereas the glamour FI, apart from the fuel injection does not have any increase in power delivery, thus the increase in fuel efficiency.

You got me wrong . I wasn't talking of going more than 65 kph. You don't have to rev more than 5K to reach that speed. Yes it produces 3 bhp more but it should not affect the mileage IMO. It is a 150 like others.

Oh How I would love to do that...but I dont own a licenced gun ...

I will try to get the manual the way you saying it. photocopy sounds a good idea. I was even thinking of complaining to the zone head but the Pune headquarters is basically pratham motors!!!

My insanely ridden (though just completed 1000 kms) bike is also returning a decent mileage. Reserve at 900 kms, filled 11 litres, (10.8 or something). The current reading is 1380 and still bike to come on reserve. Fuel meter still not touching the red line!. I have ridden around 65-80 kph almost every day for 5 kms atleast, with pillion 60-70kph.

Back to the question, the answer lies in the ignition mapping and also how the fuel is used on the bike. From what I understand the 150 cc engine of the R15 is mapped to deliver performance and so builds revs faster than other bikes (also the reason for poor low end performance). This means it generally runs a comparitively rich mixture and so FE is affected.

The replies given by others are true to a large extent.
I would like to state that the R15 rarely gives 50 or 52kmph, even on highways. The average is 38-43kmpl in city&45+on highways. The best I could extract was 48kmpl, by continuous cruising between 80-110kmph. City I get 43kmpl consistently.

P.S. Have a look at the mileage poll on the R15 thread-over 50kmpl qualifies for slowest R15 award!

                              • one small query guys

how is the uni stance different from cbz x stance? [is it only the footpegs that are slightly backwards in xtreme]
is xtreme much inferior to unicorn in terms of touring capabilities?

                                thanx in advance
