From the time i have tuned my bike my bike's mileage has risen to 50-55kmpl band...
But the problem which i face is the stalling of engine as sson as i reach the traffic signal.....
And also the vibrations has risen from the earlier levels in the 45-60kmph spped band and after that they reduce drastically...
Can anybody help me with stalling of the engine and also the vibration reduction in the above speed band?Hero Honda Dawn-2009-2011

What's the idling at hot and cold? And is the stalling only if the engine is cold?Originally posted by tusharxtreme View PostFrom the time i have tuned my bike my bike's mileage has risen to 50-55kmpl band...

Vibrations, not much you can do about it in my opinion. I had read that this has more to do with resonance, so not much that is in our hands.Hero Honda Hunk 2011, RC'ed, DC'ed, MC'ed! :P

Start Refusal
Guys , I had a weird problem in my recent 120 km trip...after driving at 50-60km/hr , I stopped for a tea break , When i tried to start the bike it just kept cranking but wont start..
I was really worried , at last i put it in 2nd gear and gave it a roll start and it came to life again...I was afraid to stop the bike again and went straight to my destination...
My query is what and why is this hot start problem...Never had this anytime before...

guys i have covered 67000+ kms in my cbz xtreme now its making noise from engine especially from head and my oil level is decreasing slightly
is the piston rings are worn out is it the problem with the piston or cylinder
is it neccessary to overhaul bore or replacing piston after 60000+ kmsHH Karizma (CURRENT)

Guys,
I'm facing a problem from last couple of days, the bikr takes a long time to get warmed up after cold starts, cold starts have become difficult even with choke ON!
Gives some misfiring sound in cold starts.
background: Hunk that has clocked close to 30k kms, burning oil for last 5k kms, need to top up oil around 500 kms, still getting mileage 40 km/l.
I suspect a fouled spark plug(which was cleaned 400 kms ago), spark plug gap(it was cleaned by a local mechanic, he's just a boy around 15 years, he had adjusted the spark plug gap), carburetor setting (but I didn't touch it for quite sometime)
Your thoughts, advises please?

Sibunji received your message
Veedol super swift 10W 40 - using it after reading sibuns posts - very satisfied with the oil .Originally posted by Imran Syed View PostHi Guys,
Which is the good engine oil for HH HUNK in summer?ODO is 6k.
any brand in Semi synth?????
Please check the manual for aligning the T mark it varies from bike to bike - my bike tappets was set wrongly from the first month itself when i bought the bike - from then on it was running on either tight clearance - only after i set it myself to correct clearance the bike is performing well - so i immediately can make out the change in pickup unlike you.Originally posted by Honda_CBF View PostSorry for my vague statement bro. with "nothing happened" I mean no performance gain was noticed, when I adjusted tappets keeping the index mark aligned with "T". Anyways thanks for the info.
I have seen many hunks that dont require bore kit change even after 70000+ kms but then there are also bikes like mine that starts smoking after 30000kms - are you sure the sound is not from tappet ?. New bore kit install at SC will set you back by 5K they will also give you 6 months warranty on a new bore kit or 7500kms whichever comes earlier.Avoid SCs that dont give any warranty on new bore kits.Originally posted by vineeshvv View Postguys i have covered 67000+ kms in my cbz xtreme now its making noise from engine especially from head and my oil level is decreasing slightly

I too suffered a lot like this before the bore kit change - most of the problems went away after the half engine overhaul - the SC people said if you drive like that by topping oil the con rod will develop play and you will have to open the entire engine which will burn a even bigger hole in your pocket - you can do all the basic servicing yourself all you need are tools that cost less than Rs 500 and some multi purpose greaseOriginally posted by SatSon View PostGuys,

On a recent 600km trip the RPM shot to 1600rpm( cruised at 70-80km/hr for 170 kms nonstop) then i reduced it to 1400 :P.Originally posted by tusharxtreme View PostThe idle at hot is around 1500rpm and at cold around 1150 rpm....
The left side of my head light assembly became loose during this trip - it was dangling all the way and making noise whenever i hit a pothole - i think this is going to be expensive to fix

Yes there is a senior member whose Hunk has clocked more than a lakh kms.Originally posted by sarbanoxley View PostI have seen many hunks that dont require bore kit change even after 70000+ kms but then there are also bikes like mine that starts smoking after 30000kms - are you sure the sound is not from tappet ?. But most of the Hunks/Xtremes start showing problems early like mine, yours....
Yes, today I opened the plug and the plug was too dark with black deposits, i cleaned it and reduced the electrode gap a bit - Yes the engine roared back to life.
I think the burning oil is creating lot of carbon deposits that the spark plug gets fouled soon.
I have been thinking for getting the engine overhaul done for around 6 months now! Each time I had to skip it due to other priorities.
Looks like I have to sell her in some time without doing the engine work and go for another bike (used one again?) !

yes, its black fine powder,Originally posted by riazmomin View PostNo need to replace the pluc unless its gone bad.
If the powder is blackish on sparkplug...then bike is running rich.
last month i tuned carb in such a way that I am getting ~7km more, i think i turned the screw 1/4 turns clockwise.
so the presence of black powder says that i can turn further more
mileage 50~57kmpl

Yeah like sibun pointed out earlier SAL bore kits suck balls - my bike came with one from the factory - despite my best efforts to find a USHA kit none of the SC or the HH parts dealer would allow me to check the kit before buying it and as a result i ended up with the SAL kit once again - frankly if this kit runs for another 20K kms without any trouble i will be happy - just completed 10000kms on the new bore lol - next time i will only settle for the USHA kit .Originally posted by SatSon View PostYes there is a senior member whose Hunk has clocked more than a lakh kms.

Buying a second hand ride is good but why not first open the bore and check it once ? they will charge you about Rs 500 to open the bore and they will tell you if the condition require to open the whole engine or not - as you have maintained the oil level diligently unlike me who rode all the way to chennai with just 2 tumbler full of gulf 20w 40 lubricating the engine lol - yours will only need a new bore kit to bring it back to shape - why spend tens of thousands of rupees on a new ride ?

Clean the spark plug and see the deposits after some days. I doubt if you will be getting that good mileage if your bike is running rich.

After 3 Years and 8 Months of ownership and 42000kms clocked. My Xtreme is ready to change the hands! Sold it.
It has performed incredibly well. Constant mileage of 50kmpl. Trouble free ownership other than Service center guys screwing up the threads of crankcase by overtightening (replaced for free under warranty).
I was proud of it for being little different.
1. Philips Night breaker headlight
2. The Bar-end weights on handle are from Pulsar.
3. Those Awesome Michelins
4. Gulf 10-30 Oil - The best for this bike
5. The Seat cover - got it done when I bought the bike. It looks new even now.
6. The Black Theme. (Grab Rails, Silencer sheilds are painted powder black)
7. Little decals here and there.
