Superbly maintained bike, limited mods that look nice!Originally posted by riazmomin View Post57kmpl is awesome mileage!
Clean the spark plug and see the deposits after some days. I doubt if you will be getting that good mileage if your bike is running rich.

After 3 Years and 8 Months of ownership and 42000kms clocked. My Xtreme is ready to change the hands! Sold it.
It has performed incredibly well. Constant mileage of 50kmpl. Trouble free ownership other than Service center guys screwing up the threads of crankcase by overtightening (replaced for free under warranty).
I was proud of it for being little different.
1. Philips Night breaker headlight
2. The Bar-end weights on handle are from Pulsar.
3. Those Awesome Michelins
4. Gulf 10-30 Oil - The best for this bike
5. The Seat cover - got it done when I bought the bike. It looks new even now.
6. The Black Theme. (Grab Rails, Silencer sheilds are painted powder black)
7. Little decals here and there.

And why you sold her and which would be your next bike?

Logging in from PC after so many days from office.
Do not worry hero will not stop but update their products. There first product will be a 250 cc bike and then next will be higher displacement bike.Originally posted by balaji.ep View PostYes, engine and technology is still from Honda. Hero is allowed to use their engines up until 2014. Read this article for more info:
Hero, Honda sign new licensing pact till 2014 - Economic Times
I don't think they'll drop the Xtreme, Karizma, Splendor etc. They will mostly use engine's other than Honda's. They may relaunch all of them with more modern engines. Maybe include 4 valve on all of them, DOHC for the Karizma and the like perhaps.
Hi,
I am going to book Xtreme this weekend and while going through the thread I came across the above information.
Now I am confused whether to go for it as there can be demand of the spares after 2014 or required parts may not be available in the market for Xtreme anymore.
My friends are struggling to get the parts for their RX.. I dont want to face the same fate buying Xtreme.
Please throw some light on this.. it would be a great help.[/QUOTE]
Nothing to worry as my joy is 12 years old and still all parts are easily available. That is the beauty of hero which has made it champion in hearts of millions. No matter how old your bike becomes, you will easily get spares. Go ahead and buy CBZ. I think that if you are worried about nonavailability of hero bikes then you cannot know how difficult it becomes for other bikes.
mileage increase doesn't mean your bike is tuned properly. The screw which we are using for mileage adjust is actually not mileage adjusting screw but it is for adjusting mixture. If your mixture is not correct then many problems like idling and power problems will come.Originally posted by tusharxtreme View PostFrom the time i have tuned my bike my bike's mileage has risen to 50-55kmpl band...
But the problem which i face is the stalling of engine as sson as i reach the traffic signal.....
And also the vibrations has risen from the earlier levels in the 45-60kmph spped band and after that they reduce drastically...
Can anybody help me with stalling of the engine and also the vibration reduction in the above speed band?
mileage increase is not an indicator of good tuning.
For information of all i had told that my mechanic had tuned my extreme. After tuning the following changes were observed:-
1. During cold start water will come out just like MPFI cars from silencer.
2. Idling is stable. No need of choke when cold, just touch the self and it will start and idle at 1k rpm. Even when the engine is hot it will idle at 1k.
3. Higher rpm pull is exemplary. Previously my bike used to pull hard after 6k but was feeling like engine is strained but now it is pulling hard and feeling like it will hit the rev limiter in fifth gear easily. An example i am telling that when i had gone one day to some place i was returning. A college guy and his girl friend were returning on dazzler. They were ripping hard. the guy was standard health and that girl was thin(as with all present girls) i blew past them at over 100 kph easily and effortlessly kept on increasing gap.
Welcome to the classic case of valve leakage in extreme. This is common problem in some extreme and solution is to open the valves and reset it. By the way how much km has your bike run.Originally posted by RohIIT View PostGuys , I had a weird problem in my recent 120 km trip...after driving at 50-60km/hr , I stopped for a tea break , When i tried to start the bike it just kept cranking but wont start..
I was really worried , at last i put it in 2nd gear and gave it a roll start and it came to life again...I was afraid to stop the bike again and went straight to my destination...
My query is what and why is this hot start problem...Never had this anytime before...
I will tell you a easy method and your bike will run for another 30k without bore overhaul. Just make sure you do it as soon as possible.Originally posted by vineeshvv View Postguys i have covered 67000+ kms in my cbz xtreme now its making noise from engine especially from head and my oil level is decreasing slightly
is the piston rings are worn out is it the problem with the piston or cylinder
is it neccessary to overhaul bore or replacing piston after 60000+ kms
Do the following:-
1.Buy a std. ring set, head packing, valve oil seals and required parts which you want after opening the bike.
2. Open the bore and clean the piston and ring grooves. Fit new rings and fit back the bore.
3. Open the head, decarbonise it, polish the valves and check for guide wear. If worn change. Valve guides cost cheaper than splendor valve guide.
Do these and will cost within Rs.1500. Your bike is ready for another 30k. If you do late then no more way rather than overhaul.
And special instruction never use 20W 40 in extreme always use 10W 30 or 10W 40. Otherwise you will require early crank overhaul.
All your problems are from one cause-bore.Originally posted by SatSon View PostGuys,
I'm facing a problem from last couple of days, the bikr takes a long time to get warmed up after cold starts, cold starts have become difficult even with choke ON!
Gives some misfiring sound in cold starts.
background: Hunk that has clocked close to 30k kms, burning oil for last 5k kms, need to top up oil around 500 kms, still getting mileage 40 km/l.
I suspect a fouled spark plug(which was cleaned 400 kms ago), spark plug gap(it was cleaned by a local mechanic, he's just a boy around 15 years, he had adjusted the spark plug gap), carburetor setting (but I didn't touch it for quite sometime)
Your thoughts, advises please?
Do not use resistor plug if your engine is consuming oil. It will get sort easily.
Always remember if your engine is consuming oil always use non resistor plug. Resistor plug will blow out in few days if comes in contact with oil.
For knowing if the plug has resistor- just look at number of plug. If it has R in it then it has resistor and if no R then non-resistor. For example splendor has two plugs from mico with part no- UR4A and U4A. The first one is resistor and second is non resistor. Similarly mico makes non resistor plugs for extreme.

Its always a joy reading your replies sibun ji...Well that problem arose around 1850km , Due to which i was worried and changed oil at 2100 with HH 10W30.After which i practiced idling my bike for 5s after a run. Problem didnt arise after that.I must say the drained oil was almost black water with very low viscosity .Is it possible that my valves have leakage this early ...??Also never crossed 95km/hr ( That too touched for a half a sec )One problem i also noticed that by disc makes blik blik kind of noise , but braking is tiny bit spongy , is it normal or there is some problem there also ...Welcome to the classic case of valve leakage in extreme. This is common problem in some extreme and solution is to open the valves and reset it. By the way how much km has your bike run.

Never knew that we have resistor type and non-resistor type plugs! Thanks for the info. I was using UR3DC (recommended for Pulsars) from Mico which is just 3k kms old. And the starting problem has become worse. I believe, as you said the plug has been damaged already, today in traffic signal the bike stopped and refused to get started again! Tried cleaning plug(It was dark black, only yesterday I got it cleaned, but became fouled again) but to no avail. Went to a spare parts shop nearby, asked for non-resistor type. He had only the same UR3DC for Pulsar and NGK resistor type with him. Bought NGK (genuine Hero Honda spare) for Rs.110 as I had to reach office soon and Yes, the bike fired to life again. And the acceleration became smooth, less vibes etc. Don't know how when it is going to stop again.Originally posted by sibun View PostAll your problems are from one cause-bore.

As you said, its all because of sole reason - the damaged bore!
I have been Planning to get it rectified for a long time, but had to skip each time due to other priorities.

Its small query.
My Hero Xtreme's handle used to lock on extreme left and right postion. Now it does not lock on extreme left, i have to turn little bit to right, about 1-1.5" and then it locks. Right side is normal. Is it a serious issue? How to fix this?
I know, Im too cautious but I love her, & care for her too much.. :P and most important every time tilting it to right is irritating.Last edited by rahul.zamre; 02-04-2013, 11:47 PM.
