The person to whom you suggested KBX pads is me, and I am very happy with the results.
Bite is quite good and sharp.
Things that I noticed on the negative side are -> The pads noticeably loose bite when wet. But this can be easily corrected by warming up the disk and pads through a few sharp, controlled brakings. This is esp. felt in highway rides when it rains, in which case there may be longer gaps between two succesive brakings.
-> Brakes need shorter adjustment interval. May be cos the pads wear faster (but no noticeable wear so far). I need to set the free play every 500 kms.

Despite these minute drawbacks, these pads are so good and I would recomend for every Hunk/CBZ owner.

OT - been on a 180 km rain ride with my friend. It was hellua lot of fun.

The pads loose bite when wet because in original pads they rub constantly with disc but in KBX pads they are more apart and thus require few application to warm them.
As far as i know disc brakes do not require adjustment as they are self adjusting and i had told you they will wear out faster as they are non asbestos type and are softer. They will last a maximum of 8k kms but you get superior braking force. Also consider the price, the original is Rs.350 and the KBX is Rs.140. So you can change two pads and a brake oil with the same money.
But the most important thing is that the pads bite furiously.

I don't know how it was 10 years ago, but yes the roads, surroundings, houses, railway platforms, parks( small one) have been upgraded and improved a lot from past 5 years and the big cement factory OCL has grown even bigger !! nearly 2.2x of its original size, cuz it expanded on other side of main road and its BIG ! truly big !

Thanks for information, this sounds great. Once my pads wear out , i'll try KBX ones too. When will the original pads wear out ? btw, i feel braking is adequate with stock ones ( perhaps new ) and MRF Zapper tyres provide good road grip even on wet. Are they good enough for all road conditions ? Even 55-60 kph feels slow on this bike

Yes my extreme has run for 4.5K and the original pads give good braking. The problem is with OE replacement as they are not of same quality that comes with the bike.My friends extreme which has run for 1 lac km always use KBX pads or ANL pads and never OE as we have seen the result.
On HUNK/EXTREME even 90 kph feels slow.
Yes as far as i know Rajgangpur has grown big thank to thr OCL factory. It is a good little town.

          • There is lot of discussions going on regarding disc brakes here, guess you guys can help me out!

Two weeks back I had my bike serviced at an ASC. That time I insisted on checking the condition of my front disc brake as the wheel was not rotating freely and the mechanic told there shouldn't be any problem with pad and for disc brakes wheel rotation is like that only :O. But told he'd change the brake fluid and he did.
After the service the wheel became more tight and the brake bite was very less! He told it is because of the water wash only! It took 2 days to get it back to the normal power. But today immediately on my way to office it immediately lost the braking power and issue still continues. It has become dangerous to ride as it is like there is no front brake.

            Any inputs?

I dont know bro, whats the problem in Hunk disc brakes, same happened with me also, at fourth service service center aligned the disc plate and from that time my disc brake is just not working as it was working before, many time i explained hole story to service center but nothing is happening, now i have completed even my 8th service and disc are in same bad condition i does feel confidence at all, Even i thought to change te complete disc with the pulsar's one, which is not possible i found..., Never let the service centre to touch your disc...

And the HH oil sells for 200 bucks (apprx). Going by the brand name (only), I think it makes sense to buy shell rather than fill the HH oil. Just a guess. Any users? experienced brothers?
Yes. Shell AX5 10w30 mineral is good. But you can also think of AX7 10w40. Cost is little higher, but it is very good. The drain period is also more. I have used both.

Yes I'm using shell ax5 10w30 in my xtreme..its superior than the oem hh oil.
                  Btw its not available in 1litre pack..only 900ml..recently i've paid 240rs...

As long as you use the correct oil grade as mentioned in the manual you would have no problem with the warranty. It does not matter whether you use Shell, MAK, Motul etc its the grade that matters.

AFR adjustment is almost same as other bikes.find the adjustment screw below fuel tank on the gear side.turn it clockwise to make it LEAN and anticlockwise for RICH mixture.

It aint normal.Hitting reserve shoudn't cause an electrical change(Digital trip meter reset) AFAIK.

                          • It's monsoon here. Took my bike for 20 Km ride and it got drenched in mud. I washed it with a soft cloth and discs too, and now even if i rode more than 70 Kms after wash, when applying front brakes it still makes screeeeeeeeeeeeeech !!!! sound and brake biting power has gone down to 60% as well.

Perhaps, Disc pad should be changed after 1 or 2 wash. The screeeech sound is unbearable for new bikes.

Total Kms covered : 310 kms
Maintenance costs : Rs 5 ( gear lever bolt loosened and fell somewhere on road )
Engine Oil : Changed at 270 Km. HH 10W 30 Jaso.
Mileage : Unsure , waiting for Reserve. Looks like it can go another 40-50 kms before going reserve.
                            Fuel Tank : 7.5 lts , 2.2 in reserve
