Find a good independent mechanic and completely remove the brake fluid and clean the master cylinder with spirit. Check the master cylinder piston and if it is worn then go for new piston cost is Rs.150. Similarly check the caliper pistons and oil seal. Usually piston seal are responsible for the pistons to retract and as they harden they do not retract and new piston seals are available. But first change the brake fluid and you yourself buy a new bottle of fluid and give it to mechanic. Also after replacing the fluid bleed the system of air properly. Most good mechanic will do it properly.
I will ask my mechanic more details and let you know.
    Thanks for the reply Sibun.
But why the problem occurs intermittently? Does it got something to do with disc pads? And still the wheel is not rotating freely.
(Actually the problem had got rectified by itself in 2 days, but not sure when it'll appear again?)

    • Done an oil change today. Bought 1L of Yamlube. I was hoping to open up the clutch case and clean the oil filters. But the poor quality socket broke apart, so couldnt do that.
Now I ve around 100 ml of oil left in the bottle. Question is, can this oil be used for topping up after say, a month..? Will it get spoiled coz the seal has been opened..?

Same story here .My cbz front wheel started giving out air in two days .I purchased a foot pump and pumped every alternate day.Asked some tire repairers but I was not satisfied with their answers like put a tube, repaint the rim etc. So one day I took out the tire removed all the air .Tire was pressed and contact removed from the rim ,cleaned the rim and tire edges with soapy water put back the tire and pumped air full and today it is the 15th day no problem. Give a try.

close the lid tightly and keep in safeplace with out dust entering and you can use it for topping up.

          • Rode the bike in full rain from B'lore to Kochi ,Thanks to 4 lane works and kuthiran churam's broken roads . My bike was fully coved with dirt.Next day after cleaning took it out only to hear very dirty squeaking noise from the front disk.when checked the wheel has become too tight put more water and rotated to both sides but did not help .Tomorrow going back. After reaching B'lore will open the caliper and clean the pads .Nearing 14k ,no other problems, changed air filter, spark plug at 12k Tires give good road grip. only problem is the cross winds when traveling in Maharashtra ,Andhra ,Karnataka and Tamil- nadu .

Has any body changed the brake fluid at 20k? Saw such an advice in My Maruti Alto service manual .

Have a nice monsoon ride season . RIDE SAFE.

It is better to change Brake oil at 15 K Kms or 2 years which ever is earlier for safety sake..though the brake will work, it is better to do this since it is safety related...Just my thought.

Hmmm...Surely will try the same. A little more detailed steps please. And regarding the soapy water technique, what is the funda behind it? Did u mean that it was cleaned with soap water or soap water applied like some solution and then the tyres inflated? Thanks

                • Yes , the mating surface between the tyre and rim-lip has to be very clean , dent free and free from defects like abrasion/groove marks to form a good seal . Thats it .

                  • At one tyre shop I was told that there is some paint inside the rim. If that gets chipped off, then the problem of air leakage in tubeless tyres arises. I wish to have a clearer picture than just knowing about generic 'paint' terms.
And Pinaki da, post cleaning the rims and tyres, do I have to fill the tyre with slime? To make it puncture/leakage resistant? I was going through this thread in BCM touring where someone had suggested filling the tyre with slime before inflating. Any insights?

                      • First service

                        Hey Guys,

Tomorrow morning, I'll ride 35 kms away from my home to take my bike for first service. Is there anything that i should take care of while servicing ? like mandatory checks which shouldn't be avoided. Do's and don'ts at service. This is my first service at a service center ever, so i'm being a little optimistic about it. Will i be charged anything at all during first service ?

Yes! Consumables are chargeable. Namely, Engine Oil and any other components that will be used while servicing the bike. Don'ts, I know one, given your mileage figures, ask them to stay far far away from your carburetor. Chances are, unless you specifically say you're getting low mileage returns, this won't be tampered with, but just specify to be on the safe side. Also, make sure they document all the nicks and scratches on the vehicle as you could ask them to them to try and undo any of the scratches that may occur while servicing. Problem being that here in Bangalore, while giving the bike for service, the Job Sheet you sign already has an undertaking which absolves the service center of any responsibility in the event that your bike is damaged during service.

Yes , flaking paint etc debris lodged in between the tyre and rim shall give poor air seal . If paint is flaking , remove it carefully and repaint to smooth finish . No special paint needed , but first just clean it up best you can , inspect for any obvious flaws and refit tyre . Fill air and see for a week if any problem arises .
No , slime was for tubed tyre to make it puncture resistant . Dunno if it is usable (or compatible even) with tubeless . And why add puncture-resistance sealant to an already puncture resistant tubeless tyre ? No need .

Engine oil is not a consumable item for service . You shall be clearly billed for it . By consumables they mean the little bit of grease , polish, cotton-rags etc etc that they use up during service . I think the company well supplies those to them , still they will point out the consumables clause on the manual and make you pay some 25-100 Rs , for which they won't bill you in the main Hero Letter-headed bill form , but just give you a separate chit or kuttcha receipt, usually without any company name on it . Since it is a paltry sum and everyone is worried with their new bike , they pay it. When I carried my own grease-tub, cotton-turnings , oil-can , polish etc etc items with me and offered it to them they said I still have to pay for the consumables because everyone is paying it . When I told them that I am calling up HeroHonda sales manager , they quickly changed tone and hurried up my service - no consumables charges , nor did they need any of my grease . So clearly , it is one of those very Indian malpractices of cheating customers with mis-information .
@ Ashish - Do not sign such a discharge clause untill your bike is delivered and you can ensure it's ok and properly serviced . The items that is to be done during service is mentioned (about 21 items) behind the service slips at the end of you owner's manual booklet which they tear off in advance . So make a photocopy of it in advance of them and later make them verify that they have done each , before you sign on the dotted line . And you have read the owner's manual , no ?

I think you will go to rourkela to service the bike. my bit of advise. do not let them fiddle with the bike. there is no need of checking all the points in manual. just see that they change the engine oil infront of you.clean the airfilter and tighten the chain.get them to wash your veichle properly.also never let them lubricate the chain as they use spent engine oil which is not good. and do not let them touch the carburettor. my extreme is still in its factory tune after 3 service.
just ask them to wash the bike, change the engine oil, clean airfilter and tigthen the chain. your service is over.do not let them do anything extra with the bike as they will only create problems.in my extreme for the three free services i am doing the same and hero honda bikes do not require any thing alse.
