I heard Formula1 uses some abrasive chemicals which corrode / attract dusts and isn't good for long term. Perhaps, I'm being a bit skeptical, but i was wondering if anyone used Turtle Wax ( green box ) or Turtle Wax Platinum .

Don't think it'll fit. You've to change your front forks which is not possible.

The second image is that of an Apache.

I had finally managed to get my hands on the Dazzler Chain. Looks like the Chain Case is coming off soon. But the chain guard is still in the pipeline. Saw a ZM-A with a Pulsar Chain Guard fitted on it. Needed a clamp to hold it in place though due to mismatch in the mountings. Might consider that as well.

                Haha, Thanks. I corrected it

btw, the gear shifts are bad at initial stage. Shifting from 2nd gear to 1st gear on Hunk is very tough and annoying. Takes at least 30-40 secs to do that. Engine kill switch is a must , but alas not present in Hunk. I'd say Pulsar is good at changing gears for initial days.

Hope Gear shifting will be smooth and easy after 2-3 service.

Apart from that, Bike is great fun to ride in city than Highway. I ride everyday 20-25 kms for proper engine break in on highway. Hope i get it right and get Good mileage as well.

While running in, never accelerate/decelerate hard or redline. Take the bike gradually upto around 60 or 70 tops and bring it back down gradually again. Basically, no sudden and abrupt changes in speed.

As far as the gears go, I don't get why you're saying it takes 30-40 seconds to go from 2nd to 1st! Get to the right speed (Don't rely on the speedo, but get to 'feel' and hear the engine out) and just slot down. Don't tap but nudge!

And regarding the brakes, a noticed positive change in the 'bite' of the front brake is observed on changing the front disk pads to those of the Unicorn from KBX. Cheaper and sharper. Mummy also khush, we also khush.
Oh and the Engine Kill Switch, it's a Honda Tradition I guess. The only thing with Honda and an Engine Kill Switch in India is the CBR250R and costs 2L!

                  • I think my Hunk mileage is below 30 not sure ; I have yet to test the mileage, have 7.5 ltrs in tank and additional 2.2 ltrs in reserve. Total kms ridden -> 115 kms in 3 days.

I highly doubt mileage figures being that low. You can try being a little more optimistic.

115km in 3 days? Great. That way, you'll be done with the run-in in less than a month!

I use waxpol car shampoo and its liquid polish for by bike and i wash and polish it every fortnight. You can look at their website. My joy even after 12 years is in its factory paint and still look like new. Some even ask me if you have painted it. My CBZ extreme of six months looks better than showroom bikes.
OT- I have been to rajgangpur some 10 years before. My uncle was posted there in railway and he used to stay at railway quarter. I had stayed there for 15 days. Has rajgangpur developed or still it is like it was ten years ago.

Why are you getting confused. The problem is with the pads as the non-asbestos model has a very low co-efficient of friction. You can use extreme pads of other make like ASK,ANL or KBX and they are of much better quality and cheaper.Although i haven't used it as my extreme is new(4k KMS) but i have changed it in my friends and brakes are superb. It will cost only Rs. 150.
I have advised someone in this forum for his hunk and he is satisfied with the modification. I do not remember who he is but he can come forward and share his experience. Not only extreme but also unicorn, achiever, passion pro(disk),glamor(disc) to change into Replacement disc pads as the OE replacement are useless.

Previously the front sprocket, chain and rear sprocket used to come separately for every bike but in 2006 all was stopped and you can buy only front sprocket or complete kit. You cannot buy only rear sprocket or chain.

                          • Has anyone used Shell 10w30 for their Xtreme/Hunk? I was just window shopping today for lubes and other auto-stuff and found this bottle of oil. The shopkeeper was all thumbs up for the yellow bottle. HH oil is not that good it seems. Seems to lose its viscosity within 1k - 1.5k kms. Btw the Shell 10w30 is priced 250 for a ltr here. And the HH oil sells for 200 bucks (apprx). Going by the brand name (only), I think it makes sense to buy shell rather than fill the HH oil. Just a guess. Any users? experienced brothers?

The chain alone actually. They asked me if I wanted the Chain Sprocket too. I said no.
