My observation is the bike is loosing compression and so not starting .So valve has to be checked for not seating properly because of carbon deposit.(2 times I had put More engine oil ( 1 Ltr.) and 2 or 3 times I used 20 w 40 oil) nearly 16 k on Odo in one year. I will De-carbonize head and valves now.

Same for me, today morning. Bike started normally in single push,kept for warming. After 1 min. I sat on the bike and changed the gear and turned the accelerator, Bike stopped and it never started again.This has happened for me 4 times now. I took out the spark plug .Saw engine oil on the plug threads and plug was totally wet .cleaned it put back the plug and started but bike would not start . then again opened the plug put some engine oil in the S P hole put back the plug and started the bike by continuous cranking till it started .Originally posted by itssaurabh.negi View Post

Hi Friends,
I observed some changes in the CBZ Xtreme riding quality after first service.
1) The front handle has lost some cushion and can feel bad hit to the handle directly whenever I cross the hump or pothole. Something hard is hitting under the headlight or something directly to the under handle. Not sure why this has happened.
(For ex: at around 20-30kmph, if I approach a hump or pothole I apply both front and rear brakes. rear brakes are good and stiff. But, on front brakes; the suspension/fork vibrates a little before it comes to halt)
2) Rear disk brakes still make noise during normal braking
3) Oil has been replaced with std HH 10W30 oil
4) Handle Resonance (mild vibration) after 50kmph. Have never crossed 4K rpm till now.
I am really worried on point 1 since I can feel the difference one front suspension which was so smooth before first service.
Took to SVC guy near my house. (Sai Motors, BSK, Bangalore).
He agreed on mild vibration and rear disc brake noise. For handle issues, SVC guy was saying they purposefully allow a play for front suspension/handle. Not sure how logical it is.
Please advice.Need reply or any good mechanic contact in Bangalore BSK area.

This has happened to my Splendor at around 25k on the odo. The bike wouldn't start and the kicker was going down as if there is no compression. Took it to ASC, they de-carbonized the head/valves and the total cost was around 600(around 8 years back). From your post it seems your handle ball race/cone is not set right(loose), which results in vibrations on handle when braking/riding over potholes/humps.Originally posted by blackstallion76 View PostHi Friends,

The service center guys will always say such aswers like "purposefully allow a play" and all, dont believe. For a new bike, if the cone is set correctly, there will not be any play.
Normally when the ball race wears out, we'd have to set it with a free play, coz otherwise the handle will feel to be stiff, affecting the ride and handling.

Handlebar feels like a vibrator on a road with potholes. And most of our hill roads are like that only. driving 100 Km is a pain in *** and on wrists as well.Softer handle grip helps little but i dnt find these extreme to be as smooth as its predators. dont know why
Some bikes had valves leaking problem. My mechanic has opened some extreme at only 5000 km, warranty be damned because those idiots will never agree. These have valve problems from company so there is no specified kilometers for the problem to occur.
But first check for shorted spark plug. A shorted plug will cause the same problem of start error.And regarding friends most do not know anything and still give advise to others. If old bikes give problem then my joy has run for 3.1 lacs and 12 years old but till date i have never touched the choke nor has taken more than a single kick to start. But when my joy was leaking compression then there was mileage problem and starting problem.
Change the cone-set and go for SKF. These OE cone set are hopeless.
I have posted in this thread. Its not because of carbon deposits but because of valve not seating properly on the valve seats in head as a result it is not maintaining a air tight seal. Your plug was wet because due to repeated cranking your engine was flooded with Petrol. Most probably your plug would have sorted. The cone set is tightened in such a way that the handle is free to rotate but there is no vertical play in handle. Some bikes cone set get loosened at first service because the factory grease would have set and thus there would be play. The problem is that do not let the SVC mechanic to touch anything and just let them service to maintain the records.
The bike is good but the SVC mechanic just destroys it.
In service i just tell them to wash the bike,adjust the chain and not lubricate it as i use gear oil and those idiots use burnt engine oil,change engine oil(to maintain records) and clean air filter. Else this any thing else i do not let them touch the bikes. Any other problem i repair it or just ask my mechanic to do so. @ Sibun/Satson/Pinaki sir/EKM_biker : dont u guys feel that in our xtreme 2011 model,diffenece between 1st and 2nd gear is more. Say when i am climbing in 1st gear and my rpm crosses 5K so i change gear to 2nd quickly but then i m not able to pick it up nad again i have to shift to 1st gear. i feel 2nd gear is closer to 3rd gear and it should be closer to 1st to help in climbing. can i change my front sprocket with any other one so that it can help me in steep roads and also have smaller 5th gear for stress free high speed driving...
I hope u guys getting what i m trying 2 say....

Might be that you had touched 90kmph for 1-2 secs and got back to the average speeds of 45-55 kmph. It is possible then, otherwise not. I have done some short rides on my Hunk (700kms once and 300kms ) at speeds continuously over 80kmph (I averaged 85kmph

My rear tyre SIRAC the center part has become bald in just 18K kms ...i am going to change it tomorrow ...called this dealer in chennai he is quoting :
Rear SIRAC : Rs 2100
Front SIRAC : RS 1800
can i go for this combo ?
My front MRF FS looks like brand new tyre even after 45K+
.
I think earlier Xbhp guru told me to try valvoline 20w 40 so thats what i dumped inside the engine today .
My bike is drinking oil it seems after 1000Kms when i drained it today and measured it it showed only 780ML ....the mechanic is saying my bore is gone
I am getting 42KM/l riding mostly at 70-80Km/hr ...also my kicker compression has not returned to normal even after all this time...even now a baby can start it....last week even with this much compression loss i was able to overtake a pulsar 150 at triple digit speed....it was hauling a combined weight of 150Kgs at that time

Been away for a while from here. (was busy with college stuff)
Bike now done 14.5K on the odo. Running on Yamalube 20W40. And I can say, its not that great an oil. :-|
Changed the spark plug a few days back - not much difference.
Will change the air filter soon.
Now, the problems part
1. Getting varied mileage figured each time.
ie, it shows 50kmpl this time, next time it is 40, next time its 35, next time it is 45.
And at the end, grand average will be 40kmpl, no matter what.
Why/how does this happen..?
2. Bike has lost its 'buttery' feel. I dont know how you will get it, but I mean the trade mark buttery feel that all CBZs and Hunks and Unis have. Its more like a passion or splendor engine now a days. More of 'tap tap tap' like beats rather than that smooth buttery sound.
Lacking in torque also. Engine feels very much strained.
What could be the reason..?
PS :- Never been to SVC for the last 4K kms. Does oil changes, AF cleaning, chain lubing, tuning and other maintenance by myself.MOTORCYCLING IS AS MUCH ART AS IT IS SCIENCE

I have a 2008 model Hunk and not Xtreme...
I think 2nd gear will be far from 1st gear in most of the bikes, because bike should be able to pull the maximum in first gear, I've felt the same for Splendor also, but for Splendor this feeling is much more when compared to my Hunk.
And, why you specifically mentioned about 2011 Xtreme; AFAIK, there has not been any change in gear ratios of Xtreme from the inception.

Mine (Hunk) is also drinking oil, and I'm topping up every 500km or so. I don't feel much compression lose, and it returns around 40kmpl.
And as you said, it still pulls like anything, from a stop at signals, it reaches 80+kmph so fast, and I'm bit afraid to go further considering the condition of the engine
