Even I feel that the refinement is an issue with CBZ Xtreme(mine is a latest Oct 2011 version). I consulted my mechanic which he told that it is an issue with CBZ Xtreme. When I complained about the same to SVC guys each time during the free services, they would tighten the engine mounting bolts which did no good and the issue is still existing. They admitted that it is the characteristic of this bike and no other HH bikes have this vibration problem.

The harshness of CBZ Xtreme is such that the we feel like the engine is crying out of breath once we cross 60 KMPH in the top gear. The bike feels good below 50 KMPH - 55 KMPH but becomes harsh when crosses 60 KMPH. I really doubt how the same engine (slightly de-tuned) when put in Unicorn behave more refined and in a flawless manner. I would rate pulsars to be better than CBZ Xtreme in this aspect.

Now I have crossed 12K KMS, I stopped complaining SVC guys about the engine harshness and I am trying to get myselves used to those vibrations which I find very hard even now.

My normal cruising speed is between 60 - 75 KMPH, which is Xtreme's peak vibrating range and is irritating me each time I ride this bike. I used to love the breezy ride in my previous bike R15 in 6th gear in that speed range which I had for 3.5 years and crossed 50K Kms on the odo. I had never felt any such vibrations in R15. But lately R15 started giving electrical problems which could not be resolved by Yamaha SVC's even after shelling around 15K........this made me to sell off that bike (in an angry mood against Yamaha ) and I decided to not to buy Yamaha again (which I am regretting now that I should have waited a lil more to solve that problem )and came to HH-CBZ which I thought would be a good option with less maintenance. But I agree that the maintenance is a lot cheaper when compared to my previous bike which is the only reason I am consoling my selves.

After shelling 74 K for this bike, it is a bad idea to sell this bike now and I have decided to get used to the engine harshness till at least for two years after which I would look for a better option.

And to all guys who are planning to buy this bike, try to take the test ride which I was refused by the SVC when I bought last year (HH Nagappa Auto , Chennai). I think they are giving test rides for all the bikes now and if they don't give, tell them that u won't buy. After all its our hard earned money and don't get fooled by the brand name. Test ride at all the speed ranges and check whether it suits your riding style and if it suits you can very well buy. The mileage is between 38 - 45 KMPL depending upon your riding style.

Hope it throws some light on the negative side of this bike. For those whom the vibrations do not matter much I think this is a good VFM bike.
Every problem has a solution. In your case get hold of a good mechanic and try to troubleshoot the problem. Without finding the problem you cannot say a bike is bad or what.

Didnt expect this from a HH bike.
If your tank has water then find the reason for water entry. Simply saying i didn't expect this from hero honda is not a solution. In every bike water enters the tank.

Thats what I am telling others to put a cover on the tank. I did so and now the problem has solved.

      • I observed some changes in the CBZ Xtreme riding quality after first service.

        1) The front handle has lost some cushion and can feel bad hit to the handle directly whenever I cross the hump or pothole. Something hard is hitting under the headlight or something directly to the under handle. Not sure why this has happened.
(For ex: at around 20-30kmph, if I approach a hump or pothole I apply both front and rear brakes. rear brakes are good and stiff. But, on front brakes; the suspension/fork vibrates a little before it comes to halt)
        2) Rear disk brakes still make noise during normal braking
        3) Oil has been replaced with std HH 10W30 oil
        4) Handle Resonance (mild vibration) after 50kmph. Have never crossed 4K rpm till now.

I am really worried on point 1 since I can feel the difference one front suspension which was so smooth before first service.
Took to SVC guy near my house. (Sai Motors, BSK, Bangalore).
He agreed on mild vibration and rear disc brake noise. For handle issues, SVC guy was saying they purposefully allow a play for front suspension/handle. Not sure how logical it is.

        Please advice.

Dude are u sure that you've checked your mileage properly at speeds of 90kmph?? I am dead sure that 50kmpl at those speeds is impossible. Really!

Might be that you had touched 90kmph for 1-2 secs and got back to the average speeds of 45-55 kmph. It is possible then, otherwise not. I have done some short rides on my Hunk (700kms once and 300kms ) at speeds continuously over 80kmph (I averaged 85kmph) and the mileage was abysmal. Got around ~35 max.

I cant believe on the speed of 50-90, you getting 45-50kmpl...
I also wish the same from my hunk...

The highest i got after 1st service is 61.3 kmpl on 90% highway and 45-55 kmph.
            That can be believable...

Do you mind me contributing to this thread. If you remember then i am the same who contribute technical knowledge in splendor thread. I also own a extreme and i will post technical know how, alternate and better parts and how to get good mileage.
Regarding mileage i get a mileage of 55-58 kpl in city on my extreme and 62-65 kpl in highway. I usually ride in 5500-6000 rpm on my extreme which translates to 75-80 kph on highways. My work place is 80 km and i ride up and down a total of 160 km a day. I alternate between my joy and extreme each other day. The fact is i accelerate gradually and then brake gently on highways. So the mileage is high. Since the maximum torque is at 6500 rpm the mileage will also be high at that rpm.
At the end anybody having any problem then please post here i will give all the knowledge that is required and do not worry slowly i will turn this into technical thread like splendor.

But don't remember the model, either it was Hero genuine / Rolon.
If the sprocket last less then check whether you are using hero chain or DIAMOND/ROLON.
If in spite of DIAMOND/ROLON the sprocket last less, check whether the rear sprocket bearing is good and also the rear shock absorber are ok. If the rear shock absorber are weak then your sprocket will not last. This is applicable to all bikes.

Are you sure abt the milage b/w 75~80?
                    For me
                    I used to go 50~55, milage 50+
                    45~50 then maileage ~55
once I got ~60 while on speed 45~50

But once I rode 40kms on high way @ 75~80kmph my mileage dropped to ~28

Yes i am sure because every other day i take the extreme to work and this requires 60 km of highway.
My joy also i use at 70-80 kph and it returns 72 kpl.
The fact is that the air screw setting has to be correct. Neither a rich mixture will give more power nor a lean mix will give more mileage. When the air screw is set correct then only your bike will give power and mileage.
My mechanic admits that 99% of mechanic do not know how to tune bikes. Either my mechanic or i tune my all bikes. I never let any one touch the carburettor.
My mechanic tunes the carburettor so good that it gives more mileage than factory tune and also the bike revs more freely than factory tuned bikes.
Some batches of extreme and hunk had valve problems. So they returned bad mileages. My mechanic opens the head and DE- carbonizes it and also polishes the valves. The mileage increases as compression was leaking through valves. Those bike that had leaking valves had very bad mileage.
Another one advice is never use 20W 40 in extreme. When i used 20W 40 in my extreme immediately my mileage decreased to 40-45 and after 300 km when doubting oil i changed to 10W 30 mileage again increased to 55-60 kpl.
SO all extreme/ hunk owners just use good quality 10w 30 oil or 10W 40 oil.
                      You mileage will increase.

Sir, due to contribution from the likes of you, Pinaki da, Shoeb and a host of others have truly made the forums information-rich. You guys have such detailed knowledge on seemingly everything from 'commuter' bikes (hands down majority in our country) and hence the people I look forward to.
Ask Pinaki da - I PM and trouble him a lot!

Regarding mileage, I'm an unfortunate soul coz i have to ride mostly in the city (Kolkata) - superbly crammed with vehicles - least regard for lane driving/riding - insane jaywalkers and last but the biggest headache of all - traffic lights strewn over the city. No matter, wherever you go, you're bound to get a traffic signal every 500 metres in kolkata! In denser areas, the distance happily drops down to every 200 metres or even lesser! #RipleysBelieveItOrNot!!

                        • I opened my Chain covers today and was taken in for a shock!!! The inner part of the front sprocket (like a small gear) and the rear sprocket are heavily rusted!!! Not so much for the rear sprocket but still! It is only 5.5 months, 2700 kms on the odo, not so much rain riding and this is what I find? I am genuinely shocked!
I am planning to get both of them replaced in my next Free Service (3rd) under warranty. Any riders/inputs about doing so?

                          • Hi guys, sorry i was away for a while. Kinda busy in my boring life . My odo is @ 11000 + right now. more than a Year. Recently i m facing few issues which i will let you guys know and hopefully get a solution for :
1)Chain slackness : my chain gets slack every now nd then, like in a week or so.Mechanic says its life is over and i should change it within next 1-2K . He rotated the rear wheel and there was slight up nd down motion of chain if looked at a particular point. he said its the symbol of worn chain set. Is ther any other way to check if its so. and how does my chain get loose so quickly.

2)Engine Over : yester day and today morning itself i facedengine OVER. Bike stopped as if fuel is finished. didnt started aafter that. tried push start but no success finally after 4-5 mins of effort it got start.frnd says its likely to be so in old bikes.but i havent faced it before yesterday.

Handlebar feels like a vibrator on a road with potholes. And most of our hill roads are like that only. driving 100 Km is a pain in *** and on wrists as well.Softer handle grip helps little but i dnt find these extreme to be as smooth as its predators. dont know why
