AFAIK, petrol when coming into contact with disk pads will deteriorate the pad material..
Some will even clean it with some oily stuff (personal experience ) well the obvious result is that your brakes wont work So do make sure that brakes are fine while taking the bike back.

they unplug a hose near the on/off/reserve valve and drain the petrol through it.

When i complained abt breaking he cleaned the disk with my petrol.

They use petrol to clean the carburetor, air filter(not the paper air filter that comes with Hunk/Xtreme, but the sponge type ones used in Splendor, Passion etc.) etc.

The mechanic mentioned by Abhishek would've used the petrol to clean the disc to remove the oil content/dirt on it which will reduce breaking effectiveness, because petrol/kerosene/diesel are good cleaning solvents.

Not sure if it'll deteriorate the brake pads, but if it is wiped off after cleaning then it shouldn't be a problem, also petrol will get evaporated immediately as we know.

Anyways cleaning definitely doesn't need 1.5L of petrol

      • Today's update.
Went to the SVC to renew my insurance. There, I asked the mech to clean the plug. He took the plug, put it in a testing device and fired, only to find that the plug is due for change. So I replaced it, and got the carb tuned up.

Tada.. mileage now - 46 kmpl..
Again, only half of the running was done with the new plug. So I guess next time it will be even better..

        • Guys, I was going through the HH Hunk Manual today, flipping through the pages and guess what??

The recommended air pressure in front and rear tyres (while cold) are as follows:

As per the manual: Front 25psi Rear - 29psi (single) and rear 33 (with pillion)
As per the information sticker on the chain cover: Front- 29psi, Rear-29psi(single) 33psi (pillion)

As you might have noticed, the front cold tyre pressures are different in the manual and what is given on the chain cover!
The dilemma - Which one is true!
As for me, I go for 27/28 psi (Somewhere in between 25-29psi)!!! :P

          Your inputs please?

The sound is from engine side, which is also there when i accelerate in center stand. so is that chain problem?

another is My current service center is not good, can i change the free service center. i asking cause i visit another SVC but they said that if you change the SVC it will affect your warranty

                  Can you double check please?
AFAIR, it is 25 for front and 33 for rear(both manual and chain cover sticker of my 2008 Hunk).
I believe, 29 would be too high for front.
For Splendor also the tyre pressure rating is 25-32.

                    • My Assumption:
                      1. Maybe these are the new tubeless tyres and hence the recommended pressure has gone up??
                      2. And hero motocorp has not updated the booklet??

If the real requirement is 25 and we are pumping in 29 psi, then it is quite high!

                      My Riding point of view:
Even if I pump in 29psi, I did not feel that the front wheel play was hard but 25psi surely 'felt' less (the cushioning effect was more).

                      Any inputs guys?

                      • Is tyre repairing so costly?

                        Hello,

Yesterday I felt my bike's(HUNK) front tyre air pressure is low ,so went to the nearby shop.they told me its puncture so while checking the tyre for puncture cause, I observed that at 4 places, the metal thread of the tyre poke inside and he suggest that need to apply patches there. Each patch cost Rs 300.I tried to bargain but no luck and the outer surface of the tyre is perfect, the grips are ok.

So are the patches so costly or they are just in looting spree.
Is there any negative impact on applying pathes?

The tyre was not flat completely when I went for repair,so how this happened.I am using the stock tyre that came with my HUNK.

I have completed 15k,so should I change both tyres?

I think 29 for front is an error on the sticker rather than on the booklet.
If this change is due to tubeless tyres, then why there is no change in rear tyre pressure.
I think you can try to contact HH through your service centres and confirm on this, coz contacting them through their website don't yield any result usually.

                            • I personally dont feel comfortable with air pressure less than 30 in front and 34 in rear. if its below this level, bike seams to be lagging,as if something is pulling it back !!

So most of the FM's here are running on 29 PSI in front!
I am always filling 25 for my front, is that a reason for my mileage of 35!

Old Hunk/Xtreme (tubed tyre version) owners, though light into this please...
