  • So most of the FM's here are running on 29 PSI in front!
I am always filling 25 for my front, is that a reason for my mileage of 35!

Old Hunk/Xtreme (tubed tyre version) owners, though light into this please...
25 is low for ur front tyre. tyre pressure does affect the riding / mileage.

      Hm..I think so..
last time I filled 25 front and 27 rear. Now when I lean, it gives a kinda sound as if the tyre is too low on air. The drag also has increased.
So it should be 29-30 front and 33-34 rear.

      • Hi guys!!
i m planning to get a complete cleaning/tuning of my ride outside SVC.Would love to do it myself but simply cant right now. My odo is 6300 Km, i'll give my rider for 4th service @ 6500 kms. Will see if i'm happy with the service. will get it checked/repaired by mechanic then if required. I doubt my Air=filter and carb (as there can be dirt due to a loose cap, which was loose nd slightly open for so long time ).
BTW engine sound is getting sweet. Hope it will improve with time

        • @ Sooraj : u would certainly feel the drag when ur pressure is low. and ur mileage would drop 4 sure.

            • @ All

              Guys..need ur inputs..
Is it a good idea to have a ff air filter for the exhaust note alone..? (green cotton or hp, not k&n)
The stock sound is just too soft for my taste, that I sometimes ride with the air intake pipe removed. I dont expect any performance/mileage gains, but will there be any negative impacts..?

                  • hello every 1...got a problm wid my byk...my byk (new cbz xtreme), after 3 months,, got a problem that it couldnt damp small patholes ..i complained about it and after lot of fone calls n visits ,got both my grs shockers replaced....and suprisingly the problem still persists......!!!!
when the speed is very slow jerks are not felt ....however if i drive at say 20-30 it makes me feel even the smallest of patholes...can easily feel them....the question is if its not the problem with GRS then wot exactly the problem is???
i m hell lot of tensed regarding this??
guys i need some real help and advice from u guys...what the problem can b?????

No friend ,I am sorry but I do not agree with ur above statement that tyre pressure doesnot affect ride and mileage.

If the tyre pressure is not proper there will be more area of contact between road and tyre surface, which will increase the friction and rolling resistance of tyre.more power will be utilized to pull and ur engine efficiency drops down.
Which will result is more fuel consumption.

Even if u drive bike with considerably low pressure for longer duration the life of tyre will reduced.

I checked again, my sticker and booklet both says 25-33(F-R). I don't think they have put this in error.
Also, can't think of raising the front pressure to 29, as even at 25 I feel the ride is not enough plush May be I need a fork oil change....

So I think we need to conclude that the new measures 29-33 is for tubeless ones?

U cant damp all the potholes at all the speeds. There r 2 settings for ur suspension :
1)Stiffer :for high speeds. less vibrations will be felt at higher speeds.BUT if u found a speedbraker u would feel k whole of ur tail goes up nd then down as if there is no shocks behind .

                            2) Softer :For slow speeds, roads of potholes and speed-breakers. Shockers would have max flexibility and less vibrations at low speeds (and on high speeds too ONLY if road is perfectly smooth ).

                            Shock Settings Road Speed Jerks
                            Soft Smooth Any disappear
                            Soft Bad Low Less
                            Soft Bad Higher High
                            Stiff Smooth Any disappear
                            Stiff Bad Low High
                            Stiff Bad Higher Less
P.S :LESS means comparatively less than other shock setting.Same for HIGH

So i guess u r having BAD ROADS and Softer shock settings. Adjust it to 1 step stiffer and feel the difference.
There is a tool in ur tool kit for adjusting rear shocks. u would have never used it ,or have u ??

my frnd also owns a new cbz.i rode his cbz also.on same road shocks are absorbed very nicely on his bike ...in both the bikes it is set to default factory setting...
in my previous shocker i used that tool many times n yes u r right whenever i adjusted to a stiffer setting , easily felt the difference ...but only for 2-3 days after that it again started behaving the same AS EARLIER
in this shocker also the day it was replaced it was working completely fine but again after 2-3 dayas its not absorbing the shocks as it should

Can you try to get a ride on another XTreme with GRS and check how does it feel?

Apart from the shock absorber, ride can be bumpy due to over-inflated tyre.

Swing arm bearings also play a role in this I believe, but there is hardly any chance for this as the bike is new.
