Mine (Hunk) is also drinking oil, and I'm topping up every 500km or so. I don't feel much compression lose, and it returns around 40kmpl.

And as you said, it still pulls like anything, from a stop at signals, it reaches 80+kmph so fast, and I'm bit afraid to go further considering the condition of the engine
yours too ?I know how that feels can you tell me the following :

    1) how many kms your bike has done til now ?

2)what engine oil you use and the grade 40 or 30 ?

    3) have you exp. tappet problem in your ride ?

4)what interval you change the engine oil ?

    5) valve reseat ?

I read sinbn's post today ...in it he mentions if you use thinner oil like 10W30 you will get more milage ....i am using 20W40 only may be i will get more than 42Kms/lt if i change to that thinner grade oil I will change to 10W 30 next time and check it .

Today got my bike new set of shoes -Michelin SIRAC street both front and rear....amazing grip with this kinda grip i am afraid its not gonna last more than 10K-15K.... but cost me Rs 3775 for both the wheels .

Also zapper Q 100/90-18 available in kanchipuram town for Rs 2370 and why is this MRF tyre costing more than michelin ? is it that good ?

    • Thanks Sibun/Satson. So, next time I will ask SVC to set it back to normal state with tightening the cone set and not to provide this vertical play.
Other thing is, now i have reached 1500kms and feel engine is rough. It may be due to engine oil. I had first service done at 500kms. Do i need to change the oil now or just top up?
The SVC guys just refused to put outside oil which is 20W40. They said warranty will be lost. Whats your suggestions? Should I get it changed from other mechanic?
Does 20W40 oil provide some smoothness in the ride?
Any solution for handle bar vibrations around 4000 rpm? Vibration is not too much, but feels like a resonance fork.

My rear tyre SIRAC the center part has become bald in just 18K kms ...i am going to change it tomorrow ...called this dealer in chennai he is quoting :

        Rear SIRAC : Rs 2100

        Front SIRAC : RS 1800

can i go for this combo ?

My front MRF FS looks like brand new tyre even after 45K+ .

I think earlier Xbhp guru told me to try valvoline 20w 40 so thats what i dumped inside the engine today .

My bike is drinking oil it seems after 1000Kms when i drained it today and measured it it showed only 780ML ....the mechanic is saying my bore is gone

I am getting 42KM/l riding mostly at 70-80Km/hr ...also my kicker compression has not returned to normal even after all this time...even now a baby can start it....last week even with this much compression loss i was able to overtake a pulsar 150 at triple digit speed....it was hauling a combined weight of 150Kgs at that time .
Your bikes oil ring have gone so it is consuming oil. Your bike is pulling like crazy because the compression rings are all right. There is no need to change bore kit. Just open the bore and piston. Clean the bore and piston with petrol or carburettor cleaner and remove all carbon on piston. Buy a new standard size ring and fit. Your oil consumption will stop.
This is the problem with all new generation bikes. In order to keep friction low and prevent from seizing during run-in companies give softer rings which loose their sealing ability after 30-40k. In my joy the company had recommended a run-in as:-
1st gear not more than 15 kph
2nd gear not more than 30 kph
3rd gear not more than 45 kph
4th gear not more than 60 kph
        This was for 1000 km.
But in my fathers splendor+(2010) and in my extreme(2011) nothing has been mentioned only it has been mentioned to avoid full throttle operation for first 500 km. This has been possible because of softer rings which are useless. In all my bikes i follow joy running-in method. I will post both the manuals running-in photo to show the difference.

Bike now done 14.5K on the odo. Running on Yamalube 20W40. And I can say, its not that great an oil. :-|
Changed the spark plug a few days back - not much difference.
Will change the air filter soon.

        Now, the problems part
        1. Getting varied mileage figured each time.
ie, it shows 50kmpl this time, next time it is 40, next time its 35, next time it is 45. And at the end, grand average will be 40kmpl, no matter what.
        Why/how does this happen..?

        2. Bike has lost its 'buttery' feel. I dont know how you will get it, but I mean the trade mark buttery feel that all CBZs and Hunks and Unis have. Its more like a passion or splendor engine now a days. More of 'tap tap tap' like beats rather than that smooth buttery sound.
Lacking in torque also. Engine feels very much strained.
        What could be the reason..?

PS :- Never been to SVC for the last 4K kms. Does oil changes, AF cleaning, chain lubing, tuning and other maintenance by myself.
If you have not change the air filter change it now. Also clean the carburettor and retune as i have posted. Check the tappets. Buy a feeler gauge set and use it. Also check whether valves are leaking.

Hero honda oil is useless after 1000 km. In new engines oil get damaged quickly. Also do not use 20W 40 oil. Instead go for good quality 10W 30 from veedol, motul or shell. Your engine will freely rev and become smooth after 5000 km. It is traditional that hero honda engines take longer for getting free.
Your vibration will decrease with time. Do not let svc touch carb.

          HH 10W30

No tappet problem till now for which Hunk's are infamous for

4)what interval you change the engine oil ?
Changed only once in my 4k journey and topping up nowadays as mentioned in my earlier post. Planning to change @ 2k once my oil burning issue is sorted out.

          5) valve reseat ?
No work done on valve yet

I was thinking of shifting to 20W40 later as I've read in many places in our forum that 20W40 is good for Xtreme/Karizma/Hunk etc. But reading Sibun's advice, bit confused now

First of all, I am the second owner to my Hunk and when I got it, it was around 20k and now24k. But not sure if it has done more than that. But seeing the front tyre, it shouldn't have done much more than that(or is it the second front tyre of my bike)

Hey dont keep on checking the mileage, it'll not return the same each time, especially if your ride contains mixed conditions. I had got fed up checking my Splendor's mileage each time during my college days, it used to jump between 55 to 60.
But I know if sowly it have become a habit for you(like what happened to me) you will surely reset the trip meter each time your bike hits reserve

And how do you clean your air filter, do you have a blower? Last time I simply took it out, tapped it and put it in as I didnt have blower/vaccum cleaner.

            • I think i got least mileage ever here..., I dont what happened, I filled of rs. 500 normal patrol (At that time petrol was at arounf 73/liter here in Delhi) so around 6.5 Liter total, Usually it runs almost 270-300KM in 6.5 liter, But this she given me the mileage of 31KMPL, Even I was not driven on red lines.

Generally I dont much care about mileage, But this time toh had ho gayi...., I think Petrol pump wale had done something...cant believe my hunk can do this to me...

Try to shift @ RPM of 4-6K.maintain proper tyre pressure in both tyres. Also check for loosening of CHAIN.Check and clean sparkplug.if everythng see,s proper try running little lean

I would strongly suggest you to dump that HH crap oil and get a motul mineral oil of the same grade or get the veedol/shell like sinbn said .Also change the oil every 2K(i do it every 1K) dont top up and ride it like you are doing it now .

Yes, even I used to change my Splendor's oil at 2k(which has run 1.1 lakh) and wanted to change oil in that interval for my Hunk as well, but the oil drinking habit stops me from doing a full oil change, as the new oil will be burned in no time

This issue is actually bringing shame to me, as the bike smokes like an M80 on coming to a stop at signals after riding for sometime. People are watching me like "Hey see the smoke from this Hunk man, his engine is in trouble", so suddenly I'd switch off the bike.

Changed the air filter today. Engine feels much relieved. Will do the carb tuning tomorrow.
I dont get any loose tappet sound as of now. Guess its fine.

HI Sarbanoxley, What's the top speed of your bike ? my bike clocked 1800 kms till now and I recently took my bike to top speed. My bike managed 101 km/hour speed only on full throttle. Is this normal or the top end will improve after 2nd / 3rd service ? or, is there something i need to be worried about ?
