Thought already you would've gone to Vellore...

So now you are going for Unicorn rings, instead of genuine ones from Hero?
Unicorn rings are better and compatible with Xtreme/hunks? Where are you planning to get this done?

need help regarding time periods/KM's after which certain parts needs to be CHECKED/CLEANED/REPLACED in our rides. It will be very helpful for all of us :
      1)Front Disc Pad/Oil
      2)Rear Disc/Drum Brakes
      3)Carb Cleaning
      4)Tappet/Timing Chain
      5)Spark Plug
      6)Air filter
      7)Carbon on cylinder head

aside my accelerator is not revving freely(spring action is not there).where and how can i adjust it?? i have even tried removing side weight bar.
AFAIK, there'll not be much carbon deposit on 4stroke bikes atleast before 25k. Also if the AFR mixture is right and there is no oil burning issue, it'll ride more than that before it needs de-carbonization.

My Splendor was decarbonized at around 30k when the bike started refusing to start due to loss of compression, but after that it was not decarbonized till 70k when the engine was overhauled.

Reg accelerator, do you feel the twist grip itself to be stuck? If not, the culprit might be the cable, it would've been got old and exposure to rain and all would've caused rust inside it. Normally Hero cables are of finest quality, but still there is a possibility for this.

      • Been a while since I've been here. Feels good to be back! Anyway, I actually have an issue in mind.

My Hunk has run 14,300km on the Odo. No major mechanical/electrical work has been done on the bike yet. But when I ride for a long time even gently ( On the lines of a few hours in traffic), I hear that the engine makes a strange ringing noise, not loud, but audible. Never adjusted valve clearances, tappets etc. Everything is just stock settings. Why is this?

        No way man.
        5K = 60 kmph.
Some others please share ur condition.
Possible, my bike does 49kmph at 4K RPM. This translates to around 12.25kmph per 1000 RPM. For 5K RPM = 61.25kmph

          • [QUOTE=sarbanoxley;855348]1) Front disk pad if not replaced in time can damage the plate so i change the pad every 8K just to be safe . I dont know how to take the pads and clean it myself so i just use water at high pressure to do the job .
Even i use to clean it that way.
Rear i try to remove and clean it every 3K .
My rear brake is almost dead,i cant stop my bike by applying only rear brake.dont know if its the case with all bikes,i dont think so.Told so many times to svc, they just tight the adj. screw thats it,i suspect there is something wrong from the inside,as its making screeching sound these days.

            2) Front disk oil is DOT3 i replace it every year dont count the kms - this time i am going to try DOT4 but dont know where to find one - motul has dot 4 brake fluid.

3)Air filter i just take it out myself and hit it hard on the floor repeatedly thats it - i saw this is what they do in SC they just tap it on the floor couple of times and put it back in .
Mine is 13K old and its looking so bad,i m sure its high time to change it.pickup seems affected due to this.

4)Tappets are tricky so dont touch it unless it needs the attention.
I thought it to be related with increased idle engine noise.

5)spark plug i never cleaned it but change it at 8-9K kms .
            8-9 k ? i m still running on stock one.

            Thanx mate!!

              1) S
trands of the accl. cable may get cut one by one near the grip and make a mess there so open , check( both ends) and change as is needed. If no problem , oil it.

              2) Piston Rings now a days are not very good Quality. They get fried and/or gets worn out soon ,So piston becomes loose inside the cylinder. This coupled with non seating of valves . Bearings also may be the reasons.
For the time being I am changing to Fully synthetic oil and shall report the results after my next trip this week.

For a better insight, do a self check on the following lines:

Phase 1: DURING ENGINE STARTUP - As you push the self-start button, during the engine crank (start) stage, is there any ringing sound?
Phase 2: DURING IDLING: check for the sound here also.
Phase 3: REVVING UP IN NEUTRAL (BEFORE RIDING) - any ringing sound, at ANY specific RPMs?
Phase 4: During riding sound is audible in which RPM?
                Phase 5: Finish the 'checkup'

If most of the above observations cannot find a ringing sound, then there might be some loose metal contact somewhere in your Hunk.
P.S. Sometimes a puny tingling/ringing sound can come from a heated exhaust too! It is due to a baffle/two which gets detached inside.

                • Guys I'm stuck with a very stupid problem. I cannot open (dismount) the upper part of my Hunk's chain cover. Tried before and after removal of the bottom part but the upper one simply won't come out. It gets stuck at the rear wheel and the left rear shock absorbers (at the sides) when trying to pull it out. Seems like removing the rear wheel is the only option for the dismounting of the upper part???
Hunk owners (preferably the new model owners) please try to do it at home and point out to me, where the hell am I going wrong. Yesterday I tried everything but couldn't take it out. It inhibits chain/sprocket cleaning and lubrication.

AFAIK rear wheel removal shouldnt have to do anything with chain cover removal. Check for any other Bolt/lock left to open.

                    • Self Start Malfunctioning

                      Hey fellow riders,

Well, it has happened twice now in the interval of 10 days. The bike starts normally but while riding the engine stops like there's no petrol. And again when i try to self-start, it is not successfull. i have to push my bike in gear and leave the clutch and start it again. and once it is started again the self-start problem is gone as if nothing had happened.

Anyone faced or facing the same problem> or anyone knows the solution.

                      Please Help.

                      Stay Safe. Ride Safe

                      Thanx

P.S: I have new CBZ Xtreme and its been only 7 months old.

It happened with me and also our fellow xBhpian EKM-Biker Sir. my frnd told me that this is due to excess fuel in engine (Bola ke engine OVER ho gya hai,and its normal in old bikes). am not convinced with him though. even if in push start it takes several attempts. isnt it...

I also thought that the chain covers can be opened and dismounted without wheel removal. I have done it in many bikes which have chain covers. But with this Hunk, it seems I'm trapped!!
Bro, it is not that I am not able to open the cover. I am but cannot 'dismount' it, i.e. it is stuck in the maze of the rear tyre, the left shock absorber, the saree guard and at the bottom - the swing-arm. Cannot seem to take it out of the zone. (Within that zone), I can just lift it or slide it sideways (just a little), but not take it out. There are just 2 10mm bolts on the cover to open. 2 on the upper and 2 on below. 4 bolts holding the entire chain cover assembly. No other bolts.

A bolt from the blue . It happened 4 times for me.Nearing 17 k on odo and 1 year old . Can not predict when it is going to happen . But after starting no problems for thousands of km.It happens when we least expect.Being an engineer applied all my logic but alas! I can not place it. Will wait and see .

All 4 times I opened the spark plug and saw the plug is wet with petrol. But it can be ,with out firing we have cranked many times.

Yeah. it the push and start method as well takes several attempts and it is seriously embarrassing pushing a new bike on the street and yeah i went to the service center. The mechanic could find no difficult in the bike. I wonder what your fren told u is true..
