It's definitely not the Exhaust sound, ie. If you are talking about the 'Tak-Tak' sound from the exhaust due to uneven expansion of the metals in the silencer, it's definitely not that. It's something else.

Yup, it just won't come off without getting rid of the rear wheel.
No, it is not the tak-tak noise I'm talking about. Had it been that, I wouldn't have mentioned 'baffles'. From the problem, the exhaust doesn't seem to be the culprit. About tappets and other 'inside' parts, I've not the least idea. The experienced others will be in a better position to identify the same.

And regarding the chain cover - it is actually stupid - if you come to think of it. Chain cover won't come off without removing the rear wheel!

2)even now I get around 60 kms/ltr.at about 55 to 65 km speed.and spark plug colour is optimal.
Air filter is also new run ~ 500 kms.

What I did for last three times to start is continuous cranking with full throttle till it starts.slowly it starts to fire and then every thing is O.K.

A small thought came to my mind just now .May -- may be the out put valve did not open at that moment. a rare chance is there no..?
Did you check if the spark was coming when you tried to start, after the bike stopped?
Being an experienced person I believe you would've done this check for sure, but still just pointing out.

Another possibility is loss of compression due to carbon deposits on valve or valve issue.

Manual tells 10k but do at least by 12k, a MUST.
Some brothers say, they hit and clean air filter which is not the right method .A study of this paper type filter will tell you they are many layers in compressed form. So the holes are not thro' and thro'. Air molecules have to go in a zig- zag path thro' the inter molecular spaces . So dirt particles get embedded in the interiors . By hitting only the outside few will fall off , but majority will stay inside and block the ways. So cleaning demands blowing of air from both sides with pressure . EVEN THIS IS NOT 100 % EFFICIENT THAT IS WHY CHANGE AT 10K IS RECOMMENDED. (UNLIKE OILED SPONGE.)part No. 17211KTN700s @Rs.115.90
Also paper filters should not be cleaned with water.

For Spark plugs . Prolonged use in very high temp. the ceramics used will develop electrical puncture. Hence short circuit or open circuit( in resistance type) can happen by arcing, which can not be seen by naked eyes. Shorted SP will spoil your cdi and /or coils
which will cost > Rs. 1500/- So better change at 10k for ~Rs. 100/-.

Ok try to add IFTEX system P or system 23 and run for some time. This has been quite beneficial to my bikes. IFTEX do a lot of difference and also increases smoothness. Visit their website to know more.

Unicorn rings are better and compatible with Xtreme/hunks? Where are you planning to get this done?

yeah bro some stuff came up so the delay .

the bloody robbers in SC are not willing to sell the rings separately...they want me to buy the whole bore kit for Rs 3100 .Heard both Uni and xtreme share the same engine - sinbun too confirmed this thats why getting the rings alone from honda showroom - honda guys are selling it for less thyan Rs 350 and they readily have it in sock too .

you know any good SC/mechanic in chennai who can change the rings properly ?

Actually I tried the garage where I cleaned and set the disc-set up last week, was part of checking how good he is...
But I suspect him seeing the bill he put for that service as I had mentioned here ! But seems he is somewhat experienced.

I think we can also check reg mechanics in Chennai with member PSR sir, he is much experienced and based in Chennai.
                  Probably PM him?

NGK, CHAMPION, MICO are available in India commonly. Select wisely what is available . To be on the safe side go by the manual.

                          • hi guys,

i bought my cbz xtreme single disc max brown metallic today...

overall pretty satisfied with my ride...
disc setup feels soft which i like coz you dont have to worry about skidding...

opposed to reveiws ,my bikes my gearshift feels slick even after riding yamaha..except finding neutral (but not too hard)..
one sore point is side panels having huge gaps & not fitting properly...horn feels fumble ..
                            clocked 80kms till now

have one question to all xtreme riders....the bike vibrates a bit on highway at 60kmph...will the vibration reduce after running in?
                            will post some pics tomorrow..

What do you mean by piston wear limit? Day one onwards piston rings wear off. Limit to it is the day your bike will not work/ start. If you mean when to change? then as Sibun has oft told here when your bike starts to give white smoke when you start the bike, it is time for a change. Any way you are opening it tomorrow. If feasible take some pic. and post with ur odo reading.will be a help to others.

After opening the head ,with your finger try to move the piston side ways. If there is much play you can confirm a change of rings.

The rings seal the piston and cylinder walls along with lube oil.Rings and cylinder walls wear off .Piston is changed only for next size,if you are refurbishing the cylinder in lathe. If you are advised to changing every thing. observe carefully the piston if not damaged much, ring change alone may fix. Be judicious

Dude just enjoy your ride. Stop worrying unnecessarily, thereby spoiling the fun and the experience to know your ride up, close and personal. Forget vibes, complete your running-in carefully and you'll have the ride of your life.
