It is the natural oxidizing of Aluminum...soon the entire bore will look like this and most of the paint will peel off...nothing to worry as this is common with most of Aluminum bores...
Only thing is if the bike was given with a bore without this, and came back with this paint peeling, you have to find out if the bore had been changed...because this oxidization takes time .

Air Filter life is dependent on the environment you drive in..The maximum life is 10,000 Kms under clean environment...dusty and polluted environment shortens the life span and it can be as low as 5,000 Kms....If you drive in crowded city with dense traffic then expect a life of 5 to 7.5 k Kms only...since the air filters don't cost much to change , keeping a less congested filter is good for engine.
The average life of Spark plug is 10,000 kms with good Petrol....do not tryto run the plugs beyond this as it will be worn, and may not be in good health.
Oil filters are to be changed along with oil for a healthy engine....it does a significant role of filtering the suspended particle in oil, and keeps the engine clean and in good condition.

does spray paint help in prevention of oxidation ? ( spray painting after the original paint peels of )

I have had some similar experience, in fact a bit too much to digest and am currently in midst of a 2nd war with HMC. Let's see. Will keep this thread updated. For teasers - this is what happened when I dropped off my Hunk for a few days at the SVC for a fault that they had committed and I had to pay for THEIR NEGLIGENCE. Have a look

I am also suspecting that your engine's bore was changed.
Was the bore gasket protruding like that before giving it to SVC? Does it have any identification marks which you can recognize ?

            • Finally got the bike back from service today. Thankfully, looks like they listened to me and got the Gasket changed and the oil leakage as stopped.
But, the tappets have still not been adjusted. There's still a nagging sound because of the wrong clearance. Will go back on Wednesday and ask them to do the same thing. Clutch cable also has not been lubricated.
Meanwhile, got Mobil1 10W40 Fully Synthetic oil and put it to the bike today. I'd rather wait for the tappets to be adjusted first than comment about the quality now. Cost me 800 rupees from an official distributor.

@View Profile: Imran Syed - xBhp.com : The Global Indian Biking Community: Nice meeting you today! Hope your bike issues got fixed.

EDIT: They also changed my Rotor Oil Filter. What is that?

              • Today changed my main stand as the old one broke - some other mech did the job this time and he removed the silencer and took the bike to this welding shop opp. to the showroom as the bolt had jammed they removed it that way only - total cost was Rs 615 .

Now after i come home the RPM meter is not steady it raises to 2K RPM after the engine gets warm - then i set it to 1.5K - after riding for 3-4kms it again raises to 2K .

The oil leakage too has worsened a bit - the front part just below the bore is now fully smeared in engine oil - the oil level has dropped from the full mark and showing only half - this oil has done close to 1800kms now.

Going to go to SC tomorrow first thing in the morning - dont know if this new mech messed with the carb or not - going to talk to the GM - will try to get this solved without writing a mail again .

The head mech who did my bore work got promoted so he told this other guy who long back couldnt even set my tappet right to do the stand work and he messed things up as expected.

EDIT : The honda 10W 30 oil doesnt like hot sunny days for some reason - though the engine felt smooth throughout my 1300 km trip but the heat was sometimes a little tough to bear on my right foot as i was wearing only slippers most of the time - had to stop after 40-50kms to let it cool a bit 3 times. overall got a mileage of 49Km/lt .

you can insist to get your bikes serviced right in front of your eyes if you go to a local mechanic.

I ve experienced ASCs keeping the bike all day and returning it at the end of the day by just washing it and handing over an empty bottle of engine oil saying its a "proof" of oil change.

I switched over to a local mechanic who does the job right in front of eyes. i never leave the bike with him unattended .
The problem is that if we give bike to local service we will not get engine warranty. mine is only covered 12k+ kms. now camshaft is complaint.

                      3) avg speed and milage

Did you put only 1L ? what oil were you using earlier ?

                          • Removed two links from the chain. The mech said removing links will take away the smooth ride feel (donno how) but I dint find anything other than a slightly tight gear shift (happens every time with chain tensioning)

Honda 10W30 now completed 1K and it feels like crap
                            Even at low temperature..

                              • Saurabh, I asked the mechanic about the engine harshness which u were telling me about. He told me that he tightened some nuts near the battery area and the harshness was due to the engine oil and he said it got rectified because of that.

From the past two days, I'm having a tick tick sound along with the engine noise. It increases with rev and when I press the clutch, it vanishes. Is this the tappet noise (i read online and the sound people explained as is similar to mine) or is there something else. I am also getting the smell of burnt fuel since this problem has occured.

There is no visible smoke from the exhaust pipe.

Ill have to get my bike back to service again and guys let me know the severity of the situation I'm in right now. The bike just feels too unhealthy to even ride...at each gear the bike rattles and repels on my revs. Its just hard to drag it above 50kmph as the engine screams and the handlebars vibrate hard.
