They had reported that although in twisties and turns fazer had marginally better handling than extreme, but when exiting turn or on normal roads extreme showed better performance with is quick power delivery.

I do not know why most do not recommend, its may be because most of them have never ridden them so couldn't recommend, some may not like the brand name, and some have never thought about it. But i do not know about other states, but here in bhubaneswar, extreme sells like crazy especially after the refresh edition came. Every other 150 cc bike you see and it will be an extreme.
Sibun - where did I start another; please do not jump the gun.
I think you are referring to my old post where I pointed out why XTreme/Hunk doesn't sell in high number.
But my above post didnt mean any sarcasm rather I was disappointed seeing the very bad response for Hero bikes in XBHP.
I am riding a Hunk, and impressed with many of its capabilities, I have been riding a Splendor for last 10 years.

I would like to point out Hunk/Xtreme's positives in What bike section and all, but what I see is no one is there to support me, when the suggestion priority comes they are on the bottom.

And that's what I meant in my original post above. Peace.

I got my bike serviced by a Mech who works on RD350s here. I had given my brother's bike to him earlier and he seemed satisfied with the work done. So I thought why not give him a try.

The Rubber Gasket has been changed and no sign of leakage yet. But he did tell me one thing though, one thing I was told back when I got the big bore fit.

There are 2 big bolts from the engine head cover, that latch onto the head I think. One of them freely turns regardless of how much pressure is given to the head of the bolt. I guess this means the threads are damaged. This must've been caused by the Service Center guys when they were asked to adjust the tappets, because when I had gone to Joel's workshop, I noticed the mechanics there having trouble opening one of the bolts. Those fools at the ASC must've overtightented the bolt. Later, when I adjusted the Tappets myself, I found the same bolt giving trouble. Now, this mech says he's adjusted it somehow, but if the engine head leaks oil further, he may have to re-thread the head or something, I'm not entirely sure. No issues till now, hope none crop up later.

I had also told him about the mileage bit, later, when he gave me the bike, he said he's adjusted the timing and cleaned and adjusted the carb. I'm not sure how the timing adjustment is possible. :P Experts, please do comment. But the bike feels different now, there used to be vibrations from the back, near the tail lamp cluster earlier. No such thing now. The bike feels a little more 'tight'. It is still free revving, but seems to be morose now, I don't know how to explain it exactly.

But, an engine oil change is still due and this time I'll get the oil filter cleaned too. It's never been cleaned in 21,000km of travel. But only glitch being, I'm not able to source Veedol Take Off Premium here. If someone could guide me about where I can get it in Bangalore, I'd be mighty pleased.

I'd also like you guys to list alternatives I can use in the event Veedol Take Off Premium is not available. By the way, only mineral oil until the new bore is completely bedded in.

Nearly completed 4k KM on the new big bore. Does the part where Hero bikes take 10k KM to open up apply to this new big bore too?

Otherwise, bike is perfect. Mileage needs to be calculated though. Although, it does seem to have improved from a very rough observation.

The Big Bore cost me 5.5k, including the gaskets and the piston rings and fitment. And no, no FFE. Don't plan on getting it either. More of a wolf in sheep's skin approach.

What is the size (in CC) of Joel's big bore for Hunk?

Right now, I'm waiting for Joel's cams. We already have bikes that are very eager at high RPMs, which Joel's cams, I can barely imagine how wonderful our bikes are going to get. I had got 43kmpl a few times. But things have been going downhill from then on. Clogged carb, dirty air filter, loose chain, lost idle screw spring, all contributed to getting it in the low 30s. But now that everything has been rectified, it has increased, but I haven't calculated it yet. I'm expecting much better FE. The bike's front sprocket has also been changed to Unicorn's, so the urgency that was initially there when I put on the big bore has reduced. This setup makes for more relaxed cruising, which was my ultimate goal.

165! Along with the Head Work, Joel said I could expect a 3bhp bump. Certainly feels like it's got a bump alright.

@riaz- good to see here after so many days. Do you have the extreme or sold it up. Nice video that you have posted.By the way you have not replied why you sold the R15 for another extreme. Also i would like to say do not ride so fast on that kind of roads. I ride fast only on one way highways(separate road for both ways), that too having barricades on both sides, and i never cross 80 kph if it doesn't have barricades.
Old habits pull me back to this thread .

Sorry I missed your question earlier.
I sold my first Xtreme after an accident, and went for R15 which was launched at that time. I was one of the first buyers of R15 in Hyderabad. R15 has been and is excellent bike. But due to my height and my not so good right elbow had problems while riding in city. And I had OCD for maintenance of my bikes which was very expensive.

Sold R15 mainly due to elbow issue. And was thinking of going for Karizma for its bigger engine or GS150R for its 6th gear and gem of an engine. But again Karizma had some spares problems so ruled it out, where as GS150R was all set to get it, but Bank guys rejected my loan application because I was working for Satyam (during the scandal). I simply got angry and agitated and went to HH showroom and straight away bought Xtreme. I was might happy with the bike and had no second thoughts of getting it, I bought the Xtreme second time only thinking that I will sell it off later and go for N250r which was about to launch. But some twists and turns I ended up buying a car with the amount saved for Ninja .

Now any how, My current Xtreme is also sold already and currently enjoying the waiting period of D390.

If he has fiddled with the timing(by advancing the cam) to get more mileage then there will be some serious damage to engine in the long run.
                    You can try gulf 10W30.

there, so it will most probably strip when tightening or opening the bolts.

                    8. Next what to do about stripped thread on one side of cam shaft holder which holds the bolt of head cover. There is three way- first is to insert a thin strip of metal
from PAN masala can and tighten the bolt done that on sis pleasure and still working and bolt became tight like factory, next is new cam holder or third is inserting
a metal bush and re-threading in lathe. We decided to try for adhesive and if it didn't work then mwtal strip.
                    9. Placed the head cover properly on head gasket and applied rubber adhesive on the threads of the bolt. Then inserted it in the side that has stripped threads and
tighten it so that it hold up. No pressure was applied on it. Next the other side bolt was tightened. Remember to tighten the stripped side bolt first and then the good bolt.
next everything was assembled reverse of dis-assembly.

No, no K&N for me. Barely any performance gains and I would have to upjet for it as well. Too much trouble for the kind of performance gain it would offer.

And no, no detailed experience yet. Heck, I haven't even done a top speed check after the Sprocket change and bore change. :P So once I get all that done, I'll be sure to put it up here.

I remember watching this video before I took the plunge for the Big Bore kit. 128kmph and still a few thousand revs to go. 130+ guaranteed. Astonishing performance from an engine widely considered 'commuterish'.

Yea according to him it was 131 Max, he has a quick throttle setup, RE500 Carb and FFE and racing coils imported from Indonesia and some other stuff, all in all he's spent about the cost of the bike itself to mod it.

Guys, I may get offended for this comment still,

For this kind of mods you are going to spend tons of money for unreliable BHP bumps. This horses you can't use practically because of stock frame set up.
Instead, you can sell your current bike and top up some cash and go for bike like D390 for your sheer power hungry. You will get reliable, powerful (43bhp)
and piece of mind bike. Otherwise you are going to spend lot of time in workshop for trouble shooting the big bore set up.

In this forum I have find so many bikes running with BB Kits. Interestingly none is trouble free though the owners putting their 100% effort.

If you still interested in this set up, you should strongly ask the components supplier to make the bike trouble free and supply all the supporting items instead of you run for each and every small parts.
