      Sibun,

Check the video in Unicorn thread. That is the honda stock bore kit. The clearance is surprising and look like standard size piston sliding inside 3 times re bored Cylinder.

I will comment in the evening as this will be quite a long post regarding my and my mechanic experience with Honda bikes. Especially new and old bikes. I will tell you the truth but i am afraid some will comment here negatively, but i will post the truth and the solutions for it.

Please feel free. Many don't recognize the hard truth until they get a first hand experience.

All Hero bikes have so less clearance from factory that it takes thousands of kilometers (and patience) for the engine to settle. My xtreme(not just mine, every hero bike) at 900kms feels so tight that while cruising it feels as if the engine is trying to oppose.(But engine is now much much better than what it was at 50kms) Unlike other bikes which feel free right from the showroom.

Tighter clearance is both boon and bane. Boon for those who have the patience to complete the run-in carefully and bane for those who rip their bikes right out of the showroom.

I don't know what kind of misconception is there among the people who think foreign companies are the best. Few days back, I went to get a new battery for other bike on my extreme and the battery walah(a very kind hearted fellow) told me why did you waste money on a Hero product. He told me that I should have purchased a Honda Unicorn or a used HH CBZ instead. I did not feel the need to argue with him as it would just have made the things go wrong.

My bike is making that squealing noise when I engage front brake. Will cleaning the pads solve this?
Also will be changing oil this sunday. Where can I find Veedol in Hyd, Shoeb bhai?

@Kolte666 Use pressurised water or air to clean between pad and disc without removing them . Solves sound issue . It is due to dust and minute grime that settles between pads and discs which hampers braking . Spraying pressurized jet of water between disc and pad will dislodge the dust particles and braking will be normal once again . If you are experiencing squealing every other day then remove the pads and clean them , But i say dont use sand paper to rub pads , dishwash/detergent solution will clean it enough. I was facing squeal problem in every 2-3 days so removed pads and cleaned them, no more squeak squeak now

Sorry guys for not posting for this long - i was not well all this time - as a result my friends and relatives used my ride for over a a month - when i i was finally well enough to ride my bike found out they have all managed to ride 4400 kms on veedol 10w 40 - was shocked they managed to ride this much over the limit (3k kms is the max i have set for this oil)- checked for white smoke - no smoke thankfully - oil level too was not changed much - but the pickup has come down a lot - immediately took it to SC they changed the oil (again veedol same grade) ,air filter, clutch cable, front fork seal and oil - now the bike performance is back .

                  @sibun,
My bike(UNI) is getting mild grinding noise(something like no lubrication between moving parts) while decelerating in 1,2,& 3rd gear.
If I engage clutch there is no noise.

What could be the problem? I have checked for chain slackness and lubrication, Clutch slippage etc, Still I cannot figure out anything.
Is there any problem with gear box after 1 lakh kms.

It is the GPT making noise. The small gear that is present behind centrifugal filter which transmits crankshaft rotation to clutch bell. That is worn slightly. Nothing to worry, as it will run another 20k before sound increases to changing it. Run it, no problem. And regarding your previous query on the piston and bore i will reply tomorrow after having a talk with my mechanic.

Instead the customer is forced to buy whole caliper set for a minor leak problem!! This is really pathetic
Finally I ordered following parts from HH SVC :
                      1. 06451-MA7-405- SEAL SET
                      2. 43107-MA7-006- PISTON
These 2 parts costed me Rs. 512.00 and it'll take 10-12 days to ship.
Finally I got a call from HH-SVC today morning mentioning that my ordered parts have been shipped to them. I visited the SVC in evening and collected the minor kit for rear disc brakes. I felt that that these parts are heavily over-priced since Piston costed 334.00 and seal set costed 178.00
Surprisingly, Old piston and seal set of rear caliper are working well after they have been reassembled, so I am planning to replace the minor kit only when the fluid leakage problem occurs again.

Price is reasonable considering that these parts make the caliper brand new.
It is very good to hear that hero is taking orders seriously and delivering them within the stipulated time. Earlier they used to give vague replies that the part is not sold separately and the entire assembly must be purchased and ....

Previously I had to purchase aftermarket spares because some rarely used parts were not available easily now it is not the case.

Veedol oils are available at a lubricant shop(Sorry -I am unable to recall the name. ) opposite to Ratiwal automobiles and next to a bearing shop(after Bombay automobiles if coming from Ramkote X roads) in Ramkote.

He stocks motul, veedol, shell,Mobil,ELF,hero, honda, castrol engine oils, greases, waxes, polishes, chain and carb cleaners. A must visit shop.

My xtreme has clocked 25K kms, and carb was last cleaned @ 15K.
Can you just elaborate how to disconnect the connector from TPS.

Thanks for the quick reply. With this condition I have already used for more than 15K. Now the noise more than earlier. Is only the small gear or the big gear behind the clutch hub(driven) also need to be changed? The clutch plates are already 50K old but no slippage. Can we use them or need to change them also?

Replace GPT as you have more than 15K. It can damage the clutch outer's gear ring in the long run. New GPT costs around Rs.550/-. Inspect the wood ruff key for play.
If you want, you can replace the clutch plates along with the GPT as clutch plates have to removed anyway to access the GPT. (I have seen clutch plates to show symptoms of slippage after 40K kms)

Please wait for sibun to give his opinion.
