I guess you are speaking about the sprocket/hub bushes and not the brake liner... the drum liner is nothing but the metal to the drum and for that you'd have to change the alloy or get new metal lathed on to it!

I want to throw the front disc out and install ones that are more powerfull
Here are the options i can think off
      Option A:
The front disc of RTR spec i found on their site:

      Option B:
Keep the front disc but install the RTR FI rear disc.

      Option C:
Buy the ZMA disc heard its around Rs7500.spec:

Which is the best option here or have i missed something.
Option A. The RTR's petal disc is one of the best available. And I was surprised to hear that the calipers & disc set costs less than Rs 2K. Pls contact R15Rocks for more details.. he was looking for the same for his Fiero F2. What more? it looks the best too!

That's not right. The reason rear wheels get a disc brakes is so that the brakes do not lock up the wheel. A drum locks up the wheel but a progressive disc does not do that so easily... and rear wheel discs are progressive and not locking.

Slides do happen how ever but remember that most people are of the habit of slamming the rear very hard and hardly use the front... well, in that case a fall is guaranteed what ever type of brakes you have.

I didn't know that..learning something new on this forum everyday . I always thought that discs have more stopping power and would lock the wheels faster than a drum bake. I think its a common misconception among laymen though because i'v heard the same view being expressed multiple times by people (mostly uncles talking about how young ones drive like hooligans these days and end up crashing).

Having a rear disc on the cbz-x sounds tempting but i'm sure the cost must be equally prohibitive.

a disc brake setup can be tuned to the requirement and that's the key here.

Better keep your fingers crossed and get things verified first. I've only hinted you about something I've heard and that is not a full detail!

            • btw is there any solution for the uncomfortable ride that pillion riders experience. I think it comes down to 2 problems:

              1) The rear suspension is hard.
              2) The seat is too thin.

I remember asking the service center guy why the seat can't have more stuffing he said it won't fit properly into its place. Now I normally ride alone but man when you have a girl behind the last thing you want is for it to be her first and last time getting on.

              • the HH's seats are pretty plush & comfy.

BTW, if your girl ever refuses to get on to ur bike because of the seat, pls send her to me for a ride... she won't even get down from your bike thereafter

Well, it's not me... it is the R15 that'd do the trick for you

                Comment

                • haha no chance i'l take her by public transport and while normally the HH seats are awesome they seemed to have skipped that for the CBZ-x atleast the end part for the pillion you can literally feel just a hard plastic board there.

R15 with pillion = same situation as fz16 with pillion?? i.e every pothole or badly made speed bump is a 100% scrape for the bottom. If thats true..no pillion for you

My pulsar 180 killed 2 dogs .my uni crash guard took care of the third one
Thats absolutely barbaric! Am at a loss of words to say anything else...

I have never been able to figure out why people are so scared of dogs chasing them! They mostly don't chase me... but when they do, I only do one of 3 things, depending on mood and time -
                    1. Keep riding as before... make no changes to speed or anything.
                    2. Slow down and koochie-koo them...
                    3. Stop completely and have a word with them. And trust me, dogs can be the best of listners!

Dogs are smart people. Its humans who are dumb...

                    • ^^u call me dumb thats ok .the uni incident happened right in front of a college my mom was the pillion i was doing 60+ the road was full of students from nowhere this black dog came in front of me i not even had a couple of seconds to think.
.But i could have braked and stopped right their. But have to guess what the bus DRIVER who was kissing my ass would have done.anyway it avoided the front wheel but the crash guard finished the dog with a big "thuk" sound.
I myself had 2 dogs one GOLDEN retriever(died of heart failure) another a doberman.
Note :I try to be as honest as possible.I could have easily avoided that part but when it comes to life i give importance to the human even if i had to run over a cat,horse,donkey,elephant,zebra....etc oh i forgot one the holy cow.If this is barbaric and i am dumb then i am proud to be one.

                      • ^^^That was a general statement... not specifically directed at you!

Well, to be honest, I'v had a similar experience. Few years ago, I was on my Shogun in one of the lanes... doing barely 30 - 40 kmph, when a cat tried to cross the road right in front of me, at what seemed to be warp speed! The problem is that while it was at it, it rammed into my bike... I guess with my front wheel. There was a significant impact. All this happened so increadibly fast that I'm not 100% sure what exactly happened! Now the best thing is the cat just got up and took off again at light speed! I actually got down and went till the compound wall (where it had jumped) to see if it was hurt. But it was nowhere to be seen. When I think of it, I'm so relieved to think that nothing happened to the cat... or at least I like to think so. Else that cat would have haunted me forever.

In contrast to that I'v hit a few humans... probably couple And somehow dont feel half as guilty about it. Heck... it wasn't even my fault!

That said, I'd never be able to think that a human is more important than a zebra or whatever. But then thats me...

Lucky cat.Even now i would advice u to run over them here are the reasons:
1)If braked u will surely save the cat, dog, zebra whatever.but what about
the guy behind you who is on a car, truck, bus or whatever he may or may not have seen the animal let alone see u brake suddenly.so until we all have eyes in the back its a BIG no no.

                            2) You own a XTREME and obviously you know a lot about bikes than me.
so when my baby needs some expert advise i need you alive.

                            • ^^^No ways! I'd always think about the zebra/cat/holy cow 1st. Even if I say otherwise here, I wont be able to do it when the actual situation arises. Mercyfully, it never has...

And don't worry... even if I end up sacrificing myself for some kitty/doggie, I'm not indispensable... I'm sure you will find others here to help you with your baby.
