Now who is that ! ! my bike has not gone to any mechs from past 1.5yr just go to them for dirty work thats it, rest all DIY i do tuning based on plug chops i buy some new plugs and start on. my current set up is 1.5 turns out which gives me 48kmpl in city.

To me if tuning the carb is not done without seeing the plug readings is taking chance for something bad.

I cant do anything if you hate them so much. Plug chop is not absolute necessity. Monitoring of the spark plug colour at weekly intervals will tell if the mixture is too rich or lean

      • Update ..Guys , 2 days after I made the fuel settings on rich side, yesterday i got some time to take the bike to highway. I added gulf 4t 10w 30 oil to top up. I found the bike pulled all its way up to 100 without any choking, sluggishness. Moreover for the first time i saw that it went up to 8500+ rpm when i had clocked some ~114km on speedo. I held that speed for approx 30 sec. The best part was there were minimal to no vibes during the ride. At some 90 speed the bike was running so smooth and stress free. But I could still hear the tappet sound all the way. After the drive the bike made tappet sound like a sewing machine

No... it was not because of the oil. I had it even during last long trip. The service guy had put lean fuel settings which screwed the the whole ride. The bike wouldnt go beyond ~85kmph and was vibrating badly. I just wanted to see if the condition would improve with rich fuel settings.

I checked after the trip the oil level became low though i put a full bottle of gulf pride 4t plus 10W 30 oil just before the trip. Hence i did a top up.

                  • guys i'd like to know if we can get the footrest thing (silver color thing) on the silencer in different color say black .. or any other sticker job or something to camouflage the scratches on it .. there are way too many scratches on it .. its taking away the whole look off the bike :|

a friend of mine suggested me to use a sticker on the scratched part . a black one (slightly tapered stickering job) or paint the scratched part with silver color

i'm sure most of us have this problem .. any solution to this ?? do we get a black color thing ?

                      how about paint???

                      Few changes on my Xtreme!!!

Changed the bulbs under the meter console for ordinary to white LEDs. The glow is not enough, but one more LED will solve that problem. But Need to make hole for that. So right now thats on hold. But its quite manageble right now. And white glow looks good.

Oil changed to Motul 5w40, I am yet to find any difference in refinement of the engine and smoothness, as I have realy driven it for long. But the gear shift has become lot slicker, but not great difference when compared to stock oil.

Front tire changed to Michelene M45, As Dunlop tire in front was defective. Nice tire with excellent grip and improved barking.

On my first free svc of my achiever, I came across a 'knowledgeable' engineer, he was explaining to the mechanic that there is "tappet noise" on his brand new Zma (2K kms done).....supervisor listened to noise carefully by hovering his ears in b/w tank and engine, he raised accelerator thrice and finally concluded it's noise (kind of buzzing) due to less petrol in the tank....half an hour later the guy came back with big smile and said "THANKS, there no noise now" !! Moral of the story is knowledge can sometimes be dangerous

If you hear feeble tappet noise, be happy that those things are doing their job !!
