      • Man! I have got fed up with this tappet noise Does the tappet get very loose on its own? If the bike comes in perfect settings from the factory then why does tappet get loose in any given way? Is it a natural limitation that we humans cant solve ? Is it a design error ? Is it due to low quality parts? Or May be our bikes cant handle the pressures inside an engine

From what i hear tappet will make noise if its too tight also.In my case it was loose. The mech says the tappet get tight as we drive and it needs to be loosened. Can you describe the noise? do not rip your ride till this tappet issue is solved thats the advice i hear often.

okies...taking your suggestoin . BTW..I guess10W40 has drain period of 6K kms right???

I will just check the color, if i dont like it. I will change the oil.

Adjusting tappets needs precision, So the correct tools. Try at another service center or catch hold of supervisor or service manager.

Looking at the color one cannot judge the state of the oil me thinks. Also the viscosity is very subjective matter i remember one mech said i need to drain the cp1r Immediately while the other said its OK.I think only an oil analysis will say for sure how long you can use a particular oil in your bike. When i drained the 5W 40 motul it has already crossed the 5000Kms mark yet the ride was smooth but google said to change it immediately.I got scared and changed the oil .

                • Guys today i went directly into the HH Aworkshop and asked the mechanic about the tappet noise. He told me that there is no solution to the problem just readjust the tappets and valve settings. I will be taking my bike tommorow to the station. He told that this would take about 1 hour. I asked him if the noise comes again then he said that everytime the noise comes in bring the bike to the station and he will fit it. The management of the showroom did not any interest when i asked about this problem some days ago! Any ways i checked the engine oil level today and found it to be nowhere near the lower mark I put 900 ml of oil 2 weeks ago. I cheked it twice just to verify but no change !

Bursting sound. And they are saying its a not an issue.
Why not PM some senior members here and ask for advice ASAP.
And do not rip your bike till a solution is found.

How many Kms has your bike clocked.

The oil level should be checked after the engine gets warm. And you should insert the dip stick and take it out without screwing the dipstick.Never drive the bike with insufficient oil you will destroy the engine in no time

To adjust the tappet he has to take the tank off and remove the head and I am sure the SC guys will spoil the thread....this happened to me and i do not want you to go through the same horrid exp..Once the tappet is set right their is no need to adjust it for some time. What the mech said to you looks like BS to me.The engine should be stone COLD when adjusting the tappet(this is important).

Even i am facing this tappet issue i pushed the bike all the way to SC and
had a small fight with them since they did not have the right tools. When they finally finished the job i took it for a 10Km ride and checked the RPM it was near 2000RPM so i reduced it to 1500.Seems like the same problem that got solved a short while ago is back. But the mech confirmed my fears the Castrol guys have set my Intake very loose while the exhaust was set tight(great job castrol). But the gala gala noise have reduced significantly but once i rip the bike it sounds like a TRACTOR.

No i checked after i warmed up the engine. But the oil was vey less how come may be becuse of riding at~80-90 kmph for long duration during my 450 km trip to vijayawada. My bike has 6.3K on odo changed the oil at 5.7~K 2 weeks ago. Oil was gulf pride 4t plus 10W 30.I guess if i had run on 20W 40 one then the oil would have not reduced .I faced similar problems with HH idemitsu oil. One long run at 80-90 speed and the oil levels drastiaclly fell.

The tappet problem started after my trip. Ripping is not required for my bikeAny long drive at speeds >=70 is sufficient to start the tappet noise. I have no choice but to give it to the HH guys!

usually this trend of oil disappearing is seen at rippings and using other grades other than specified. I am not sure it this true or not.

FUEL Screw??? You mean idling screw??

It must be below the carburettor, its on the kick rod side just below the black cover like thing. I suggest you not to touch it, it messes up tuning of the bike if done incorrectly, personal experience.

No fuel screw is different. It can regulate the fuel supply to the engine. By the way

250Kms above 80+touched 100+ a few times motul holds good no dip in oil level. But the tappet noise is very annoying .I set the tappet at 7000 again at 9000 again at 11000 again at 15000.I do not know how to deal this it spoils the whole biking exp..The SC is useless .
