As you said i have the 10W 30 oil and am going to use it in place of 20W 40 which i am using now. But i still have seroius doubts whether the oil will perform well when the bike is ridden at speeds above 80+ for prolonged periods. Some guy told me this oil will do well in city at speeds 70 or less and it will also give more mileage. i am leaving to my trip tommorow some 290 km from vizag and will return on monday. The road is NH 5.

I saw something written on the bottle that it is a new age bike oil. What does this new age mean? as if all the older bikes were from stone age!

I found mileage to be precisely at 51.25 kmpl (speed)...avg speed I guess should be about 30kmph.

      Some Downsides :
      1. I found trip meter spring is gone, luckily it works accurately and 000.0 can be set by rotating the knob (it doesn't go to 000.0 automatically by spring action)
      2. The idle speed is somewhat moody goes to 1600 in the morning, and 1400 in the afternoon but most of the times it remains at 1400. At 1600 engine 'sputters' but doesn't switch off.
      3. I was used used to Ambi's DC, at low rpm on Achiever , we can't see road properly, but I'm getting used.
      5. Rear brake is yet to come to life (going to do some hard brakings deliberately from hereafter)

Upsides : Awesome refinement, very smooth gear shifts, no vibes, Engine goes into sleeping mode at 45kmph 5th gear @ about 3300 rpm.(you can do meditation). Bike feels torquey, bike has segment best LET of Max.Torque@5000 rpm !! I'm loving my bike !!
One question purely out of curiosity...why did you buy the achiever when the Unicorn is every bit much better? Obviously that is my take on it...yours may differ. But, I just wanted to know why you chose the Achiever.

You are getting the same engine for very very lesser price.

@niranjan: As Ravi said I got it for less, lesser than Splendor !! 42.82K (OTR, B'lore), The bike is 2006 model, showroom/godown piece (no disc, noself,no alloys, no fairing). Apart from low cost deal, I like HH svc over HMSI, I have access to about dozen HH svc centres (~4 kms radius), where as I have two HMSI svc stations in my area and both are HOPELESS.

If anyone (in B'lore) interested in Showroom piece Achiever(with fairing, no alloys, no self, no disc) may contact Mellinium Motors, Domlur, they have one Achiever for 47K (nego I guess).

It should perform better, as I mentioned... though I admit I haven't been able to check the top end since I'v been using Gulf 10W30. Will do it sometime soon.

New age... well, all bikes in India are from the neanderthal age anyway.

Then Motul 300V is the oil for you.

My bike had starting problem the CBZ guys could not do a thing even after i took my bike to them 3 Times.Called their toll free number and booked a complaint. The next day the the floor manager called me and said he would do a full service again and said Motul 300V may be the cause of the problem and a short while later a castrol official called me and offered to change my Engine oil to castrol for free.I told him i was using Motul 300V for over 7000Kms with no problem and it was only after the second service the
problem started but the guy was more interested in draining The Motul from my bike he even said castrol was synthetic and was far superior to anything motul has to offer....well what can i say to him.

So had no choice but to take it to HHsc .The HH guys checked the spark plug gap and adjusted it .The jumping tacho needle was also set right ...The relay was gone they changed it cost me Rs 200.

They also inserted some kinda metal tube into the Silencer. the tube was connected to some kinda machine. After the test the Guy said the engine is very good. Then the supervisor took a test ride and the first question he asked was when did you change the oil? ....he was surprised how smooth the bike was.I said it was HH oil.

Cool, so your problem is solved? But what exactly did they do to the tacho? And what exactly did they insert into the exhaust??

I'm willing to wager that they didn't set the gap accurately. If they did, I'll have cardiac arrest or something...

I put the Gulf 4t plus 10W 30 today and went for a ride~7.5 km. now i understand now why the recommended grade makes so much importance.
There was much of difference in the engine. the pickup was back to its force and the bike was just sailing ! the gear shifts were much precise with the 20w 40 though

would the 20W 40 oil have caused any damage to the engine? >used it for some 300Km, 180km covered on highway ,rest in town

                      • ^^^ Can't say for sure unless somebody does a test! But then you have used it for a pretty short while, so you shouldn't worry too much... in fact its already done, so no point worrying.

Why not contact Motul distributor/dealer/salesman? You might even get it home delivered.

The guy opened the back seat and was fiddling with the wires for some time and just replaced the box like thing he said its called a RELAY.The indicator stopped working,no horn,Even the fuel indicator was not working.I had no choice so went to SC reluctantly.

Just after he changed the relay he fired up the bike everything was working normally. He said the roots horn was connected directly to battery and the wiring was not done correctly Told me to fix pulsar horns and remove the Roots.
He started the bike and let it idle and then he inserted the tube like thing connected to the machine by What looked like a plastic tube.He was always looking at the readings and was simultaneously doing something(setting the RPM).
Today morning when I first started the bike I put the choke on and kick started the bike. The bike fired up at once.... the RPM needle rose to 3000RPM stayed their for a few sec. rose again to 3500RPM then gradually returned to 2000RPM .Is this normal?

Do not worry nothing would have happened i have used 20W 40 for over 500Kms.After Xbhpian's scared me to change the oil ASAP i immediately switched to Elf 10W 30 and boy the bike was flying as you have correctly observed. With that said the pickup has increased after i changed to 300V surely. If you feel like you need a thicker oil you can try 10W 40 in this category Motul 300V will blow you away.

Yep i always do that. How to use the choke correctly.

I changed my rear brake shoe when i was @ the CBZ recently it cost me Rs134.I asked them why is it so cheap they said its the same supplier they buy it directly from them.HH puts it in a new cover and charges more.Any one know how much HH charges for the Xtreme's rear brake shoe?

The supervisor showed me the worn out shoe it was surprisingly looked good for another 1000Kms at least i said it looks good why change it.He said its preventive maintenance.

                              • My bike has started making strange noise lately. It is some reciprocating noise from engine head and becomes more evident after some 2~Kms of ride. It can be heard even at stand still as far as i know it should be tappet noise. This noise has started since my third service at 4.1K kms.I have observed it is absent after a fresh service but this noise usually triggers in after a drive with speeds =>70kmph and then remains until next service. My odo is reading ~6Kkms and the bike had 4th sevice at 5.5Kkms. It was absent after the 4th sevice too but it has again started as i did a 200km drive at 80-85kmph. The SVC guys seem to screw up things badly. More over this time i found my bike crying to go beyond 85kmph. It feels as if i am choking it to death!! I found a mechanic nearby and he said that he will fix the tappet noise. Can i let him to fix it???
