  • can i upgrade my bike's engine. say like replace the current engine with ZMA or pulsar 180 engine?
is it impossible? will it damage the safety of the rider n the bike?

(bike over 150cc not allowed here)

Sell your bike and buy a second hand karizma.
HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler
Honda Aviator || Kinetic Flyte || Kinetic Blaze || HH Splendor

Two ZMAs, 9 Days in Western Ghats

      • don't bother making major upgrades to the cbz-x like replacing the engine...it would be better for you to buy a karizma directly as stated above.....I use my Cbz-x sparingly and what I have noticed is the mileage has indeed gone down to somewhere around 37 (Either there is something wrong with the way I ride or my petrol is evaporating in the sun )..as for the oil i'm not expert but I think it would be best to stick to one particular type of oil rather than constantly trying other types (I assume your flushing the engine everytime you change your oil). The oil HH puts in their service center seems to be a thinner greenish liquid as compared to what I see local mechanics using. The man at the service center told me is some synthetic oil made specifically for the engine type and that other kinds of oil would spoil the engine.

Now I repeat before someone disagrees with me...This is the first bike I have owned and even I tend to agree with the service center regarding the oil (or maybe its a psycological thing ). I don't know about other service centers but the one I goto (Creative Motors, Andheri - East) seem to do a good job..they check my previous service sheets and check the bike and recommend things only when needed. All in all I have been happy buying the Cbz-x (even though my dad insisted I should buy a Karizma) and its given me the perfect balance between power and mileage. Plus atleast in my suburbs I can't think of speeds about 80 so it wouldn't make a difference even if I owned an MT01 (apart from the looks ofcourse )

        • ^^^37 kmpl, and you still say you are happy with your experience with the CBZ-x??? If a Karizma gives that kinda efficiency, I guess it would be good... but not a CBZ!

My bike was giving an amazing 50+ fuel efficiency. But after the $%&@! mechs as the service centre messed with the bike at the 1st service, it barely gives 40+ efficiency now!

Wont comment about the oil thingy as its been discussed too many times before. Suggest you read the oil thread.

          • I didn't expect anyone to comment even I have read the oil thread since its much discussed....anyways wondering if someone could help me out with this..my bike makes a squealing sound when I depress the rear brake and its most annoying. I first thought its the liner and I had it replaced but it went away just for a day. Have gone to the service center 2 times and they just reinstalled the liner but again after braking a few times the sound returns. Its like dragging nails on a blackboard . Any idea why this is happening?

Also due to an accident my handle bar got bent...would it be wise to replace it with an fz-16 handle bar or should I stick to the stock one?

And btw..the 37 kms per liter could very well be my riding style since its my first bike and I forgot to put oil for a few months

            • Sqeaking noise when brakes applied is a tough thing to get away with. Sometimes the drum lining too would have got eaten off and there can be uneven surface there.

Still not very sure why my Victor gives that sound (very little though) on a moist or rainy day when braked hard. I've got new brake shoe and have smoothed the drum to an extent using sandpaper!

              • *sigh* there goes the hope of a miracle reply telling me I can fix it by just kicking it a few times oh well will get the drum checked out in the next service..if it was a minor sound I would have let it be...but it makes heads turn and that is not how I envisioned my bike grabbing attention

                • ^^^ there might be a solution to the squeaking breaks... just await some expert reply!

                    • After changing to fully synth oil today redlined my xtreme 6 times @ 9500RPM.top speed according to speedo 123km/hr.I can take her to110km/hr very easily now.120 comes up a few seconds later. The acceleration from 5K-8k RPM one word-moohhaa.yesterday i took her to 110km/hr(9500RPM) after which she started to cough like out of air or something .wont go above 110km/hr .didnt push her much took her home. but today is a new day no coughing even @ 120km/hr.I kept that speed for over 6kms.The only thing i did was top up the oil(BOUGHT a new can for 750bucks from castrol bike zone).

Does oil perform better after they r hot??.cause i find the acceleration improve after the engine gets hot.

                      • are you serious? changing the oil increases the speed by that much? The maximum i'v managed on my bike is 8500 rpm and 110 speedo indicated and the bike feels like its gliding at that point of time I get too scared to brake or even turn

                        What oil is this

                        • ^^me too achieved only 8500RPM on mineral oil.But heard synthetic stuffs are great for their protection properties. As i usually cruise @high speed thought it was money well spent.never cared or knew i would be seeing performance. When i saw the RPM meter even i was in DISBELIEF i kept those speeds for more than 6kms so i stared @ the console quite a lot to confirm that it was 9500RPM(110km/hr).Today no coughing even @ 123km/hr couldnt take my eyes off the road much but it was always above 9000RPM may be it reached 10000RPM i honestly dont know(lot of traffic).

Yes. Oil thins out at higher temp and offers less resistance. There might be other factors involved too. In any case P1R is thicker than the recommended 10w30... so it might be making a bigger difference. Actually, you should NOT push the bike too hard until it reaches operating temperature... or AT LEAST warms up a bit!
