Depends on factors like your velocity, size of dog, angle you hit a etc...when a dog hit my guard at 70 all I felt was a *thunk* noise and the dog yelping to high heaven. The bike didn't swerve or slowdown in anyway till I released the throttle and slammed the brakes..The trick is not to panic. Unfortunately I have not mastered this trick and I slam the brakes anyways which leads to me skidding and falling.

@Adises: Please get a seat cover with additional foam padding on the inside. Ensure that it is securely fixed to the seat (he will put in nails mostly). That should ensure your girl has a better ride&stop complaining about the thin seat!
@Sarban: You're right-no point in braking for dogs. In fact, they get confused if you brake. Having an extremely flexible spine helps them avoid you by going backwards if you continue at the same speed.
@Raccoon: I don't do the same with cows/buffaloes-they're way stronger than bikes!
@HydBiker: R15 didn't do the trick for my girl atleast-remember I brought her on my Fiero F2 last time!
P.S. What are you doing here?

Now coming to the important question&the reason for my being in this thread. My friend has a 2 year old Xtreme, which has always been serviced at Hero Honda. He has a major problem now-they say valves are leaking. He is under a fight with them to claim warranty. Has anyone experienced a similar problem or having knowledge of the same? If yes, please educate me on this.
Also, his speedometer has not been working since more than a year now. After analysis, it turned out that the meter is fine, but the gear assembly (which joins the speedo cable to the front wheel) was damaged after a small fall. He has ordered for that part time&again but no dealer/spare part shop in Hyderabad could get it. Finally, we went to the stockist for A.P., but he has also not got the part yet.
So, can anyone find out about that part&send it across by courier to him as it is not available in A.P.&doesn't look like any chances in the near future too!

.Its like a bulldozer on 2 wheels guaranteed KILL.Guys who own the old heavy model would know what i am talking about.Once u run over them u will feel confident the next time.To the inexperienced its like running over a pillow
mechanics here use old engine oils to lube the chain. so can i use CASTROL POWER 1 RACING to lube my chain
.Will it be effective

tell them the CBZ Xtreme's speedo gear that is fixed on the front wheel. Else show them the one on ur bike... the small unit from where the speedo cable comes out from left side of the wheel.Originally posted by sarbanoxley View Post@R15 if you can tell the exact name of the part(HH spares guys should understand this) which u need. i will try to find it here who knows i may find it.
Any oil on the chain will drip out in a day or max 2! if you want something better then apply bearing grease once the oil drops out.The one for ZMA/CBZ costs Rs 350. Guess this one too should cost in the same range.

Thanks Sarban, I will try to get the part number here&ask my friend to shoot mails to Hero Honda too...its really something, lack of spares for a part which will be necessary for Xtreme/Hunk/Ambition!b You can also check there in the meanwhile by showing your bike to them as HydBiker said.Originally posted by sarbanoxley View Post@R15 if you can tell the exact name of the part(HH spares guys should understand this) which u need. i will try to find it here who knows i may find it.

As for the dog thing, you seem to be getting a sadistic pleasure out of it. I get the same feeling towards cats too. Managed to break a paw once, but they say they have 9 lives!

^^^You guys seem to be superb sadists!
And c'mon guys... I just dont understand how you find dogs in your way. Its soooooooooo easy to make out where the doggie is gonna go! I'v never managed to even touch a doggie with either my bike or car in all my driving history.
And seriously, hitting a dog when on a bike definitely can pose a risk! I'v seen couple of very bad accidents relating to this.
One was one one of the roads that led to my college. One college-mate was travelling that road late night when dogs started chasing him. As most moronic humans do, he sped up, one got in his way and he kissed the road in a flash. He got multiple fractures and spent ages in the hospital... missed a year too. I used to do the same road, with the same dogs and everything else... and never once had an issue with them (I just did one of the 3 things I mentioned above).

Killing a street dog is no big deal, no one will ask you to pay for it.Originally posted by Raccoon View Post^^^You guys seem to be superb sadists!

I've seen some people shelling out thousands for a mere chicken what we would eat for 50 bucks!
But yes, it could be dangerous as it can definitely make you fall off&suffer! Whats worse is if it bites you when you fall down!
It happened to one of my friends. I've always dodged them myself for the same reasons. But yes, if a dog chases you, it is best to stop&shoo them off. When I was in Bangalore last year we used to face the same problem with a lane full of dogs at night. They only chase, but won't bite unless provoked.
P.S. I think we're going OT guys. Lets put a stop to talking about dogs&talk about bikes!

In many situations, dogs are really dangerous to the bikers. There are many in my circle who met accidents because of dogs. Even one of my colleagues stopped riding for the fear of dogs (ask me if you want why).
I also had many scary situation where I successfully managed to control my bike, but they are really close. Most of the time, they ran all of a sudden across the street, where you cannot do anything, but praying your lucky stars. Today, I had a similar incident.
When the dogs chase me what I do is I will straight ride on to the dog and they get scared and run away.

^^you do that mate
.
Today went to TVS showroom to get the price of the APACHE disc set.
Decided to take a test ride.took Rs 50 and gave it to the service guy and told him to bring a brand new bike for the ride.To my surprise he obliged and brought me a BRAND new RTR
.I took it for 30+KM test ride totally ripped the bike All i can say is WOW.It easily goes upto 8000kRPM on the top gear
after that it crawls. The second time i took it to 9000RPM @ 4th gear. Then changed to the top it Touched 8500RPM easily.SPEED it achieved i dont no
only the RPM worked(being a brand new bike).coming to the brakes i was blown away by it

.They also had a refresh version with rear disc brakes

.
The most ASTONISHING finding was not the performance, not even the brakes believe me or not it was the comfort.
Its way more comfortable THAN MY CBZ small bumps are absorbed so easily
.I hear people say back pain what back pain
.I regret not Taking a test ride before buying the xtreme i just looked @ the sitting position and arbitrarily decided it was bad for the back
.About vibrations i found it to be on par with my xtreme
.point is its an engineering marvel with a price tag of Rs 65000
.I salute TVS for making this jewel
.
bTW the front disc +calliper costs RS4000.The rim itself costs another Rs4000.The tvs guy said something about the bore needed to be changed
which accoring to him costs another Rs 2000
