Today went to TVS showroom to get the price of the APACHE disc set.
Decided to take a test ride.took Rs 50 and gave it to the service guy and told him to bring a brand new bike for the ride.To my surprise he obliged and brought me a BRAND new RTR .I took it for 30+KM test ride totally ripped the bike All i can say is WOW.It easily goes upto 8000kRPM on the top gear
after that it crawls. The second time i took it to 9000RPM @ 4th gear. Then changed to the top it Touched 8500RPM easily.SPEED it achieved i dont no
only the RPM worked(being a brand new bike).coming to the brakes i was blown away by it.They also had a refresh version with rear disc brakes.

The most ASTONISHING finding was not the performance, not even the brakes believe me or not it was the comfort.
Its way more comfortable THAN MY CBZ small bumps are absorbed so easily.I hear people say back pain what back pain.I regret not Taking a test ride before buying the xtreme i just looked @ the sitting position and arbitrarily decided it was bad for the back.About vibrations i found it to be on par with my xtreme.point is its an engineering marvel with a price tag of Rs 65000.I salute TVS for making this jewel .

bTW the front disc +calliper costs RS4000.The rim itself costs another Rs4000.The tvs guy said something about the bore needed to be changed
which accoring to him costs another Rs 2000.
I had told you about the changing cost via PM. It will definitely cost more than 5K as expected. Are they confident about it working as well on an Xtreme as an RTR?
Secondly, Apache is quite sporty&race derived. I still feel that the Xtreme is better for your kind of highway usage, cruising along at 80. There is always the saying-If you can't get what you want, be happy with what you get!

    • Sarbanes-Oxley, ride RTR for long periods, then you will come to know how Xtreme is comfortable than RTR. You are the only one I am seeing comfortable with RTR than Xtreme.

Xtreme has less vibrations than RTR at lower speeds. Only at higher speeds both RTR and Xtreme vibrates. The braking of RTR may be better than Xtreme, but you have ridden a new RTR. New disc and pads will definitely have an advantage.

Yes, RTR is an amzing bike.

One thing I observed is, for your requirements a Karizma or a P220 is more suitable than an Xtreme. Xtreme will be a puny bike for your requirements.

After the RTR, try either Karizma or P220. You will be blown away.

And I still do not understand how the service guy accepted that 50 bucks and gave the new bike to you and allowed you to ride for 30 km ripping all the way. Poor soul who has bought that bike.

      • Yep even i was surprised.I took it to the redline from the word GO!
no vibrations yep if u notice intensely u could feel it.Their was no teeth shattering vibes that i was expecting even @ the 9ooo RPM.As all this happened on a national highway had a chance to race with pulsars and even a unicorn they were all blown to SMITHEREENS by the RTR.The service guy
who was with me was hanging on for his dear life.First he was grabbing the rails then he was grabbing my shoulder finally he started hugging me like a girl
        it was funny hahahaha.

I told them i had a back operation and i didnt like the xtreme.so have to test it for @ least 10kms.yep the 50 bucks helped he brought this spanking new bike from the 2nd floor.the guy who buys that piece just has to change the oil immediately motoman breakin done.

            • Really bad show by the dealer to give brand new bikes for test drives! And really sad that TVS lets it dealers do such things! When I went for my CBZ-x test drive (before buying), they gave me a test machine... (or whatever it was, it wasn't a brand new bike). And they had no Karizma for a test drive. Pleaded with them 3 - 4 times, but they did not oblige as they said they simply don't have a test machine. They did not offer the new Karizmas they had for a test drive (but I didnt for it either... I just wanted any Karizma for riding). But ya... I didn't offer any money.

Was the speedo/odometer disconnected on the new RTR, by any chance?

Strange... my CBZ does not vibrate per say, at higher/top speeds! But like I mentioned before, there is a problem band at around 65 - 75 kmph... when vibes set in. Is this a problem with all CBZ-xs?

Anyway, this was with the Idemitsu oil. With Gulf, its become still smoother in normal city driving... and that makes me want to rev it more. Waiting to check the top end on a highway.

Whats the top speed of a Karizma, btw?

                • @racoon After i put CP1R their r no vibes even @ 120km/hr.At that speed
i touched the lever with my index finger their was a mild very mild vibe.Thats how the RTR felt @ 9000RPM.Man that bike is fast i can do @ least 100kms non stop without bach pains and stuff i am pretty sure about this. The suspension is miles ahead of the XTREME.Well i am almost 6 ' tall around 200 pounds may be more i am feeling very comfy on the rtr.Just go to your nearest tvs showroom and rip a brand new RTR to the limit u would know.
I cannot even imagine how this beast would behave on synthetic oil.
I am blown away by this bike gonna sell my CBZ xtreme.I already got an offer for Rs50000 but gonna sell it @Rs55000.And book the RTR.My odo reading is 7770kms i have changed the oil @ least 10 times oh man.

Go back to the same showroom and ask for the same bike. It looks to be a good piece! Well, that does not hinder the fact that all RTR's do not vibrate like Satish's RTR

When I took my friends RTR for a test ride It was the vibrations which kept me off from as low as 5500 rpm, may be there was something wrong with his bike?? but other than that its an excellent bike with decent pick up & good handling and the seating position was something that was not adapted to my style of riding. the xtreme and the zma are the most comfortable imo. think about the zma if u r upgrading good amount of low end torque, trouble free and smooth engine like the xtreme but not not as flickable like the rtr or the xtreme only draw back is a slightly lower milage compared to the competition.I get around 36 on the zma and 40 on the xtreme with similar riding but vibes tend to oscilate around the xtreme around 65-75kph.

So the top speed of the RTR is about the same as the CBZ-X? Thats assuming that their speedos are accurate or the magnitude of the error is the same, of course.

But does it have the stability of the CBZ-x? I doubt it!

Anybody knows the top speed of the ZMA??

126 kmph true. On speedo it would be around 135 kmph. I touched 140 twice on my Zma (of course, in a bit downslope).

                                Define stability?

Do you men stability in a straight line or stability around a corner?

Do feel that the 'feel' of stability is derived out of the confidence a bike gives?

AFAIK, topspeed of the ZMA as per the manual is 125 Kmph (True)!
