      Hi Sibun,
Thanks for your suggestion. Can you please give me the part no. of minor kit for rear disc brakes of cbz xtreme. This will help me in finding the minor kit easily

@itsmevini- No need of changing the complete master cylinder. Change only the piston and the kit and brake will gain the furious bite. Usually in some bikes i have seen the particular problem and master cylinder piston change solves the issue. It is known as major kit and will be available at hero service center. The part number are:-1. 45503-KCC-841- PISTON 2. 45504-KCC-841- BOOT COMP3. 45506-KCC-841- SPRING4. 45525-KCC-841- PUSH ROD5.45526-KCC-841- SPRING , PUSH RODThese all are included in the kit or you can buy individually in this part number.Or if you want complete master cylinder the part number is 45510-KVN-901 M/C SUB ASSY, FR. BRK

@nishesh- Minor kit and major kit are different. Major kit is refereed to overhauling parts of master cylinder and consist of piston, springs, circlip and all and minor kit refers to the overhauling kit at the calliper end which consist of two pistons and four oil seals.4 43504-MB2-006 BOOT COMP.8 43520-MJ6-315 PISTON SET M/C 19 43530-MV9-006 PUSH ROD COMP.

        ENGINE OIL:-
From my experiences with various engine oils here are some observations:-
20W 40- Strict no as bike feels lethargic and mileage takes a hit and also the punch of extreme/hunk goes missing. Also bore and crank wear has been observed with this oil.

10W 40- From my experience with this oil is that bike feels free revving but as the engine heats up, that chracteristics is gone as the oil thickens at high temperature oil doesn't feel good and low end pull gets affected big time,

10W 30- The best oil for extreme as bike feels free reving, engine feels relaxed and also bike pulls revs like crazy, on national highways bike easily hits 9k rpm in fifth gear and still pulls. Also engine note is quite good and bike likes the oil. I have used only Hero 10W 30 oil but believe me if riaz says gulf is best then it will be as he has lots of experience on extreme as he first had an extreme, sold it bought an R15 and sold it for another extreme, so he knows a lot about extreme.

Although i still cannot know why he sold the R15 for another extreme.

Yesterday I gave my xtreme for 1st service at Sri Lakshmi Hero, Malakpet and they made a bill of Rs.337/-

            The break-up is as follows
            1. 4 T oil 50ml X 22 =Rs. 286/- (They have not charged me for 1 litre directly but charged the rate of oil which is used for top-ups hence the high price)
2.Kerosene- (Consumable) Rs.50/- (Hardly 50ml was used to clean my chain)

            Total Rs.336/-

I am sending a copy of my bill to the Hero customer care.
Pathetic service, pathetic customer care, shoddy work. Those idiots wash the bike before servicing and leave oil and grease spots.

A fellow's two month old xtreme's engine was going to be opened. Told him to loosen the chain and it worked . Thanks sibun !
After this, the mechanic got angry and locked out the service bay,we were not allowed to enter. Service bay is on the 3rd floor btw.

I wanted to meet and talk to the manager but as usual he was hiding somewhere.

Please tell us what made you buy the xtreme again.

No doubt it is a gem of a bike but these A$$ are fit for nothing. I was hesitating to go even for the first service just because of this very reason.

During my first service, I was charged 75 for kerosene and 280 for oil. And like even I mentioned in my posts, bad service, bad SVC manager.

That is the case with every Hero SVC in Hyderabad.
I am not going to these A$$ ever. Let go the warranty. I am better off with my timely DIY maintenance.

Don't know what kind of crap engine oil they fill in... I am going to drain it within 50 kms and clean the centrifugal filter as it was not cleaned during the 1st service.

Hero 4T 10W30 (made by Tide water) did the job pretty well even in this terrible summer heat, engine felt smooth, gear shifts were precise and engine did not overheat.

They charged me 250 for oil and no more , but they didnt clean the chain too, just wiped it with rag and lubed with same drained oil. The most annoying thing is they never let me or any other enter service bay and charge much for crap barrel oil , when i talked to the supervisor he said it was due to security reasons . The packed oil is much better , p.s you may try Mobil 10w30 mineral oil although costs 250rs but is worth the penny , gears are smooth and engine noise is reduced.I want to share a odd incident that happened to me , while cleaning chain last week bit of diesel got sprayed on rear alloy so i wiped it with rag , but the alloy was shining like new !! and that shine lasted for a week . Is diesel bad for alloy and engine paintwork ? Please help me out here

It seems my swing arm bush is gone.... Very heavy vibrations on riding in high gears in low speed and on bad roads.
I showed to a local mechanic, and he told it needs to be overhauled.
Not sure if the heavy 120/80 MRF tire caused this, also the roads I ride are not too good, though its Chennai Mount Road.
My Splendor's swing arm was never touched in all these 10 years and 1,20,000 kms!

                        lol @ 50mlx22 - does the CBZ need 1100ml of oil or 1 litre ? 50x22 comes to 1100ml.
'consumables' are a scam IMO (at least they are overcharged) - a few drops of oil and kerosene 50rs. i dont think has any connection to the actual amount of 'consumables' used and is arbitrarily fixed by each ASC. Write to Hero asking for a clarification on what 'consumables' are and what is the charge. Lets see what they say.

Coming to the service itself, you should have mentioned it on the job card and bill before signing it. Putting your comments (like oil filter not cleaned etc..)on the bill/job card will be useful to push your case.

btw, its good to wash the bike before the service, and after the service they need to clean up with a cloth the oil spills and dirt if any around the area worked on the bike.
Get your bike at least 2 or 3 free services done, if there are any issues they should mostly crop up within 3 services, so you can claim warranty.
Try changing your ASC, I heard the one at Madhapur, i think Phoenix Hero (near Mcdonalds) is friendlier.

I don't know how much oil the mechanic has filled but the oil drained was no more than 900ml as the mechanic did not bother to tilt the bike.
Xtreme cannot not take anything more than 1L unless the clutch cover/engine is opened. It is a very common practice to charge for maximum oil an engine can take irrespective of the amount filled.

Next service is 90 days away and I have ample time to think whether to go for next service or not. It is not about money but satisfaction-I hate getting my bike serviced by others.

What ? Ask them to wash the bike before and after the service ? Leave alone twice, they can't even wash the bike properly even once .

Did you write to Hero ? You have been over charged for oil (doesn't matter even if its 100ml - calculate the amount of bikes they service, this is another scam to mint easy money)
You need to stick around when the bike is getting serviced.. try another svc the next time. Visit them a day before u give it for service and tell them you will come at so and so time and will stay there to get the bike serviced. this may be illegal, but try and tip the mech (tell them you want to ride the bike with the mech to show him the 'issues' & once out of the svc, tip him ) - trust me.. money talks!
ha ha.. i said wash before service and just do a clean up after service like wiping out the oil etc.. i know how they 'wash' (i'd say its better you get yourself a hose pipe and do the washing yourself)

I will be writing to hero on Monday or even better - I will contact the regional manager. When I approached him last time, he gave me his contact no. .

As I said, it is a standard (mal)practice to charge price of the maximum oil and engine can take when the engine is drained completely.
Hero has tried to lower the cost of oil top-ups by having an option of billing oil in increments of 50ML but these A$$ take undue advantage of it.

I was by the side of the bike when it was being serviced. Just when it was time to fill the engine oil, the Service adviser/in-charge made me & others leave the service bay and locked it.
As soon as it was serviced, I removed the dipstick to check whether they filled the oil or not, checked tool and first aid kit.

The mechanic was very friendly with me, he even told me that he would be leaving this SVC because the pay is very low and make him service at-least 25 bikes every day.

As the bike was not cleaned and dried properly(had water spots), after reaching home - I pressure washed and waxed the bike.
