Re: brakes and oil queries
Hi fellow xBHPians,
My Hunk's first service is due(completed 600+km) and I am planning to get it done during this week. I need your inputs on following points.
1. I purchased the bike from MaxMotors, Dr. Rajkumar Road, Bangalore and it is one of the option where I can get it serviced. Has anyone had any good/bad experience with MaxMotors in past? Is there any other, preferred ASC in Bangalore. I won't mind going far for bike's proper servicing.
2. Where can I get the retail pack of Hero Honda 4T Plus (10 W 30)? I don't want the ASC to put the barrel oil saying we don't stock retail pack. Please suggest a place from where I can source genuine pack.
3. What should I check/ask in the 1st service? I am getting close to 50Kmpl (600km in ~12ltr)and therefore would ask the ASC to not touch the carburetor.
Any other point that I need to keep in mind during service?
Thanks in Advance.

Re: brakes and oil queries
Don't let them tighten the chain too much. Make sure a slack of 1 to 1.5 inch is maintained.Originally posted by SKant View PostHi fellow xBHPians,

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
[QUOTE=sibun;943053]Since your bike has run 32k your bike will have enough carbon to change the compression ratio significantly, so clean the combustion chamber and also polish the valves. Also re-tune the carb and change spark plug and inspect air filter. If clutch is ok and not slipping then do not touch it.
Regarding front shock, open it completely and replace the oil seals and use Motul fork oil of 160 ml in each fork. Look in DIY thread and paul has nicely explained all the procedure.
For rear shock from your avatar i can see you have a hunk, so yours is GRS SHOCK, so i would advise you to change it with new one.
Gear making noise is because of too much chain tightening which service center are well trained. Almost all SVC know two things tighten the chain too much and tighten the clutch too much. Check chain slack and keep 20 mm of play at tight spot and then report back.
Get a complete service done as i have mentioned above.
hey sibun sir,

I never crossed 3-4k rpm till 1500 kms ...Originally posted by RohIIT View Post55km is pretty nice mileage you are getting , while transition from on mode to reserve there is a bit of loss , i have experienced that too.. Try reserve to reserve method it is pretty accurate..can you please share your driving technique ? I also want to improve my skills.
After my first servicing . I increased the rpm from 4 to 6k till 2000km..
And now i ride the bike at 80-90 max. this will be till my second service.
And ya . 1 thing i realized on the xtreme is that. If you raise the bike for fast pickup then there is more fuel consumption. So raise the acc. slowly till your desired speed.. dnt pressurise the acc too much.

Same Story bro.. He just topped up the engine oil and charged for 1 ltr :xOriginally posted by shoeb2015 View PostYesterday I gave my xtreme for 1st service at Sri Lakshmi Hero, Malakpet and they made a bill of Rs.337/-
The break-up is as follows
1. 4 T oil 50ml X 22 =Rs. 286/- (They have not charged me for 1 litre directly but charged the rate of oil which is used for top-ups
hence the high price)
2.Kerosene- (Consumable) Rs.50/- (Hardly 50ml was used to clean my chain)
Total Rs.336/-
I am sending a copy of my bill to the Hero customer care.
Pathetic service, pathetic customer care, shoddy work. Those idiots wash the bike before servicing and leave oil and grease spots.
A fellow's two month old xtreme's engine was going to be opened. Told him to loosen the chain and it worked . Thanks sibun !
After this, the mechanic got angry and locked out the service bay,we were not allowed to enter. Service bay is on the 3rd floor btw.
I wanted to meet and talk to the manager but as usual he was hiding somewhere.
@ Riaz bhai
Please tell us what made you buy the xtreme again.
No doubt it is a gem of a bike but these A$$ are fit for nothing. I was hesitating to go even for the first service just because of this very reason.
He didn't even tightened the brakes :@Motorad

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Initializing of TPS is done to match the TPS output with CDI so that optimum map is selected for firing.
Unicorn and extreme runs DC CDi and these CDI unlike other CDI has micro chips. Or in other words it is like ECU but slightly less brain that ECU. It has as many has 10 firing modes and varies. So if tps is not initialized optimum performance cannot be obtained.
For initializing the TPS follow the procedure:-
1. Keep ignition switch(key) in off position.
2. Fasten the throttle sensor to the carburettor and connect the connector.
3. Remove the pulser coil coupler( there are two coupler coming out of magnet- one is neutral switch coming from front sprocket and other is coming from magnet- open the magnet one), and give 12 V supply from battery(by separate wire from battery positive) positive to blue/yellow wire(blue wire with yellow stripe), which is going to CDI.
4. Put on the ignition and the tachometer will shoe 1000 rpm(do not start the bike only ignition key is on).
5. Give full throttle and tachometer shows 2000 rpm.
6. Close the throttle and tachometer shows 3000 rpm.
7.turn throttle to full and tach shows 7000 rpm.
8. Close the throttle again and tachometer will show 5000 rpm and then will show 7000 rpm immediately.
9. Switch off the ignition and refit the coupler.
10. Complete each operation within 8 seconds.
11. If tachometer shows 10000 reading at any stage repeat the process.
i tried the above process and it doesnt work....... plz revert and tell what might be the problem...... awaiting immediate reply...

Yes those are the parts that require replacement and also change the brake oil, all will be as new.Originally posted by nishesh.kumar View PostHi Sibun,

Its because yours TPS is correct and doesn't needs to be initialized. From the pictures you have posted the TPS was opened from the connector, which is the right thing to Do. So no need of initialization. Never open the TPS from the throttle body by the screws otherwise chances are their it will get damaged by the idiot mechanics.Originally posted by mohdatif1 View PostInitializing of TPS is done to match the TPS output with CDI so that optimum map is selected for firing.

So do not worry, yours didn't show anything as your TPS is set correctly and doesn't requires initialization.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. @DOCTOR(Sibun)
,
I would like to replace my 1 lakh kms old classic Unicorn. I need a 150cc bike with very simple looks and without much Gizmos. I have checked and test rode Hero Achiever and I am ok with the looks and pick up. I need your view on this as this bike is not popular in Tamil Nadu.

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
I've a small problem. Bike has completed 20k KM btw.
In the morning, when I start the bike, the bike idles at 1k and after riding around a bit, it goes upto 1.4k RPM. Whack the throttle open a bit and it goes above 1.5k RPM. Is this normal behaviour? Also, when I let the bike idle for a while and then very, very lightly give throttle, the bike shuts off. I'm sure this isn't supposed to happen. Average the bike returns is around 35kmpl.
And for starting, the bike seems to need very light throttle input sometimes. Could someone please tell me why this is happening?
After a 40km ride, when I tried to push start the vehicle, the trip meter reset. Not to 0. Trip meter was showing 112km, I rode for around 20 km and then see the trip meter again at 100. O.o Then I tried starting the vehicle and it went back to 97.2km. Now what I also noticed is, when I try to push start, very rarely, the bike acts like the ignition has been switched on. The Tacho needle does a full circle along with the fuel gauge and the Speedo shows 188 and drops down to 0.
Just to remind you guys, I've changed over to DC lighting. Coil rewinding+RR Unit change was done. The headlamps and all the electricals work just fine otherwise though.
Brakes, the front brake lever can almost be pulled right upto the handle bar and the rear disk brakes have lost bite ever since the ASC changed the rear pads. The rear used to lock very quickly before, but is barely effective now. Also, the rear brake squeaks ever since the changed the pads.

There's fine line between genius and madness. Don't cross it!

, infact when i was getting the cone set on my dio replaced at the svc, the mech was telling me about the honda training etc.. and he was a genuine factory trained fella, next to him was another mech (who used to work as a helper with my local mech, when i told my local mech later about this, i was told this fellow was irregular to work and the svc just hired him cos they were short on mechs & he was fired from the ASC shortly afterwards)
