Hi Guys(especially Sibun if you are reading),

I am using Motul 20W50 in my xtreme and I don't think she is liking it at all. This is the first time I used an oil other than the Hero Honda Oil. I think my bike has lost some power too. What is the difference between 10W30 and 20W50? is 20w50 bad for my bike? I have just done 600 kilometres, but it seems every kilometre is a burden for her. By the way, I had my Valves changed at the same time as they had got damaged because of poor quality petrol(so the Hero Honda Mechanic Said!) I used this oil because the shop guy didn't have 10w30 and he said this one was better. Can you please tell me what could be wrong? I don't mind changing her oil if that can help. Any Pointers would be helpful.Thank you.

On the downside, I feel that engine is getting heated and not revving freely. I was very excited when I purchased this expensive FS oil (Rs. 675), but sadly my xtreme is not liking this oil

The reason ur bike has lost power is because ur using a very high viscosity oil, change ur oil to 20w40 or 10w40. Try motul 5100 10w40 for best results.

I've had my seat's bump cut out unfortunately. Was a time when lots of folks would complain about the rear seat comfort. :P

• Need advice on my CBZ Xtreme

Hi,

I wish someone could help me with my bike's problem.

I own a CBZ Xtreme( 2008 model). The bike has done 30000+ kms so far. When I ride the bike past 50 kmph, I feel a wobble at the rear wheel. I sometime accelerate the bike past 60 kmph and take my hands off from the handle bar and the bike starts wobbling steadily. When I gave it for service at a Hero Showroom, the mechanic said, it might be because of the bike's frame. He told me that the frame is little bent. I took the bike to another showroom and they said, it might be because, the rear stay is bent. But nobody have a concrete evidence why the bike wobbles.

Most of the pillion riders felt the wobbling and asked me if there is any problem with the back wheel.

Could some one tell me what could be the problem for wobbling? The bike's rear wheel has hit big poth holes at higher speeds and I believe that the back alloy wheel is bent and because of that, the bike wobbles? Could that be a reason?

Thanks

Even I have slight wobble, one mech said it was rims so got the rims fixed, still same prob, another mech says its swing arm, there are many reasons for rear Tyre wobble, I don't think its the frame because the frame bends only during a bad crash. u can try reparing the bent rim and check the axle too.

Oh that's too bad, I don't usually ride with a pillion, I like to ride alone and don't really care bout their comfort as long as I'm comfy on my bike

A thick oil doesn't necessarily mean that engine will run cooler. May be the thick oil is hindering the flow through engine and thus creating more heat. Engines designed to run on 10W 30 will run cooler on those rather than thick oil. Especially in extreme thick oil will make it loose power, mileage and the punch. For extreme i always recommend 10W 30 and if it is old engine with more than 50k then 10W 40, no going toward 20w.

I have told many times in this thread that do not think about 20W 40 and you are using 20W 50. Even when i was using 10W 40 engine would loose power. In 20W 50 your engine will loose power, mileage and will not rev like a extreme does. Do one thing have some mercy on your engine and drain that oil and fill 10W 30 and this is with immediate effect. Get oil from showroom and ensure to get the hero oil manufactured by TIDE WATER.

Before doing anything radical on your bike do these small things:-1. Take the bike to those Rim repair shop(spoke wheels) and tell them to check for bends, although they cannot correct it but they are expert in checking the trueness of wheel, even a slight bent will not escape their eyes. If rim is bent rectify that, but i am sure your rim is not bent as rims of Hero are very strong.2. Second check the swingarm bushes, unlike splendor which has metal and rubber bushes, this has roller bearings in them, may be the bearings are worn, or the metal bush inside them is worn, check that. Most probably those bearings are worn which is causing the wobbling.3. And lastly check the tire as some tires after getting worn down cause that problem. Also if you have leak fixed then check if the tyre edges sit correctly on rim.

Sinnerz i think that is not possible as FI needs various sensors and injector unit in place of carb. Also some modification in head unit will be required i suppose . All in all it will be a expensive and not reliable like stock

@all: Today I gave my Hunk for its 6th and final Free Servicing. The service manager suggested me to purchase an additional 'service offer' which would give me 6 services, for the cost of 5. Here, Hunk's service rate is INR 202.00. I was not convinced whether I should opt for it or not. In any case, I believe my motorcycle will be under warranty (as long as I avail paid services till 40,000kms)? What should I do - go for it or not? Also, it is NOT an extended warranty scheme. It is just a servicing scheme.

Despite sibun turning anti 10w40, I still have purchased a bottle of Veedol Super Swift 10w40. :P Will change this afternoon. Will run and let you all know about the fine differences when using Veedol 10w30 and 10w40. No offence bro, just for the sake of experimenting a little. Moreover I wish to go for some extended speed highway tours that is why the choice. Otherwise with around 30 kms(max) running everyday in the city, 10w30 is more than sufficient. Btw the engine oil bottle costed me INR 340.00 (still haven't checked the discount coupon yet!).

Hi Sibun and Sinner, Thank you so much for your guidance . I got the oil changed at the showroom today and got the Hero Honda Oil filled in. I think my bike is riding better already. I hope there was no permanent damage during this time, can you please advise if there would be? The reason I used 20W50 was because the shop person misguided me and I being the idiot that I am, let him. He said it would make no difference and I believed him. I am going to his shop today to give him a piece of my mind and share a few thoughts about what is meant by "No Difference". I am never switching my oil again. by the way, my bike completed 31k kilometers and I did have the valves and head polished. Thank you guys

Both bikes are good and it's basic engine are same. But hunk is better looking than CBZ Xtreme. And I am using Hunk for last one year, I am fully satisfied with is performance and have to say am very happy with it. This is an awesome bike in terms of ride quality, comforts and long journey. It is well known for its muscular look. The hunk is endowed with many advanced and comfortable features which offers proper handling and controlling of the bike. The hunk is the real HUNK and real man's bike.

Don't go for the service offer. If you miss even one service then that amount is lost.(Check if this is the conditon)
By giving this offer they are making sure that the customer is forced to get the bike serviced at this A.S.C.(And get a chance to overcharge oil and other consumables + this amount is recovered by them)

Get the bike serviced at the A.S.C only if you feel that you want to keep the warranty intact otherwise it does not make much sense keeping in mind that you can do a much better service on your own.
For Rs.200 you get washing,(labor)oil change, chain lube, air filter cleaning and warranty stays in place.
Final bill comes to around Rs.550/- (includes only oil change), same service can be done on your own and save Rs.250/-
(Just my thought)

If the engine feels smooth after 10 kms then it will be smooth be it 10kms or 100kms.(After reaching operating temperature, viscosity remains more or less the same).
In a new engine I am finding 10W30 to be too much and considering that your engine is still new -10W30 should be the perfect grade. There is no harm in experimenting, we all have learnt this way only.

Oil: I did not change the oil. Checked the previous odometer, current readings and found that I had hardly done 1700 kms on the 10w30. And the oil still feels great. Therefore didn't drain.

Parts and Servicing: Got the air filter changed. Part No: 17211KVN900S Rate : 118.18+Vat@10% - Discount@5% (Goodlife discount) = INR123.50
41241KSP900S - Damper Rear Wheel Rate: 24.55 x 4 = 102.60 after (vat and discounts)

Total paid = INR 226.00

Though there isn't much friction play on this part but it plays a very critical role in the rotational motion of the rear wheel and chain play. The mechanic was interested enough to give me a demonstration on one of the major usage of this seemingly simple rubber part. On a Hero Passion Pro, these rubber dampers had worn off/broken similar to mine. He asked me to observed the chain play/travel while he rotated the wheel from stop. As he gave the rear wheel a slight turn with his hands, the chain just jumped vertically at the point of max. slack! Also, he mentioned that faulty parts such as these are often ignored and are one of the major reasons why chains require frequent adjustment. On my bike, there was hardly any similar 'jump/jerk' after replacement of this damper with new ones. Though 8k kms is too little for these dampers to break apart, I guess damage was being done everytime, my rear wheel was opened to check for air leakages from the rims and during air-valve replacement. Those nincompoops at the tyre store had not mounted these rubber dampers properly leading to premature wearing and broken pair 'link'.
