Meanwhile, I'm going to get my xtreme serviced tomorrow evening, as it has clocked 2200 Kms on current engine oil(Shell Advance AX7 SS). This time I'm going to use Gulf Pride 4T Plus 10W-30 (Only Rs. 200/- for 900 ml of SS oil ) and I've also purchased NGK G power-CPR-8EA-GP9 Platinum tip spark plug. Let's see how they perform.
I got my xtreme serviced. I'm providing full details below.

      1. Engine oil: Changed the engine oil to Gulf pride 4T plus SS 10w30. Took a 10 km ride, found nothing special, but the important thing is it's grade is as per company's recommendation and I have also heard good reviews. Even if it lasts till 1500 kms, then also its full paisa wasool
      2. Got the carb cleaned and AFR retuned. I had instructed the mech not to touch the TPS. So he just opened the float bowl, and cleaned all the jets and other parts using compressed air and petrol. I changed the AFR Screw as well with OE.
      3. Changed the spark plug to NGK G-Power CPR-8EAGP9. Tip of this plug is way better than the OE.
      4. Air filter was throughly cleaned with compressed air.
      5. Rear wheel damper were also replaced with OE, since old one were @ their end of life.

I'll post the performance and mileage once it clocks some substantial distance on this setup.

Thanks for your response. I could see many types of Motul 5100 like 10W30, 10W40, 10W,50, 15W50 in Motul site. Which is the one suggested by you and easily available.?

Also can we differentiate the oils as synthetic or semi-synthetic based on the xWy parameters.? What I observed from the suggestions is like x value has to be lower for the engine to perform well in Cold conditions and y has to be higher for the engine to perform well in higher temperatures.

You can choose any of those two, the shell costs around 350 and better than that is Motul which costs around 500. For our bikes its recommended to use either xxW30 or xxW40, oils above that grade would eat ur performance.

[MENTION=28494]ashwhin[/MENTION] 10w30 is best and oe grade engine oil , motul 10w30 is recommended , or 10w40 in case former is not found . Semi synth , mineral and fs all may come in same grade we can only differentiate by labels and price , e.g 800rs oil will be fs etc . Mineral oils are basic type of oils made by petroleum extracts , semi synth include synthetic made costituent say 20% to 40% , as name suggests FS oils are 100% synthetic and are by far very good . But it is observed that FS oils are not quite suited. Best are mineral and Semi synth for hunk and extreme engines.

              Hi Imran,
You can use NGK-G Power CPR-8EA-GP9 Plug. I've installed the same in my xtreme today only. It costs 175.00 but its better than OE one.
Ideally air filter should be changed after every 10-12k kms, but it's your call. Air filter costs 130.00

Varying idle can happen due to following -
-Your Authorised service center set your carburetor Air/Fuel ratio (AFR) setting to lean
                      -Dirty or old airfilter
                      -Dirty or old sparkplug

Ok guys i have a problem here , few days back a clamp near ignition was bit bend , it was held by 1 6mm allen nut , so i got another bolt , straightened the clamp and screwed back new bolts . Now after 5-6 km running , i tried to start the bike and it showed no activity at all like i had turned nothing . I mean there was no horn or starter click nothing pure blank . I left bike at friends home and went college . on returning when i started bike it made TRRRRRR sound from starter motor area and speedo /lcd went off , so had to push start it and it came back to life ( speedo was working now) , after that incidence it has been working fine . One thing to note is bike is kept 40% in rains and barely washed this month. Can anyone help in this regard , what i suspect is some kind of short circuiting but fuse are all right . I am in dilemma as what is the issue here .

Hi, all. Had a crash this sunday. Misjudged a corner, and banggggggggg! Head first into the bushes. Helmet saved my ass. Strapped on firmly and rock solid[Studds Scorpion]. Jacket I was wearing[non-armored] helped provide abrasion resistance. Not a single scratch on body. But muscles aching for past 3 days Little cut on knee. Okay now.

Coming to the bike, thank GOD for the crash guard. It took all the impact. Saved greater damage to the bike. Here are a few pics of damages. Pics mite be bad. pardon me.

Went to the SVC today. Hellbent on convincing me to claim insurance. Here's an estimation he made me[all the damages/scratches are in pics above]
                          1) Crash Guard :Rs.450
                          2) Visor assembly head : Rs.1250
                          3) Screen windshield :Rs.300
                          4) Meter upper cover :Rs.250
                          5) Brake pedal[rear] :Rs.180
                          6) Silencer covers[both] :Rs.400
                          7) Visor headlight stay: Rs.180
                          8) Rear RHS carrier :Rs.400
                          9) Fork Lightment[perhaps alignment?] :Rs.450
                          10) Disk liner :Rs.80
                          11) Service charge :Rs.600

Above totals to 4550. Out of above mentioned items, I will have to pay half for items no 2, 3, 4. Still it would cost me about 1500 INR. Now, the brake pedal can be simply strainghtened, that's no problem, I have done it in the past. So no need to change that. Also the scratches, I can live with them. Maybe the windshield visor I will change. Also, crash guards will be pakka changed. No doubt.
                          1) If you see the last pic, you will notice that the console assembly is bent to right. Can say it is displaced. I will try putting up a pic taken in daylight if this one is not clear. How much will it cost me to fix this? And how is it to be done?
                          2) Is there a problem if I run the bike without those outside covers on the silencer?
                          3) Is their any basic charge we have to pay for claiming insurance? How much?[Bharti AXA] He dint tell me anything about it.
                          4) Are all the prices mentioned above correct?

I can live with those small scratches on the body. I will have a sticker over them. Not a problem. Since now, again I will have to save up for a good helmet, I dont want to go through the hassles of claiming insurance and all. Please tell me if this can be avoided or claiming one will be a sensible option?

Thank god that you are Ok and the damage to bike is only cosmetic. Muscle pain should subside within a few days. Try to place a hot water bag over the affected area.

                            S.NO Part No. Description Price
                            1. 46500-KVE-860 Brake pedal Rs.155/-
                            2. 50803KVE900S Guard Rs.439/-
                            3. 64100KVE900S Wind Screen/Visor Rs.276/-
                            4. 33110KVE901S Headlight Rs.412/-
                            5. 64312KVE900S Stay front cowl Rs.160/-
                            6. 18312KVE900S Cover muffler(both) Rs.400/-
                            7. 50400-KVE-860 Grip Rear RHS Rs.434./-
                            8. 61301KVE900ZA Cowl Assembly Rs.731/-
                            TOTAL
                            Rs.3000/-

If you plan to get the repairs outside then the parts listed in bold is enough to bring the bike in shape. Try to use a rubbing compound and see if the scratches can be removed from the muffler cover.

Remove the Headlight and check if there is any damage to headlight stay. Most probably it is bent and can be brought back into shape.
I don't think there is any need to replace upper meter cover.
(Refer my post to open up the front cowl)

If you claim insurance then all the parts listed needs to be changed and your bike will be back in showroom condition.
(276+412+731)/2 = 710 is what you need to pay if you claim insurance as plastics are covered only 50%.

If your bike is going straight when the handlebars are left then no need to get the fork alignment.
Labor charges for replacing all the parts is too high and can be done from outside for less than Rs.200/-

If you have time and can wait for re-reimbursement then get the repairs done from an independent mechanic and repair/replace only what is necessary.
File a claim and get it surveyed by a surveyor. You can also show the surveyor the estimate you got from Hero ASC for speedy approval.

My bike is running fine after the servicing. I'm observing that the headlight intensity has really gone bad, as it hardly provides any illumination.
Currently, stock Halonix 35/35 W bulb is fitted in my xtreme.
Can you suggest me any other bulb with the same power ratings, which can improve the lighting. I do not want to install HID or perform rewinding/DC conversion, as I like to keep my bike in stock settings

[MENTION=22701]nishesh[/MENTION] Go for new philips bulb (35w) which is coming in xtreme and hunk . It is thinner and has better focus . Alternatively you can try 60/55W bulb by philips or halonix, but try for philips 35W it is bit white as compared to other bulbs which emit yellow light.
