Valves won't need adjustment that frequently.
If your bike performs fine and there is no valve/tappet noise, then please proceed with your trip without worries.

Today i checked my current carb settings which is around 1.7 turns (360) from full close.
Wanted to tune by following Sibun bro's carb tuning guide and found out that its around 3.5 turns (360 degree) from full close.
I then test ride the bike for few kilometers and found out bike has immense acceleration.
But SINCE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DEFAULT SETTING AND MODIFIED SETTING IS TOO HIGH, i went back to stock 1.7 turns.

Shall i go back to Sibun bro's carb tuning or shall i stick eith default? i want to adjust the tuning since i am getting 38-40kmpl under very smooth riding.
THose who followed this method, please let me know the about the total turns.
                      Thanks

Did anybody faced gear slipping problem in your extreme..?
Last week went for long night ride to lonawala. Was riding in 5th gear with speed around 50-60 km/hr. Suddenly bike`s RPM raised like happens when running with throttle open & disengages clutch. Happened thrice from last week when riding bike at same speed. Is this normal or something serious.? What should i do.
Bike running 4700 kms on odo. Done 3rd servicing. My friend told me that this happened as gears were not properly engaged.

                        Fellow members do needful.

                        Thanx in advance.

Can you confirm if choke works properly without opening throttle when pilot screw turn-count is 3.5 turns & idle-rpm is within recommended limit.

Loosen the chain. Increase the slack to 1 1/2 inch.

Both are well and good. The difference is that by gas analyzer any body can tune it, but by manual tuning only experienced person can tune it. Let me tell you that my mechanic tunes the carb by hearing the sound and not by looking at tachometer and in my opinion none can come close to his tuning.

Let me tell you that tuning varies a lot in bikes. Company doesn't tune the bikes with each one. Just that the stock setting is done by keihin and given as you see all bikes come with 1.7 turns from factory. Does that mean it is right. No. So when you tune it hearing the sound, we get the optimum setting. You are fearing that mileage will decrease but no instead it will increase as bike will feel free and you have confirmed it by increase in acceleration. Let me tell you the secret behind the tuning which my mechanic follows. He doesn't follows which way is lean or rich. His method is that:- " WHEN WE OPEN THE SCREW AND THE IDLE INCREASES WE ARE INCREASING MILEAGE TILL WE GET HIGHEST MILEAGE AT WHICH ENGINE WILL RACE HIGH. THEN FROM THAT POINT WHEN WE OPEN MORE AND BIKE DECREASES REVS ENGINE STARTS DECREASING MILEAGE. HIS THEORY IS FROM HIGHEST REV POINT IF WE INCREASE OR DECREASE THE TURNS MILEAGE DECREASES." I in fact have seen that his method is correct as we are just too much bothered which way is lean and which way is rich and mess up the tuning. But he does it in own way and every bike he tunes runs perfectly. Run it in my way and ride gently and see what is the mileage. Also you can check the sparkplug after few hundred kilometers, else go back to stock.[QUOTE=PRATHM;1077192]Did anybody faced gear slipping problem in your extreme..? Adjust the chain to original specs.@all- Recently have seen that my extremes pick-up has decreased and also mileage. Symptoms of bike is pointing to air filter as i do not remember when i have changed the filter. I only remember that i have changed the air filter only twice and the first one was at 11k kms. So the second one would have been changed at 10-11k interval, comes to around 22k. Now the bike is at 35.5k, so that around 14k on this filter. Although the filter looks good and clean, but the paper sides have turned slightly blackish in color. And i think the pores in paper would have been damaged. Will change the filter and see as the engine is not picking revs freely.

Posting this for a friend. He is not able to source this spring for his Hunk's rear disc.
Is this something that can be purchased from Hero parts dealer?
